    Arma 3 Server monetization

    If people are monetizing a server, this probably constitutes "Commercial Use". In this regard, it would rule out use of any mods that restrict Commercial Use - including BIS own APL content.
  2. Yeah I'm thinking if you park on the IED it will blow, but due to the EOD "guy" you can drive fast enough over the IED, it doesn't trigger... Can tweak that.
  3. I just tested the ALiVE Quick Start (Getting Started) mission with 1.38, CBA_A3 and ALiVE in SP and it works fine. I also tested ALiVE Hurt Locker mission, works fine. Please do test these stock missions in the Showcases mission list from Main Menu.
  4. If you are carrying a mine detector, then you should be able to get within 1m of an IED. Any other player class will trigger the IED at varying ranges. AI won't trigger the IED. AI can't be trusted with regards to movement etc atm! Vehicles should trigger the IED, will look into it.
  5. Requires a C++ developer unfortunately, which we are short of atm, so no timeframe on that.
  6. This is a known issue with Clafghan, I believe its related to the height of the mountains and the AI pilots inability to navigate them.
  7. Yes, we control centrally whether or not the Performance data is collected, same with AAR data. We turned perf data on this weekend to grab a snapshot. AAR is off at the moment while we improve the War Room op map, but everything is still collected except for player movement tracking. ---------- Post added at 12:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:01 PM ---------- Please make sure you have the latest version of ALiVE running with the latest version of A3. This issue was fixed in the last release. Please test a stock mission included with ALiVE before testing any custom missions to ensure your data setup is working. As for local server support. You can easily run your local server with War Room, same setup. I guess you mean a local database? We opted against this due to the sheer number of DB setup/support questions we were getting (in MSO). We have over 4000 players, 600+ servers and 600+ groups and just 1 DB instance to support, which makes it much easier for us.
  8. Looks like it's all setup fine and connecting ok. Have you enabled Player Persistence in the Player Options? Also check aliveserver.log for any errors.
  9. Hey malcom, it is fully working now, we did have a brief issue today, but its all back and working - apologies bad timing! If you don't have any stats there could be a couple of reasons: 1. You are not playing on a server/machine with @ALiVEServer mod loaded 2. Your mission has not enabled player stats 3. Something has gone wrong... I did notice that you are not a member of a group on War Room and it looks like we don't have any stats for you. Are you playing on a server/machine with ALiVEServer running?

    Do donations work for arma modders?

    ALiVE has had a number of generous donations (and we thank everybody that has donated!), that has paid for the cost of our ALiVE Web based DB for a few months. However, the first 8 months or so has been covered by the devs, so actually its cost us a little bit to develop ALiVE! We all do it for fun, for free, with no expectation of commercial reward. However, we also specified a license preventing others from gaining commercial benefit from our hard work. Now if someone wanted to sponsor our server hosting costs (for the Web/DB) then great! I also personally contributed to CUP (and continue to). Its not shutting down and it is certainly a true community project. No one on the project is in it for money, including Kju.

  12. Yes, IEDs are working, Suicide Bombers are not yet. Take a look at the included showcase mission Hurt Locker on Stratis. You may have been unlucky with it set at low.
  13. Quick update on this. Once ACRE2 for Arma 3 releases with support for man pack radios etc, I'll get working on porting Bowman to ACRE2. This will be a considerable rewrite given the changes to ACRE2, however, ACRE2 is shaping up to be very impressive.

  15. Any system running scripts etc will likely impact CPS. It's unavoidable unfortunately. We have worked hard to optimise performance of ALiVE and ensure it does not impact FPS and the general playing experience. Please let us know if you experience any issues when CPS is low.

  18. Roadblocks will use the the profile system if placed, I.e. The units guarding the roadblock will spawn and despawn according to profile settings. The Roadblock objects will not despawn. Units that man roadblocks will patrol around the roadblock area too, so make sure they are not just 50-75 metres away. We have optimisations and fixes coming for roadblocks in the next minor release (before Xmas) ---------- Post added at 07:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:32 AM ---------- Hurt Locker is added as a showcase and integrated MP mission.   23. IED module should not cause anything to load slowly. I've had it on extreme level on Altis without any loading issues. What map are you testing? Roadblocks may cause FPS issues atm if turned up above Low. We have a fix coming in the next release. Do you see any issues when running the ALiVE Hurt Locker mission included?
  24. No plans to back port. We are committed to supporting AIA, CUP and any other major mod focused on bringing A2 content to A3. A2 has various issues that would not make it worthwhile back porting. The future is A3 :) Thanks for the kind comments and wonderful to hear that it's helping mission makers make epic MP missions.
