  1. Hello, I've been away from A3 for over a year, and am trying to get back to mission making. I'm having a strange problem with mission overview text and images. Neither of these work as they used to, no matter if I use overviewText and overviewPicture in description.ext, or fill out the overview sections in Attributes/General in the 3d editor. No matter what I do, after exporting mission to Singleplayer from editor and selecting the mission in the scenario mission list, the overview image is not shown and the mission name comes out as the mission folder name (e.g. blahblah.island), and the author is "Unknown Community Author." Loading screen images and text work as normal. Could someone help me find out what is going on? Even more strangely, I subscribed to a mission I published on the Workshop years ago. When viewing the newly-downloaded mission under Scenarios, my overviewPicture has been replaced with my loadScreen picture, and my overviewText has been replaced with.........the description I typed in when publishing the mission (the mission description that appears on the Steam Workshop page for my mission!) What??????????????????? Have there been some major changes regarding overview text and images? Or am I screwing something else up? I spent at least an hour wading through the Biki pages and found nothing about possibly related changes..... Thanks in advance......
  2. I've only tested with one mission exported to Singleplayer, but the issue appears to have been fixed in 2.0 update!!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘ The bugtracker issue is still open, however.
  3. It appears that this issue (or issues) still exists in the 1.98 Old Man update. Overview attribute data still isn't being read from pbo exported to Mission folder from editor.
  4. I just started the scenario for the first time (after Jan. 13 update). One small bug to report: soon after start there is a task to "Drive to village." I went to the map to see where I should drive to. The task text is "Accompany Arthur to his home, just outside Luganville." When I clicked on the maplink "home," its location was at the extreme southwest corner of the Tanoa map, in the ocean.

  7. I would love to hear what W0lle would have to say about this! ๐Ÿ˜… BI is breaking their own editor functionality, and rendering many of their own Biki pages obsolete, by doing this. Not to mention wasting many hours of mission makers' time trying to figure out what is going on. There are other ways to integrate Steam data into missions. It is completely bogus that we can no longer make a mission normally to give pbo to friends or publish on ArmaHolic. ๐Ÿ˜ฃ Is there a workaround? I wonder if the overview data work as usual if a mission is packed as an addon instead of the export from editor as mission pbo? A pbo packed with the free version of Eliteness shows the same problem. I also tried packing with Addon Builder in Arma Tools, but the mission wouldn't open at all (I must have done something wrong).

I would rather not waste time filing the issue on Phabricator unless I know that the issue is a bug rather than a known feature stealthily implemented to force users to publish missions on Steam! ๐Ÿ˜’ The fact that the issue has been around since at least 2016 suggests that the latter may be true.

    Oh man. This thread is from 2016, and the issue still exists??????????????? How can that be? In 1.96 stable, I also saw the issue mentioned above that attributes of previous mission loaded in editor will display when loading a saved mission. Very frustrating. I didn't see any filed issues in A3 Phabricator for this problem..... ๐Ÿ˜–๐Ÿ™„
  14. Overview text and image work fine if supplied in Steam publishing dialog when publishing or updating mission. However, the apparent inability to have overview data work normally in a .pbo made by exporting to SP/MP from Eden editor is a problem. Could it be true that BI delegated all overview data to the Steam system and removed the ability to make pbos with all overview data self-contained? Seems unlikely to me......
  15. I saw the big 1.64 update on Steam, which I assume was for stable branch (?). Isn't that the EOL version? Or will more changes be made? To run Combined Ops, should the stable version of A2 be run, or the beta version?
  16. Yes, I concur that Bear Rising "airport issue" has been fixed! Using A2 beta.

  18. Two issues using current beta: 1) Every time A2 OA is started (A2 CO, all DLCs installed), a file named 33930_install.vdf appears in OA Steam folder. I think the file refers to BattleEye. There is some problem with the Steam client service running this file that is causing the UAC prompt (see above quote) for running as admin to appear every time OA is started. It looks like the "one time startup/installation task" is being run on every startup. Another file also appears (33934_install.vdf), this one for ACR. 2) There seems to be a problem with directional sound. If player is standing on ground, and a chopper flies in from left, the stereo sound of the chopper comes from the right. The issue is quite noticeable. Never mind. Problem solved!
  19. UAC prompt for admin password still comes up every time I start OA, whether or not BattleEye is selected. How can I get rid of that?

  21. Hi all, I couldn't get A2 to start until I deleted it and redownloaded. I was getting errors saying I had to update game 33910 - most likely the double A2 game ID issue Dwarden mentioned. After starting Steam in admin mode, etc., A2 CO is working. But I always have to enter admin password for "Steam client service" (**) when starting A2 OA when Steam is started in normal, non-admin mode.... Something with BattleEye? How can I stop that? I'm running A2 stable, A2 OA beta branches. I'm still getting the old error Warning Message: Script CorePatch\CorePatch_WF\Scripts\Server\Server_UpdateAirport.sqf not found when starting Bear Rising and other A2 missions. (**) The Steam client service is looking for a missing "runasadmin.vdf" install script in the A2 OA folder, for game 33930 (BattleEye, I think).
