Nationalism is cancer. It is only believed in by the uneducated and abused by the power hungry. So please, stop being butthurt and apologetic about history y'all. edit: it's nice to be proud of your country and belive that you can do no wrong, but after a certain point it becomes a little self-absorbed. Him being german does not disprove his point by any means.

Might be hard to do outside of a scripted mission in arma. Is it even possible to do this on a terrain level? edit: Maybe include an elevator script module with the island.

European Union (Fictional - ArmA III Setting)
accapella replied to jinzor's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
eu has already taken steps towards a very state like system. europe is not there yet and eu might not get there but you can hardly say EVERY point of his is wrong based on the counterargument of the simple existence of eurocriticality. only time will tell the truth. let's not debate about eu in a thread about a fictional mod. eu has many benefits, especially economical and the highest leadership is still under control of elected national leaders and there are people who don't like eu but please this is past the point of this thread. tl;dr: shut up nerd youre in a mod thread -
A List of Questionably Empty Promises
accapella replied to UltimateBawb's topic in ARMA 3 - BETA DISCUSSION
i'm pretty sure more content will come with the free campaign dlc and if not, then with paid dlc. according to bis the game is still "evolving" which means that there's more to come. it's a bit questionable to release a game with expected features cut or postponed but arma 3's launch is still probably more finished than arma 2's was because content volume isn't everything. -
Are there going to be more guns in final release?
accapella replied to hawkwei's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
that makes no sense at all and a technical problem was probably not the reason why there are no shotguns. iirc if im not totally mistaken i think i saw a weapons list in arma3.com with the guns we have now + a revolver and a shotgun I think. Looks like those have been cut for the time being for whatever reason. i havent seen anything official about aks being in the game since the first alpha version. also gun nerds will likely disagree with your ak comments edit: When the full launch release weapons list you get among other things when you click the launch date timer in arma3.com was still a text list and not an interactive flash scrollmenu with pictures and such i'm pretty sure there were a revolver and a shotgun listed. It's been updated out if I'm not mistaken. -
This is not the type of a corner that you cut due to time constraints. Those corners are always somewhat bigger. Probably just a wip classname.

For some Arma 3 is forming up to be a tad disappointing and atleast requires more work but here's a list of things to be thankful for: Change in setting from modern day to territory which modders have not yet touched, near future. Modders will make a million packs of different m4 and ak variants but never stuff like we're getting now in high quality from bis themselves. Improved AI, the AI is more responsive and deadly. Comparing with OA shows less shameful rotation speed and the tendency to shoot more rather than move for cover in cqb. Improved performance relative to graphics update. People with certain hardware and some people who play badly scripted/highly demanding multiplayer missions get very bad FPS but especially in singleplayer it is an improvement. Less bugs on release. If not for the public alpha, game breaking bugs like the AI enemies always knowing exactly where you are after initial contact regardless of line of sight could have gone unnoticed for several full release versions. Favorite server list. Seriously it took this long? The largest and most detailed landscape in arma up to date. More buildings are enterable than in any stock island before, the biomes are more varied than before (there's hills, plains, forests, mountains, islands, a large swamp and a large flat desert), there are small detailed locations all over and despite this the performance is pretty good (admittedly again some people have serious problems). Overall the graphics are better than before from the slightly outdated from launch day graphics of arma 2 to nearly top of the line quality. Improved inventory system. Arma 2 had terrible inventory and Arma 3 pretty much fixed it completely. Good job. Weapon and gear customisation. Uniforms are made in a pretty silly way (because of pretty silly technical reasons bis said geneva convetion lol and removed cross side uniform switching instead of changing their system) but otherwise switching backpacks, vests, helmets and weapon attachments on the fly is a welcome addition. Too bad you can't remove and attach barrel mounted grenade launchers though. PHYSX. You cant make a tank fly up into the air and roll over onto it's back by accident like back in Takistan. Improved water movement and diving. Some say it's a gimmick but it's a whole new gameplay avenue Arma and many other games havent touched so far. Improved animations. People who said arma 2's movement was total shit (count me in) now find Arma 3's sublime movement animations near optimal. Stance adjusting adds a new level of flexibility. PIP technology. It's kinda nice?? Overall: 7/10 you tried well, now add more content, make ai utilise buildings and smoke grenades and fix people's performance problems. When fretting over how arma 3 is ending up like, remember all the good things like these. Post your own in this thread.

