    RPG targeting issues?

mine rarely miss, infact they make hits (the insurgents) on little birds easily not sure about the other factions, i only know this cause i just witnessed it happen twice in the editor
  2. thanks for the assistance im not on that computer at the moment, but my video memory is set to default, was running it on very high, but it never made any dramatic changes for me, in the end i left it on default though ill try lowering my view distance, i never did before considering i never had any stutter, i assumed the textures were all loading fairly quick, being its the only program i have on my SSD, but im sure theres plenty of variables im unaware of ill try to get two screen shots later of the windowed vs fullscreen problem i have
  3. why not just empty some stuff off of the C drive for the time being, let it finish then move the game over and return your stuff but, it may still have an option, im not too sure
  4. i had to update to 1.04 first, then 1.05 my issue was i had a digital download being read as a steam copy. which it wasnt. updating to 1.04 made the 1.05 patch read it as a DVD instead of steam. it installed all the way for me after that. not sure if its relevant to your problem or not.
  5. ive been running it with -winxp for a few weeks now. ive found out chaning my computers native resolution to 1920x1080 forces my in game colorbit to 16, changing it in the .cfg file doesnt actually change it in game either. it remains 16 bit, even though the cfg is saved as read only with 32 bit. the difference is huge, from a bunch of nice colors and everything looking vibrant to a dull everything being dark and bleak but running any other game/program ive got my 32 bit color. when i lower my native resolution, it gives me the 32 bit color back, but the blurry textures come back. ive also tried forcing a custom resolution with the .cfg but again even after setting it as read only, nothing changes in game- at least the quality doesnt. ive gotten it to a happy medium i can be content with, but it really would be awesome to be able to play it fullscreen with everything looking the same way it does playing in windowed mode, and like i said stretching it to full screen or even bigger it still looks better than any fullscreen setting i could accomplish. still gonna try adding custom resolutions as my native and see how the game scales them out i guess, ive got an appetite to get this solved
  6. I'm having a problem with my refresh rate, and or colorbit, but not a lag issue or any of that regardless of what resolution and fillrate i use- the game always looks like its being played in a low resolution or 16bit color, i can play the game with everything maxed out including the res and fillrate with no lag/stutter the only option that has made the game actually look decent was switching it to windowed. i can stretch that to be the size of the screen or even bigger, and the resolution looks nice and everythings sharp and clear. why cant i accomplish that with any of the fullscreen resolutions? ive tried adjusting the resolution fillrate and refreshrate in the .cfg file and setting it as read only, but to no avail my pc specs are everythings housed in a HAF 932 ;] 780i mobo q9550 oc'd to 3.4(watercooled with a swiftech, dont have any temp problems) 2 gtx 260's running in sli 4gb ram 2 western digital caviars in raid0, 500gb(the operating system is on this) 1 40gb intel SSD (arma2 is the only thing on it) 750watt pcu vista 64bit drivers are all up to date, any advice would be appreciated, ive spent hours searching and tweaking options

Any other musicians in the community?

speed can very well be associated with musicianship, its if theyre articulate while they play, and if youre into that kind of thing. forget the mans name but he said "its a sound and a feeling" - dead now of course, the original writer of dust my broom, his names on the tip of my tongue ---------- Post added at 04:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:49 PM ---------- [/color] so did paul mcartney and Lester William Polfuss(les paul) btw you didnt mention mr merle haggard! ---------- Post added at 05:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:52 PM ---------- to each there own is right- blues hall of famer walter trout would say otherwise to your opinions though- as if hammer-ons are the only way to "play fast" and as if metal is the only genre of music that has a quick tempo. but i do agree with the black metal not being the elitist like most classical musicians think they are, the musics 'chromatic scales and emphasize the tritone and diminished intervals' rinse and repeat. if you want to make it black metal stick to basic scales and chord progression but try to swerve to the more dissonance notes, avoid the consonances. voila! you have black metal awesome that you at least dont let genres be considered the 'elitist' i use that word cause the people from the symphony we have here all walk with their noses in the air, when i started learning to read treble clef i had a teacher from their- spent 5 years learning from her before i had enough and have been self taught since- 15 years of music theory under my belt- everyday for 6 hours- not to par with mr vai's 9 hours daily. ---------- Post added at 05:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:07 PM ---------- dont be modest over the internet!

