    FHQ Map Draw

Congrats for a great addon! :) Maybe you could check how Spooner made the "pen-drawing" in A1 and implement it in this too? http://spooner.github.io/about/ and http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=3324
  2. Chernarus?! In Arma 3?! Thank you so much Alduric!
  3. Try these possible fixes that I suggested in another similar thread:

Horrible SLI Performance GTX 770 4GB

Check your Nvidia Control Panel settings and make sure there are no exceptions for arma3.exe in the settings (there are both global and game-dependent settings that override global settings). Eg. the power saving setting should be set to "Prefer Maximum Performance". Check also the power saving features of Windows (eg. select "Best Performance" or something like that in the Control Panel power settings and disable core parking if it's enabled).
  5. Hi LawlessBaron, the mission is not being developed anymore. The unfortunate delays in A3 release schedule with some fails that we did ourselves and the huge lack of development resources in general were the main reasons that lead to stopping development. We had, and still have, the passion and ambitious goal to create a new kind of RP that different kind of people from Arma hipsters to hardcore roleplayers would really enjoy. We just simply can't continue working on the mission at this moment because of lack of time and money.
  6. Win8 and 8.1 are also much more resistant against malware. Of course, they aren't any better in case of uneducated user, but they're remarkably safer than their predecessors in general. Combine it with this official, very smart, effective and maintenance free tool from Microsoft: EMET 4.1 and you'll have very good tolerance against malware, especially the types that are getting more common these days. (Btw, the tool is great addition with Win7 too.) If you install the program, use recommended settings and use the "Import" button to bring to activate all the lists in the default folder to get remarkably better protection by OS. Despite of that, those don't still render the need of proper anti-virus (there are huge differences between AV providers!), firewall and especially user education any less important, but serves as a great base in terms of security.

    Altis Life RPG

Congrats for the release! It's always a pleasure to see Life missions going open source. Appreciate the hard work that you did a lot, speaking from experience I know that developing Life/RPG content can be a real PITA ;)

    Is this color normal?

The images that you linked clearly indicate that the anti-piracy functionality of Arma, known as FADE, has been triggered. It causes you little problems that grow bigger and bigger till they make you to ragequit. One of the best designed features of the game, if you ask me! Quit being pirate and buy the game if you want to play it. Are you willing to work even 60-hour weeks for free for years? I bet your answer is "no, I don't", so why should the developers?
  9. Well, I agree with you about the irrelevant metric/statistics. Assuming that you know while you actually don't (irrelevant metric) is even more dangerous than "not knowing" at all. But now that I think about the Steam statistics, I'm actually sure (it was mentioned somewhere, can't find the exact quote atm) that Steam offers the developers accurate and diverse statistics about the hardware of the players of their games (among other data), which makes this discussion kind of pointless, because the devs have the proper statistics in their hands already :p
  10. That's exactly what I commented in my previous message: not the RV engine design, but instead that assumption is never worth the actual data. While your point was good in bringing another perspective to the statistics, I don't think that your personal way to use Steam would exactly "muddle the point" of the dominance of dualcores in large statistics, especially when we take it into account that in setups like yours, not only the hardware of HTPCs and such, but also the hardware of the gaming rigs is included in the survey and that you didn't provide any data that would support your view of the topic. @MavericK96, see the last paragraph in my previous message. I wonder why you left just the paragraph that includes just what you're looking for out of the quote.
  11. While I fully agree about the better multicore utilization, your claim about "I would say most everyone probably has quadcores in this day and age" is simply not true. Here's remarkably more reliable survey (the official Steam monthly survey): http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/cpus/?sort=pct I'm quite sure that the Arma players have better PCs than regular Steam users in general though (see eg. http://jonpeddie.com/press-releases/details/global-pc-gaming-hardware-sales-shrug-off-pc-market-decline/), but the stats are pretty clear anyway: PC players have more dualcore than quadcore CPUs in their computers. The increase in quadcore percentage has stopped last month and the percentage of quadcores of the CPU base of Steam users is surprisingly actually decreasing at this moment (!), while the percentage of dualcores is increasing, as the chart shows.

    Clipping issues

I can't help thinking that the OP tries to gather attention and "keep the show on" with various tactics... His text is full of known fallacies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies), both formal and informal, such as non sequitur, ad hominem and ad populum. Example of formal fallacy (non sequitur, both premises (1. and 2.) can be true but they're invalid as argument because there's no connection between premises and the conclusion): "1. If point B can be observed from point A, point A can be observed from point B. 2. Soldiers can observe. 3. Therefore, if soldier A can observe soldier B then soldier B can also observe soldier A." (Instead of that conclusion must be true, it only can be true. And because the conclusion is not true every time, the statement is false.) Sound familiar? :p etc. etc.

