Looks good. I hope you release this for A2, not everyone wants to play A3, even though we have it. A3 for some is just not the same series. However as said, would love to see this come to A2, pics look great. :) -
Modded Arma2, hands down the better game, for me anyway.. Playing the other night, hadn't played for a while, 140ai approx and me, I was fighting with Opfor, it was damn near perfect, grenades, rocket launchers, tactical flanking, using buildings really well, smoke, surrender, long firefights, retreat, regroup etc, it was all in there. A great battle, took forever it seemed, only a little over a hour and a half maybe, but I loved it. Moving forward then getting ordered back, regrouping, finding other routes through and around town, I was just copying the ai, taking orders (well sort of). Had a great time, just me and A2. Hadn't done it for a while, its some game when you think about it, well, some series really. Great to come back too every now and then. Not a proper mission just groups down in the editor and a single WP for each group, ie straight at the enemy with a town in the centre, just a minute or so to setup and away. Anyway I put A2.. I don't play A3 now.

To be dramatic.. I could cry for this series now.. But to be real and blunt, they have come a long way BI with this series (A3), shame it was in the wrong direction..;)

List is way too short.. I agree with @katipo66, some of the smaller simple to add in scripts, are the best and indeed easiest to use, when used in a well designed mission, they can work wonders.. -
Having not played TOM for some time, but seeing the new updates, I had a look. Is TOM going more sci/fi, vehicles, building etc, also mp. Would not harm to elbow in on the space bug that's going around at the moment. Just a thought.:)

Kingdom Come: a realistic RPG by the former creators of Mafia and Arma
chrisb replied to sparks50's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Certainly one I'll be picking up, looks great. -
Many of us knew A3 was to be more user friendly and appeal to more people, it was pretty straight forward. It is more user friendly and it does appeal to many more people. That's great, I like the fact BI have a good game that's aimed toward mainstream, not however, mainstream. But for me A2 is the game I'll always play in this series, well unless something comes up and they rewind some. But that's fine, play A2 on the highest settings, tweak the colour effect a little (richer), if that's what you like, and it still looks far better (real), than many other games out there. I do however think its very mod specific for me, if a mod that I want to use works better in A2 than A3, then its going to be that I go for. Graphics are nice but game-play is far more important for me. That is though, just my opinion, if the same mod worked as well in A3, I'd be playing that instead. Just personal preference at the end of the day.:)

I paid around £50-60 can't remember the one below the top version when Alpha first came out, anyway. I don't rate A3 as highly as A2, but I would still have bought the game even though I don't play it now, why, mainly because BI have given me soo much enjoyment with Arma/A2 & some A3, so its well worth supporting them. Indie dev's like these need all the support they can get, and mostly deserve it. The scale of the game, of course built as well by the mod making capabilities, is huge. There really is no other series like it, its one of a kind. I'll keep supporting them, bought all their titles and will still keep doing so, even if I don't really like a particular game (CC), its just well worth supporting this studio. I don't play the series like I used to do. But I still come back and play A2 (modded) every now and then, it still remains the best game ever made imo, but that's with certain mod/addons included. Look around play some other titles from other dev's, then you get to realise how special this series is, very few match up. I'm playing Space Engineers at the moment, reminds me a lot of this series, dev's are trying their best and allowing the community to go places with it. Most games just aren't like that, unfortunately.

Yeah, I just picked up the Phoenix, its a nice luxury people mover, should be fun. Just hope they start pushing some playable game material out soon, AC is not really that great. But I suppose they'll get there eventually, just hope I live that long.:D -
Needs lots more to do in ED at the moment, but they're pushing along with it. I'm playing Space Engineers too, this is another really good fun game, very much a good solid sandbox, well worth £14.99.. ;)

