Perfect accuracy when firing from the hip
djfluffwug replied to SandboxPlaya's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Okay thanks for clearing that up! I will give it a go in a second. -
I put in my idea of implementing occlusion culling into the community wishes and ideas section. I would like to see peoples views on this. What is occlusion culling?: Occlusion culling is a method that detects if polygons are out of view. If the poly's are out of view, it will then not render them. What is the point of occlusion culling?: The point of occlusion culling is to reduce the amount of wasted GPU and CPU processing by only rendering what needs to be rendered in the scene. If occlusion culling was implemented, the CPU and GPU load would lighten quite a bit.

I would like to see occlusion culling in ArmA 3 to lighten the GPU load. If occlusion culling was implemented it would reduce the draw calls, wasted CPU and GPU processing and we would get better performance. -

I was doing the fastest running possible in the game. Using the standard OA blufor soldier using the MK16 with a holo sight. Strange, it must just be my PC. I can upload some screenshots if you want? I assume you can take my word though. -
Since when was gold plentiful? Sorry, I am pretty crap with these kind of things but I always thought there wasn't much gold.

Almost all 24" monitors these days are HD. As for LCD or LED, I am not sure of how the two compare as I only have an LCD but I figure LCD's seem good enough for me and they are cheaper to obtain so I would go with LCD but I know hardly anything about LED. I am not really the screen fanboy but more of an actual PC hardware fan. -

From 250m, running 50 metres then being accurate at 30cm from shoulder with only 1 second between running and shooting? I mean, I know they are good but I didn't know they are that good? -

Well I tried with a grenade exploding in front of me and I got similar results... Maybe having a grenade explode in front of you isn't stressful. ---------- Post added at 17:12 ---------- Previous post was at 17:08 ---------- Yes I know that. A great fan of ACE2. But I figured just some tweaking would help make the firefights more interesting. It could be in a mod but I thought it would be nice to be in vanilla. ---------- Post added at 17:22 ---------- Previous post was at 17:12 ---------- Okay so just did a test. Using the default OA Blufor rifleman, I placed him 250 metres away from a large brick wall on flat ground. I then sprinted to the 200 metre mark and fired 2 shots from my shoulder without zooming within 2 seconds. I then ran to the concrete wall to find that the 2 impact marks were about 30cm apart. There was a 1 metre height difference (Approx.) but only a 30cm width between the two shots. -

I don't mean the floating zone. I mean the actual sway of the gun. -

Sorry, shoulder firing. It seems too accurate. ---------- Post added at 16:57 ---------- Previous post was at 16:55 ---------- Calculated the angle between to shots at 200m to be about 37.6 minutes which seems very low. -

I noticed this a while back. Well, what I noticed was the guns are way too accurate from the hip. Firing at 200m from the hip I noticed that the standard rifle was always hitting at less that 2m difference from the centre of the screen. Calculating that, that would mean that the gun would never sway more than 0.5 degrees from it's original position. That level of sway does not sound right. I also tested while having a grenade explode in front of me but with similar results. -

Thanks for the info MadDogX and PuFu :D The card should be here in 2 days (If Australian postage service lives up to its expectations) and I will be trying out ArmA 2 with it. Hopefully it will be a tiny bit better than my GTX275. I am definately next going to upgrade my I5 750 to a 2500. -

Would an I5 750 suffice? -

I recently purchased the Gainward GeForce GTX 560Ti 1GB Golden Sample Specs can be seen here: http://www.gainward.com/main/vgapro.php?id=456 My question is, how would people rate this card? Would it be any good for ArmA 2 or similar hardware intensive games? I hate buying something to find out it sucks :p - Djfluffwug -
Improving the Light Engine| What and How
djfluffwug replied to purepassion's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
It will happen eventually, look how far we have come with graphics. But, we should just have a seperate processor for each part of the game. (eg. Lighting, Shadows, AI, Post Processing etc.) :D I think though that lighting is a very important part in immersion. Sound and lighting. Not so much high poly counts. -

Apologies to you. I didn't realise you had posted it already :D Didn't have time to read through every post. But you have to agree the lighting is amazing in that engine. -

Lighting like this please :D J_fbvW0RNjw kthanksbye No but in all seriousness, this engines lighting looks pretty nice compared to other engines. I don't know how the engine would handle outside lighting but it's inside lighting is awesome :D (Getting ready for lighting fanboys to throw stones at me) -
Two presents from BIS ;) But on a serious note, is anything actually going on? We have not heard much in a while. I think there is actually spiders that have moved into my ArmA 3 bookmark.
-
In the dynamic civ spawning, do civs have simplified movement if further away from the player then the closer ones? I assume they would have implimented this but just clarifying.
-
Didnt shoot while moving (Damn my property size :D) But my point was that just while in sights, you should be able to move a little faster. Not necessarily while shooting.
-
I posted about soldiers being able to walk faster while aiming. I tried with my rifle and I could walk faster than the soldiers in ArmA 2 while keeping a steady aim. What's everyone elses views on this?

Walking/Running animation stopping when colliding with wall/obstactle Bomb Disposal Module (Though I guess this would be more for mods) Improved Collisions AI use grenades from crouching position more often -
I am eagerly waiting for more ArmA 3 news. It's been too long! :D

For me, I don't mind about privacy issues but when they make the interface so counter-intuitive that you cannot find anything easily and try and let the website make decisions for you, it just gets annoying. I mean, I don't mind them marketing normally, but this whole new timeline interface and all the UI redesigns they are going through are plain annoying.
