The fatigue in this current build is just stupid, you get tired too quickly. Some people do not like playing 1 mission for 10 hours, the mission designers need to be able to change the way fatigue is so that if they dont want the fat kids playing video games running like marathon then they can adjust it. Right now the only way to do this is to create some scripts that bog down the engine with monitoring or just disable fatigue alltogether. Right now i really would rather this just be in ACE.

Terrain Improvement (dev branch)
xyberviri replied to NordKindchen's topic in ARMA 3 - DEVELOPMENT BRANCH
Instead of all this, how about they just intergrate substance by allegorithimc into the game engine the way UDK and unity have done: http://www.allegorithmic.com/integrations/udk Then there wouldn't be any texture creation anymore since it would all be programmed in the engine via code. heck the company could dynamically texture units on the fly... you turn on PP? I leave this off because every mission designer seems to think they need to abuse ppeffects to be kewl -
Chance of classname changes from here on out?
xyberviri replied to sic-disaster's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
Honestly what you all should be doing is putting all your class names that are in alpha/beta into a file and define them to something you have control over so that your not replacing a bunch of class names in files, then when a update occurs your code only needs to be corrected in 1 file. -
Redefine unit name/group on trigger fire?
xyberviri replied to meatball's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
you mean unit names like "Rifleman AT (Xyberviri)" if thats the case then you need to change the playable model to another one like how they do in dayz. however your going to have issues As far as changing group membership you create the new group first then joinsilent the player to the new group. _newGroup = createGroup (side player); //create a new group on side (in this case players side) player joinSilent _newGroup; now for changing the "name" its always going be along the lines of "<unit type> (player name)" you need create a new unit and then select it a working example of this can be found here: https://dev-heaven.net/projects/clanbase-aas/repository/revisions/master/entry/core/cb_aas_20_ChernarusTemplate.Utes/changePlayerModel.sqf username guest pw guest it would be easier to just select a unit with a more generic description. There might be a way to override what the name of your cursor target is but honestly i haven't ever tried -
Or for those that set the game to windowed mode and a 2nd monitor, just pan out of the frame..... ;) Honestly the only thing people miss is the hidden 3d editor in arma 2 that allowed for better placement of small objects. If BI would just add some way to view in 3d and control height in addition to pan most of the mission designers would hush up.

Multiplayer Balancing - Will Arma3's MP be balanced?
xyberviri replied to BLSmith2112's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Once a thread gets past 5 pages it really should be closed because at 51 no one is going to bother reading the first 50 pages. Why does the game have to be balanced? why does every weapon need a counter weapon? simply put do people in iran have full 100% access to Us weapons today? If Hawaii succeeded from the US and we decided to attack them would it be balanced? Honestly i want BI to focus on core gameplay aspects like how the server performance is, people here are complaining about colors and what things are called. once the devs wrap up beta thats it, theres going to be a maintenance team that comes along to make sure arma 3 gets its patches until the nex DLC comes out. Too many people hear are complaining that the game isn't realistic enough, but they also whine for balance but the fact is that real life is not fair, nor is it fun or balanced. To many people seem to think that arma 3 is a simulator. The players that want a mil sim need to go out and buy VBS because arma 3 is not a military simulator, its not billed as one either, arma 2 was but 3 is a military sandbox. the problem is that realisim is just that, its real life, its slow and boring. Just because you didn't join the military doesn't mean you should live it vicariously though a video game. As tough as a pill to swallow, arma is a video game, if you want real life military go play americas army because thats about as real as its going to get for most of us gamers. If we really wanted this game to be "realistic" then fine, I vote that everyone that dies gets a global hardware ban the second they die in game.... to promote team play... How about a set of USB bullets that go in your ears that fire off when your hit in game? at what point is realistic stop being fun..... -
=BTC= Logistic [A3] - BETA
xyberviri replied to giallustio's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Is there anyway to modify this to NOT use RscPicture and RscTitles, because thats the default that Everyone seems to want to use and it causes problems for those of use that want to use this script but dont have a gui because of the class names. -
Spawn In With Smoke Grenades On
xyberviri replied to fuzi8n's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
You just create the smoke shell _smoke = "SmokeShellRed" createVehicle _somePosition; If you want to attach it to something you use the following _smoke = "SmokeShellRed" createVehicle position _somevehicle; _smoker attachto [_somevehicle,[0,0,0]]; -

