  1. eeer which GPU do you use? Linux based OSs often present some drivers issues...
  2. Regarding that problem related to 4 colors max, I think you could use some random noclutter object to get some kind of 4 slightly different surfaces, but I haven`t tested performance with these kind of objects... Saludos y Feliz Año Nuevo!
  3. hope that may be related to grid config which has already been fixed and will be available in next release... happy new (and last) year hahahahaha!!!!!

@ Old Bear: I've seen some guys making rivers over a plain surface with roads set to absolute height to -1 meter (in example) and then applying smooth roads script... I know it's a trick but may work
  5. Hard to tell, but I got some of those "font" errors when my p: drive was missing some files... in fact, at that time I couldn't binarize any island... Did you install latest version of BI Tools 2? check it over here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/BI_Tools_2 Did you use ArmA2P.exe to set up your p: drive properly? http://dev-heaven.net/projects/mikero-pbodll/files Did you try with some previous test on an island provided as a guide? http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA_2_Terrain_Tutorial http://sites.google.com/site/bushlurker/beginners-guide This is the difficult part of it all: to get everything working properly... BTW: Usually you may put natural and artificial objects in your terrain with Visitor3. You may use ingame editor just to place objects regarding a single mission...
  6. Outstanding map! Thank you so much! Can`t wait for mission and TVTs over there!!!

Your are a genius Mr. Johnston! OFF-TOPIC: Sometime ago, I did realise that not being able to modify terrain in-game is a shame... As long as you could modify terrain on the go you could get holes when bombs explode, trenches wherever might be needed, and a lot of stuff that happens in RL and infantry men see on a regular basis... y'know your shovel as your main weapon... In fact, this kind of requirement would really make a difference between FPS war game and an infy simulator...

Just want to say: Thank You BIS!

I knew you about a couple of weeks after ArmA 1 was released, found it quite hard to grasp even as rookie... but strangely there was something about it that forced me to come back again and again, and everytime it seemed to be a different experience... What I felt attracted by was some sort of freedom... I played a SF convoy ambush mission about a dozen times... always the very same mission, always a very different one... Then I had to buy a new PC just for walking around Chernarus... And today my main interest is about making game content, just for the fun of it... As it has been already said in these forums, you provided us with a truly hobby instead of another FPS war themed PC game... Your personal development and editing tools mean a lot for building a long term community, and thus there is no surprise that editing sections at these forums are among the most visited... So, keep pushing harder... Y muchas gracias! :D

    maps under construction:

I don't know if there's a better way, but you have a very much natural look now and you can notice how many light is spreading all over the lanscape, even with some clouds... You also might notice that sat color affects some clutter and trees colors as well...

    maps under construction:

try a bit of desaturate in color and gain some intensity to hold a balance besides you can set an overlay with tone filter to adjust those areas where color looks fine... cheerio!

For that very reason I mentioned (nature objects) since you can make some tricks regarding that pinus-bush object... I mean, you could move it into the artificial objects list in Vis3 and then take a look at editor map... would it look grey? keep going with this beautiful map (not an "island" as former OFP guys often say)... it's an inspiration to all of us who enjoy beautiful landscapes...

Hey McNools! Check out your "minTrees" value on your config.cpp file... There you define density of forest (nature objects) and may avoid painted green zones on your editor map... Saludillos washon!

What war does to your face. Photographs.

There is a russian war film named "Come and see" where you can see how older your face can look after a while... Saludines!
  16. I have used modo a bit and actually there is a plugin to export to oxygen2... it didn't take too much time to keep everything working fine and it's much faster and easy especially if you're making some complex models or some organic shapes... Anyways, just have to spend some time on O2 & modo to discover how they have to work, i.e., only tris or quads...
  17. whoooa!!! how did you make those maps!!!! it looks terrific!!!!

Iranian's release video of captured UAV

er... Clever guys defeating a huge threat with a virus program? EDIT: nah! I thought they would have used some sort of fancy emg weapon http://www.powerlabs.org/emguns.htm
  19. eee wtf? merry christmas btw ---------- Post added at 04:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:53 AM ---------- 0:35 - 1:25 remind some ArmA 3 footage... here we found more A3 "deja vu" IgifSVfW7zk
  20. I didn't like that part regarding config requirements... since you are asking for some standard TUT TAGNAME and such... if you want to set some boundaries just like 5x5 or 4x4 km provide some standard config... imo that could make a difference where it should matter... Anyway, I guess it's ok if you're looking for something new, I mean, some fresh input coming from newbies just like us, about a year ago... Today I found a new link dealing with (some sort of graphic) DEM manipulation, which really came a bit late for me, since I used this PS approach reading some suggestions at this forum and doing a lot of experiments... http://www.shadedrelief.com/dem/dem.html Saludines saludetes!

Every 36 hours one suicide in the US Army

War is a b*tch, y'know... and if we all would have to go there many of us would become nuts... nothing new... when you play warfare in RL you have to be prepared to kill people and expect to be killed... and that seems to be heavy at the end of the day... whether it affects to you or your surrounding mates, innocent people, children and such... The thing is we play pc war games for fun... instinct maybe, but the most of us would never be pleased to go to real war and, in fact, we won't go... Anyway, in 10000 years nobody will care... which make to wander where is actually leading all that pain and suffering? which is the lesson? 2012 happy nuke year? nah! Were those suicide guys prepared enough to deal with RL warfare? Someone might say that they didn't receive proper military instruction... so, the problem would be resolved by addressing some kind of psychological warfare training Why do those guys keep committing suicide after warfare experiences? Will many of them never be prepared for such ventures? perhaps that's the reason why remote techy HQ are so popular in these days... but y'know some infantry has to be there... and war is always claiming for more victims...

Iranian's release video of captured UAV

eee Where is this thread leading to? Ok. Iran got a US UAV ... No, they didn't ... ??? The only thing I've heard before from "drones" was that Afghans ambushed a NATO convoy towards Pakistan border cause they were blaming those unmanned control vehicles for their massive losses or such... at least, that's what i read on press... But, which is the point of this topic? Some UAVs have a malfunctioning software Iran and/or its Allies have some "new" hacking tools US might be concerned about having to update its current technology Other guys have already updated their technology