BIS vision for Arma 3 and possible future installations
accapella replied to fujix's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
If you have not noticed the aim sway becomes very dramatic and shooting very difficult at longer ranges. -
actually it's just true and that makes it justified even though emotional. arma 3 has one plane and copy pasted unmanned vehicles and armored vehicles without interiors. i hope there will be more but thats what were going to have at launch.

Things that are actually better with ARMA 3.
accapella replied to accapella's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Also saying that focus on graphics detracted directly from gameplay may really be just an uninformed argument due to games not actually having x amount of development that can be allocated to different parts but instead many developers all working on their own area of expertise. -
BIS vision for Arma 3 and possible future installations
accapella replied to fujix's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
BLUFOR and OPFOR now atleast have an equal arsenal available. It's up to the mission makers decision to create asymmetrical gameplay. Before you could ONLY create asymmetrical scenarios due to OPFOR gear being hopelessly outmatched and the opfor t90s tanks being nerfed to all hell (some people made research and saw that BIS should've infact had higher armor values configured than the blufor m1a1 tanks). Fatigue penalties seem to still be there and worse than ever before. Wounding system is probably to come I hope. Readding player suppression could be a good idea. -
people have many justified points but there's alot of people just throwing around misdirected and frustrated comments clearly without being big enough nerds to understand.
-
I think the content was cut because BIS is running out of time and will rather put out an incomplete product on time than actually finish up a good one. Saying that "balancing" might have been the reason for the cut content seems very illogical seeing how balance is a mission by mission thing instead of content volume thing.

Some of you guys obv. haven't played arma 2 back when it came out. It was so buggy it was unbelievable. Arma 3 is a total upgrade on the engine side, the content though is lacking. edit: this time all the content is deffo higher quality though and we've got best island so far.

Arma will stay kind of a shitty game (While being a great platform) if we just shut out all critique. You really need to find a good group with good scripters or learn to script yourself to get anything out of this game past the (surprisingly nice) BI content. Let's just hope BI makes some good pvp scenarios that are well optimised and actually get played by people. Arma "vets" are just so damn defensive about their fav game. It's time to admit there's problems and the deadline is closing in too fast to fix all of them, the case will be as with arma 2, playable after a dozen patches but for different reasons this time.
-
While liking arma alot (mostly due to playing it with a good group) I disagree with many of the fanboys here. Arma 3 is no doubt a badly optimised game. People with specific hardware might get ok FPS while for others the game is unplayable. Large scale multiplayer missions will dip your fps further, especially due to amateur scripting with the lack of BI optimised cti and zone capture missions. Further, the game needs some small scale missions where you can experience actual large scale combat instead of a large scale conflict where the players are fighting kilometers apart. What I expect (and no doubt many others expect) based on feedback to and statements from the devs is atleast some streamlined, professional quality missions that offer some "staple combined arms gameplay" to enjoy. Sadly the arma train is heading at terminal velocity straight for the deadline barrier. When a game lacks a campaign and content on launch and some players are still getting terrible fps in game I think things are being hurried along a bit too much.

The geneva convention says knowingly shooting a signified medic is a warcrime. Being armed strips you of the protection though. It doesn't really matter much in current time scenarios because even USA doesn't respect the geneva convention, enemy fighters are labelled "illegal combatants" which renders them outside the geneva convention.

What? Any unit can carry any gear item as far as I know, as long as your overall load doesn't exceed the maximum.