Helper script when your mission is in git (source control)

Why are the scenarios so unrealistic?
xyberviri replied to Tyrant-0's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
You all are coming off on the OP all wrong, everyone is suggesting how "awsome the arma series is because of the powerful editor and the ability for any player to edit the missions..blahblahblah" but glossing over the fact that as a whole the community has historically known that most of the single player missions are either buggy or broken in some aspect. Everyone knows this for a fact, the issue is not that the Op should have realized that they can edit the mission, the issue is that as a player that is new to the series the OP should not have to edit the mission to make it work. Half of of the time missions are designed so that you have to go stand on the x for the suprise, but as a gamer everyone knows dont stand on the X because its a target, however the mission breaks because you didn't stand on the x.. After pulling the trigger and buying PMC, because i actually wanted to play though the missions, my first experience in the first mission was being told to go some where, then once i got there i was still told to go there, after just standing there for 5 minutes, while my time npc m16 sniper killed every "man 300m N by NW" i seem to be spotting with my eagle vision, i went back to where i started, at that point i was told to move to the next rally position and was one shot killed by a npc i never saw.......the irony is that i can spot units from 300m+ but didn't see the dude standing right over there. broken trigger, unbalanced AI, unfun game play, this is on normal, normal campaign and no mods.... i restarted that mission same thing.... that is arma single player in a nut shell -
How do you have a helicopter drop off troops while under fire?
xyberviri replied to diablo109's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
You may also want to turn down the AI skill until you reach the landing zone and then turn it back up once it takes off. Otherwise you end up with submachine snipers that can eagle eye criticle vehicle parts { _x setskill ["AimingAccuracy",0.1] } foreach _listofunits; -
Honestly the interior view of all the vehicles suck, i hate being bound to 1st person because you can't see anything, Maybe if i owned a ocultus or ugh a track ir then it would matter because i could look around, but some times you get disoriented when having to using mouse look for almost all movement in side of a vehicle. im sorry but i dont play with 3 screens setup in eyefinity, i dont have multiple 30" screens to have a full 120* view of everything. The interiors are nice but i almost never go 1st person in vehicles unless im just by my self screwing around or im forced to due to trees and the like. I recently started tring because heli's seem easier to pilot, ready pilot not land, in first since controls see to be move intuitive than in 3rd, but then when im tring to get a fix of where i am spatially i start loosing control.

The Demo version of fraps only records 30 seconds, if you pay for it you only are limited by disk space, your options if you dont want to pay for it is to download OBS and live stream to your hard drive (or to twitch.tv) Honestly this does highlite how unfluid the movements are in some of the transitions. Personally i hate having to stop moving to unsling my main weapon.

Helper script when your mission is in git (source control)
xyberviri replied to bewilderbeest's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS - CONFIGS & SCRIPTING
Personaly i use Arma Dev for Eclipse still and installed Egit which lets me do version control using github itself. I usually flip flop between eclipse and notepad ++ though, to make matters worse im using the eclipse arma plugin that hasn't been updated in years. -
You could do something like this, which would damage you everytime you drove over a "Land_HelipadEmpty_F" faster than 5km/h _speedBumpObjects = ["Land_HelipadEmpty_F"]; //Array of objects to search for _maXingSpeed = 5; //max crossing speed in km/h //loop to run while {true} do { //Checks _vehicle = vehicle player; //Object player is in or player object if they are not in one _isInVehicle = (_vehicle != player); //true when vehicle object is not equal to player object (ie unit inside of vehicle) _isDriver = (driver _vehicle == player); //driver returns the driver of the vehicle or the player if they are not in one. //expression if(_isInVehicle)&&(_isDriver) then { _speedBumps = nearestObjects [player,_speedBumpObjects,1]; if((speed _vehicle > _maXingSpeed) && (count _speedBumps > 0) ) then { setdamage _vehicle ( (damage _vehicle) + 0.01); }; }; sleep 0.1; }; That would all go inside of a file like speedbumps.sqf and then it would be called from your main script like: if !(isServer) then { [] execvm "speedbumps.sqf"; }; Alternativly you can create an evently handler than triggers when the player enters a vehicle to launch this script, then another that kills it when the player exits the script, however my lunch is over so that is outside the scope of my reply.