    Clipping issues

I'd like to add that you have maybe learned the LOS = LOF equality from other FPS games like COD or BF (or a bunch of others). The bullets indeed spawn between your eyes/scope when you're looking through it in those games, so LOS is equal to LOF in them. Additionally many FPS games don't simulate the ballistics at all, which might confuse even more. Unfortunately this is not how things work in real life (see the exhaustive explanations above), and Arma simulates the behaviour of real life in this part. LOS is not equal to LOF in Arma, which is the case in real life too. You might wonder now how do the scopes work then? Why can you hit enemy accurately by using your scope in some circumstances but not always? The reasons: the fact that the bullets come out from the barrel of your gun instead of your scope, and the gravity (and therefore the ballistics, external ballistics to be exact). http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CE100Nl6bjE/TuBFa-VkiJI/AAAAAAAAAHI/dGWJHndKByo/s1600/100yzero+copy.jpg The thick black line is extrapolation of barrel. Note that the barrel points actually little bit upwards (note that the angle is exaggerated here to make the difference easier to see, that's why the actual barrel is not level with the black barrel extrapolation line), while the scope line (the thin red line) is perfectly level with horizontal line. The blue curve is the ballistical curve of bullets, the path that bullets will follow till they hit something. Yes – it's a curve, not a line, because the gravity keeps pulling the bullet/projectile down through the whole flight of it. Basically your scope zeroing determines the distance where the direct line of your scope (the thin red line) intersects the ballistic bullet curve. The point where they intersect is called "far-zero". Let's say you set your zeroing to 250 m, so the scope line and the ballistic curve intersect at 250 m distance, so you will hit the target at 250 m distance by aiming directly to the target. The zeroing (or the dots or such marks in the scope) just determine specific points where the scope line and the flight path of bullets happen to intersect. The vast majority of FPS games that unrealistically make LOS and LOF equal and make bullets fly in straight line instead of ballistical curve make people confused even more. That explains why LOS seems to be equal to LOF in some situations. Note: it seems like it was equal, but it's just an illusion. Edit: here's another pic, hope it clears things more:
  14. Introduction Artificial ATC is an addon-free, easy-to-attach script packet that adds completely automated Air Traffic Control to the desired airfield on the map. Artificial ATC allows two-way communication between pilots and ATC. The main communication system is handled by player. However, it has an automatic backup system that guides the pilot and warns other pilots in the zone of danger if the pilot fails to communicate with ATC. Fixed-wing aircraft cockpits play additional warning tones in case of danger. Features Artificial ATC generates autonomous, dynamic air traffic control to the desired airfield that: monitors the situation of the airfield that it controls and the airspace around it directs the arriving and departing aircrafts and the aircrafts on the airfield is able to notice and react relatively early to most of the threats that might danger the traffic flow and safety by giving the aircrafts in danger enough time to avoid the possible collision and guiding the possible pilot that is making a mistake to cancel his intended maneuver examples of possible issues that ATC considers as threat: aircraft that is taking off without permission aircraft that is landing without permission aircraft that is landing on wrong runway obstacle on the runway Artificial ATC does: prevent the most of midair collisions and collisions on and near the airfield by enhancing the situational awareness of especially fixed-wing pilots prevent some of the intented teamkills that involve in aircrafts near or on the airfield that it controls increase immersion as pilot. Artificial ATC does not: prevent intented teamkills by more skilled teamkillers control rotary-wing traffic on or near the airfield. Artificial ATC may: control also rotary-wing traffic use also TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance System) in the fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircrafts that have more advanced radar and communication systems in the future. Artificial ATC

Hey again, I -might- be able to dedicate a little of my time for this again before I move on other stuff. So if you're a scripter that might be able to realize this (I'd appreciate it if this wasn't your very first project :D) and you're interested, PM me now, before it's too late. PS. I'd like to point out that Artificial ATC was not planned to be "the ultimate ATC simulator", but instead an intelligent ATC with simple outcome (so that basically everyone understands the ATC instructions) and multidirectional communication. I also would like to note that it affects players only, AI interaction was never planned. It might be compatible with AI too, but it's up to the scripter then, because I'm not familiar with AI control.
  16. Wow. I'm really impressed! A big for you! :)
  17. Cloud shadows?!? This is getting interesting :)
  18. Indeed, what Das Attorney said... Except that I consider this paragraph as the best that I've seen on these forums in general for a while. :ok:
  19. ...that's why there is "in practice" in the previous sentence ;) Azzur33, I'm sorry, I see... :p Like my mother tongue teacher said, "sarcasm is an effective but very dangerous genre of humour" ;)
  20. I'm not sure if you're talking about the situation in game or in real world, but at least in real world the gravity remains absolutely same in practice regardless of your position in airspace... Gravity is constant.
  21. I decided to reinstall the TrackIR5 after a little break. I reinstalled the newest version (v5.2.200, build 14548) of TIR5 software and updated the game list, but to my great surprise, I didn't find Arma 3 from the supported games list anymore. Second game list update didn't help either (it says that the list is up to date). They have even dropped the game from their "supported games" page on their website: http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/03-enhanced-games/enhanced-games-all.html I'd post on their support forums, but I didn't manage to pass their ridiculous anti-spambot questions  Again another issue with this thingy... Is it time to request RMA, or am I just wrong and/or blind and A3 is actually supported?
  22. I'm not quite sure about that, the issues have been related to software and drivers rather than the hardware itself. But it's not that critical, it'll be time for other stuff soon anyway... :p
  23. Nahh, the issues have been quite random and not (very) dependent on each other and it works without issues occasionally. I guess it's just bad luck... :p

    Colored Thermal View?

The pic is from scripted UAV in the Invade&Annex multiplayer mission that is created by Ahoy World clan: http://www.ahoyworld.co.uk/topic/726-aw-invade-annex-changelog-and-download/ I'm not sure if it uses the thermal view as a base picture though because the "hot" areas don't match with the thermal view very well (but I might be wrong as well). I think it uses the normal picture as base instead and then applies postprocessing effects that make the picture look like that.