    ArmA2 - The Xbox 360 thread

they make plenty of money with VBS1 - VBS2 with all their military contracts, im sure. all the previous titles theyve made as well never loss money, everythings been profit for them so far ans yes consoles make alot of money, but hell no they better not start porting the series to consoles. if anything donate 10-20 devs as a third party to help make a console game with some other company, BUT NOT ARMA!!! ---------- Post added at 04:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:07 AM ---------- go play dragon rising.
  12. FFAR's are standard for pilot, those do not lock, they are dummy missiles, whatever you want to call them F is the default key to change weapon/firing mode, you wont be able to change any weapon until you switch to manual fire, in manual fire the pilot takes the controls over from the gunner. once youve switched to manual fire and chosen one of the guided missiles, you can use tab to select a target, if its not the target you want, tab again to switch to another. ---------- Post added at 02:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:20 AM ---------- im thinking youre right, its cntrl click to order him to fire... i think ---------- Post added at 03:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:22 AM ---------- and i know you didnt ask about it, but as a tip if you didnt know, as the gunner you can use the +key on your keypad to zoom in and the - to zoom back out, comes in real handy when youre playing as the gunner
  13. use your scroll wheel on the mouse, select manual fire, press F till you have hellfire/sidewinders loaded- press tab to lock onto your desired target, and fire away thats the only solution i have, being i dont have that problem, the AI fire without me needing to tell them anything except - engage at will
  14. it all depends on the time you have allotted, the slower the better- youll have better stamina thus aim more accurately when you make contact, and your situational awareness is much higher moving slower, but without a doubt there will be times when running is the preferred choice for like you say, if friendly are needing assistance, or moving cover to cover under fire running is idea, but you get the picture

i pray they dont port it, turning in into another ofpdr disaster
  16. ive gotten stable fps in the 30s jumps higher but thats 30s in woodland areas quality appears low, and more often then not objects will appear completely dark during the day time as for the flashing, my screen only flashes during the 'receiving' part when loading, ive stopped it from flashing when i was benchmarking a bunch of different settings to get a minmaxavg of fps. im on my linux build, so ill get at those files later and put them on here

    Game won't start

sorry for the accusation, i have your fix, its something to do with the ammount of ram, you simply need to cap it to 2gb prior to playing, i think. i will edit and update this once i find a link explaining the problem edit|update: alright, this should do the trick- go to start and run msconfig- go to the boot tab, then advanced options, check the maximum memory and set it to 2048 apply changes and restart the computer, you should then have no problems getting the game to start and to use all your memory again use the same process going through msconfig and restarting, it may be a pain, but its the only solution i can think of

    Operation Arrowhead Suggestion

not sure about the su34 or the M1A1 loader, but with scripting using an arty module in the editor you can use the MLRS as artillery, youll have an artillery map, which is different then the ordinary map, that you can use to fire missiles accurately at some pretty mean ranges

    Game won't start

you certain you dont have a pirated copy? EDIT: i would post the link to that version, but im sure BIS wouldnt appreciate it. all the same theres people with illegal copies having that problem
  20. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=92416 some there cant get it to work dont question my integrity again. thats proof that it does and doesnt work for 'some' and as i originally stated "some can some cant" secondly regardless of who you are youll be missing sound files. the .pbo's will be messed up just as the other user had stated. to the author of this thread, and anybody else who are running into the same errors, dont listen to these clowns, ignoring the problem may be a simple solution but youll have missing sounds in game(for the ah-64d i know for a fact.) among other things, and connecting to servers online can be a hit or miss. your .pbo's WILL BE MESSED UP. regardless of who you are. those errors are there for a reason. just fix the problem by simply patching to 1.04 then 1.05. for whatever reason 1.05 reads digital downloads as STEAM versions, but after patching to 1.04 the 1.05 patch reads it as a DVD version and installs without any problems what so ever. and "Plus if i'm not mistaken they said in the readme patch 1.05 will patch any and all versions of ArmA 2 from vanilla or whatever to 1.05" just lol. again- it worked first hand for some, and not others. but what gets me is you say that in a thread with someone having problems doing just that. so if that was the case, this thread wouldnt be here nor would the other 3 ive come across. are you really that thick in the head? dont reply, i dont care enough. the fix is simple and this thread doesnt even need to be open anymore- just know it all trolls telling people to ignore working solutions
  21. ignoring them will cause issues when trying to connect to servers online- some can, some cant. but as i stated patching from 1.02 to 1.04, and then 1.04 to 1.05, will resolve all issues.
  22. i downloaded my version from sprocketidea, to resolve the issue i patched 1.04 first, afterwards patch 1.05 read my install as a DVD version instead of steam(which i dont even have) 1- reinstall arma 2 2- patch to 1.04 3- patch to 1.05 4- enjoy the game Edit: btw i had the exact same errors as you