Looking good. I can imagine the work involved, but as you said, your right to do it at your own pace. Good terrains are always worth waiting for, I am looking forward to your release, whenever that may be. :) -
ARMA 2: OA Beta build 124802 - (1.63 build, Steam only)
chrisb replied to dr. hladik's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
Thanks @Morbid, but I have done all that, its all the same as A3, but with this new A2 install it only offers me something called 'private beta' not the usual beta as with A3. Steam also put in an obsolete beta, no idea why, but I am sorting it through the old way, i.e. without steam. But thanks for your reply anyway, much appreciated. :) -
Ah I see. Yes a five year old game. However it also looks like a game aimed at five year old's, 'run and gun', just turn off the blood. ;) I hate this type of game, seems they sort of jumped on the bandwagon. It just turns the clock back and doesn't add anything to the genre. People will buy it though, why, who knows. But the KS money may not have been the best spent, we've seen. :(

ARMA 2: OA Beta build 124802 - (1.63 build, Steam only)
chrisb replied to dr. hladik's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
O.K. so recently bought the whole A2CO package again on steam, mainly because I wanted it on a new pc and to save trouble transferring the retail version over i.e. uninstall/reinstall. So I have it all again on steam now on this new pc. Question is, as I have not used the series on steam or lets say loaded via steam other than A3, how do I opt into the A2CO beta's. When I go into this in steam it only offers me an option for private beta's, not sure what those are, is that the usual beta we use with the retail version (disc's). It says 'enter access code to unlock beta'. Steam's O.K. with A3 sort of easy, running A2CO seems different somehow, and I always play up to the latest beta on the retail version, not sure how to do this on steam for A2CO.. Any help would be appreciated.:) -
I think you could be insulting 5yr olds there..;)

Thanks for the update..:) -
I've been playing a few other games recently, different genre altogether. But when you come back to this series, Arma2 in particular, for me. It does really stand out, just how great this series is. Nothing quite like it out there, I can't help but keep coming back. I do spend all my time in the Editor though, so that maybe different to others, not sure. Anyway, this series is unique, in the best possible way. That of course is partly down to the community surrounding the series, here and elsewhere :)
-
I've played hardly any A3, but loads of A2, just preference. Those hours (5k) are extreme to me, and I play a lot. However most of it is in the Editor, it has to be said. But yes, you can get lost in Arma, runs away with time sometimes. :)

Upcoming tactical shooter from Blackfoot Studios: Ground Branch
chrisb replied to Tactical Jerky's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Hold on, don’t bring my attitude into your arguments with other people, I wrote down, only the way I saw progress, or lack of it. That said, let me tell you where I would stand for this game to get released, not saying all would do this, but I'm sure many would. They obviously need help i.e. financial, so why not charge for the Alpha, and charge, say £50—£100. Many of the players waiting to play this, will be willing, after so long, to put money in, I dare say many already have. There is a market there for this type of game again, long time since a good tactical shooter for CQB. So I would say to them, 'think', if you say your this far along, get something out there to play, in pre-alpha form if need be. Let the players get something to see/play, then its easier and better to spread the word, get it on YT etc. Players that really like this genre, will gravitate towards it via this type of pre-advertising. Provided they are confident that the product is some way along, then release a mini level, in pre-alpha or alpha i.e. Mini level for players to trial it out, will help, then let interest flood in, which I believe it would when videos etc are put on YT or talked about elsewhere. I don’t like knocking devs (well not too much;)), but they are playing a game of catch up and once that starts, its hard to break free of it. Releasing alpha for free, then saying 'see not many devs do that', is pointless if you need income to finish it. The players will decide if its good or not and true tactical shooter enthusiasts will pay to get it done. Anyway it is their game, but to get it released they are going to need some input, money wise I feel.. I for one would be in there and put money down on something playable, just to help it get along and finished. But this long wait, will just mean catching up again at some time, not very productive. -
The poll is closed, but I would have put 'no'. Still, move-on as they say.

[Concern] People keep telling me to search the forum, but I find no answers..
chrisb replied to DrHat's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
OP; The simple answer is you, along with many others me included, were spoilt over the previous years, especially with A2CO. That was, and remains, the ultimate game mix of this series (imo), A3 can't better it, only cosmetically, it certainly can't match its immersion, content or feel. Its a case of you get lost in the game that captivates you the most. For me, that is playing A2CO with KAI now (in this genre), don't play A3 at all. :) -