What kind of sorcery is this? (performance)
xyberviri replied to Geit's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Im using one of the new AMD 4.0 8 cores(8x128bit,4x256) I get about 20-70 with view distance at 3000 and everything on ultra, some times it bombs to 10-20's. im also using a HD7850 2gb and 16Gb of ram, the only thing i think is causing my issues is im still using SATA drives and everyone i know has SSD drives . This is playing on servers with ping between 36-150, not really seeing much of a diffrence with higher ping times. VSync was really locking me down at sub 30fps rates for a while, disabled that and i was back in the 70's -
If you search on google for "arma helicopter patrol" the first link titled "Helicopter Patrol Loop - FORUMS - Armaholic" goes to this url: http://www.armaholic.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=18482 There is a solution in there, then there is also another post by the same person from that thread on this forum here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?138153-Make-Helicopter-wait-between-patrols That has a higher level solution that requires some coding ability. Coding for most arma games will include all code from the previous series, so anything that applies to arma 2 should apply to arma 3, including most coding examples.

Uhm, Because some men dont like to stare at other men all day even if it is a virtual one.... However in a game like arma i think it stupid because as a person that has developed software before thats just more crap that is going to have to be coded for gender specific equipment, this isn't a MMO and its not planet side where there is a F2P cash shop that supports the company. You see to have never looked at how a model is built, or the equipment that it "wears", everything that is worn on the chest/legs would end up getting redo or else you would end up with manly built women.

Arma 3 Alpha Server Landscape
xyberviri replied to fabio_chavez's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
I have been having a blast in Arma 3, until some one comes in and ports everyone to the same location....... thats pretty much my experience, if you want to have any fun you need to be in a full server so no one new can join or you have to play on a private server with a password, otherwise you see some random connect and 5minutes later boom server gets scripted. This is already on the feedback tracker usage of that might get you reported by parents of kids which might be considered disabled and therefore find that offensive.... -
In the future apparently human beings are not subject to inertia or weight.
xyberviri replied to pd3's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Really? because those aren't simulators If thats the case then Photoshop was the most popular "Game" on the Mac for most of the 90's. Universe Sandbox is the closet to game a simulator can really get, but it is still not really a game, that is per the creator http://store.steampowered.com/app/72200/ -
help a brother out - need some clarification on arma 3 scripting
xyberviri replied to seannybgoode's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Honestly the best way to get into editing the scripts is to just look at others missions, the best missions to learn from are those life missions because they pack so much scripting into the mission file and basically do something that wasn't intended. The big issue really is that there isn't a one stop shop when it comes to anything arma, 30% of it is on armaholic 20% of it is on the forums and wiki and the rest is just out there in random parts of the internet on forums with dead links and downloads that are all on mega uploads website(that no longer exists). -
Guys can you all do what is in your power which is to help the alpha running on windows so that when it is ported/developed on linux it will be a better solution instead of asking for some hacked up software just to run in on linux simply because you hate windows
-
IE the status is you need to wait for an update, If half of you would spend all this time reading the dang post and the sitreps and the spotreps then you wouldn't be assuming that your not getting any form of server on linux, BI already said they are working on it but you all need to learn to read the original post before going on rants about how your being left out or how linux is far more superior because of <stupid reason x> I always seem to think, for a linux admin why do these people never read anything..

This is what i use on my G510 for autorun, this makes G1 on my KB perform the autorun only, if i have my G13 hooked up it doesn't effect this. this also changes my back-light on my lcd's to red if i have autorun enabled then back to my default setting of green. toggleW = 0 function OnEvent(event, arg, family) family = family or "" if family == "kb" and event == "G_PRESSED" and arg == 1 then if toggleW == 0 then toggleW = 1 PressKey("w") OutputLCDMessage("Auto Run Enabled",5000) SetBacklightColor(255,0,0,"kb") else toggleW = 0 ReleaseKey("w") OutputLCDMessage("Auto Run Disabled",5000) SetBacklightColor(0,255,0, "kb") end end
