Oh u ment the mission named commander :) I released a pack of converted A1 scenarios a while back, not sure if u trying it from that release or that u are using the originals? The reason i converted them is that not all missions work striaght out of the box they need a little finetuning. Tested that mission and it works correctly here , no crash. Is it a specific mission u are crashing on, or is it a specific gamemode (sp/mp)? Not presicly sure what u mean with 'mission commander', i supose u mean the guy starting the mission. Personaly i run this shortcut %arma2dir%\beta\arma2.exe" -mod=beta;x\caa1;x\oac\oac_core;@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX Works without any glitch sp and mp. -

Nice just saw this, realy gives back that old ofp update feeling back. Can't wait to play the new campaign. I bet it's BIS way of making a apology for releasing some poor missions in the original campaign. Great gesture and now show us how to creative immersive missions ;) That apache looks lovely (nice its a longbow version to) cant wait to harash some tanks with it. -

Yeah what i would do is just delete all the 3 subfolders and do a new install from the sixupdater. Dont think u need to reinstall the sixupdater. As long as u got the 3 mods configured u can do a install. If that fails u can always reinstall the updater to give it a shot. -

Thought i saw this one come by earlier, probably u didnt get the initial release with the sixupdater. I would check : - check if u have a @CBA, @ACE and @ACEX subfolder in ur Arma2 dir - check if each of the above folder has a .rsync subfolder If u haven't i would suggest a complete reinstall using the sixupdater. -

That are big words for a free addon. U seriously think they made it this way just to iritate u? The part u seem to miss is that the six-updater isnt just a download tool it also keeps differential changes so u only have to update the changed code not the complete pbo or even addon. Sure there are cleaner and easier ways for this to be interfaced, but as i read the devs 1st wanna see the engine at work in a real stressy enviroment, i guess a ACE beta release is a fine stresstest :) So basicly - u read up on how the current updater works - download it with alternate methods - leave this mod and move on No need to call someones development project that kind of names :( -

I knew my post was getting misinterpret when i posted it, but atleast it keeps the discussion alive. First of im busy with a project converting campaigns from A1 so that there playable in A2. It isnt the most revolutionary project but still i spend my free time into it so that others won't have redo it. Like i said it's not that hard but in essence it is the same a modeler does (invest time into something u won't see any money for). @vilas I doubt anyone wants to repack an addon just to change the tag. Ofcourse its better to ask the original creator to modify it to your needs. But sometimes the creator have left the scene or doesnt want it to be changed. Don't get me wrong if the original creator doesnt want it to be released, don't release it simple as that. I merely asking why someone wouldnt give his permissions for someone to fork his project if the proposed changes arent what the creator had in mind. I see no gain, a basic lose-lose situation. About giving credits, like i mentioned that should be ofcourse mandatory. It's downright disrepectfull if u leave it out. @pufu 1. like i said I also am busy giving the community something back. Not that has something todo about giving a opinion. 2. Ofcourse there are always situations where it isnt as easy. My post wasnt about the scars but addons in general. If BI bought those models for OA sure there copyrighted and shouldnt be tampered with. 3. I know, that was basicly my point. BI gave us the good example i would just hope us enthousiast would follow it. I would like to make clear this isn't a stab/troll for all the people working hard to make custom models/scripts/ui's (u name it). I would just hope that the general spirit would be more open minded. Ahwell i guess im getting to old and anarchistic for this ;) -

Meh bad vibes in this thread... What i just don't understand is why original creators won't give permissions to someone who wants to modify or republish the model/script/addon. If there is a SCAR model why not let the community polish it and release it to the public. I understand that creating the originals take loads of time and effort but that doesn't change if someone is forking the project into his own. Giving credit where it is due ofcourse. I would be honoured if someone thought my work was good enough to be used again. I seen so much people beeing demotivated by the fact they cant reach a original creator or that the just won't let people modify it. Personaly i hope all stuff made for A2 will be in a sort of GPL license. Meaning that if u release something for the game u automaticly accept the fact a fellow enthousiast can modify it to its own likings. -

Great initiative, Personaly i would like to admin a server for small coop (max around 16 players) games for european players. No Evolution/Domination or that kind of missions but just good old coop scenarios for the public. Not sure thats what u guys aiming for but if u do let me know. Thanks in advance. -

Played lots of games which gave native voice support but never seen one work properly like external tools. Also with in the gaming scene there isn't a real agreement on which one is best. Some use TS some wants Ventrillo and also i see Mumblee beeing used more regulary. All these progs has its up and downs. So personally i would like game devs to stick at where there good at and leave voicecoms to the pros :) Then again if BI has the time and knowhow to get this implemented properly it has potential.- 132 replies

I'm currently working on a ArmA campaign conversion based on caa1 and oac. It's in a playable state but not good enough yet for a public release. If people are interrested in playtesting drop by on http://dev-heaven.net/projects/show/oac. Helping hands on fine tuning the missions are always welcome to :) It's basicly testing missions thourougly on triggers, loadouts script errors etc. I must say that some missions are a much better experience then the originals. -
Changed the way units keep in formation

Like the new formations alot. Tested it out on a new campaign run and its great. For instance on the 1st real mission ur team (except teamleader who overlooks) gets send into a village to sweep it up. I noticed 2 AI grouping up and started to flank right. I thought ok ill take left and noticed that the last AI was following me. So basicly the AI was flanking the village on it self. Was a great experience and it almost felt like playing with real players at some moments. -

Yoma syncer is such a nice tool for keeping up2date. Its basicly 3 mouseclicks to check if there any updates and download when there are. Just downloading the latest release myself to test out how the A1 campaign works now the AI can drive on roads properly (thanks andersson). -

depbo the original campaign and check the mission. There is a overlay defined in description.ext which makes it looks like a TV etc.

I've just read Microsoft dropped their requirement for games to have 720p resolution and fullscreen AA. So developers have much more freedom to set their own specifications. This could be a big change for the A2 on Xbox roadmap because i personaly can't see this game run with full AA on just a x360.

How do u set it up properly then? When i place one in a editor (played as gunner), go to 1st person view i only get a little crosshair and half my screen is blocked by the missiles. They modeled the gunner position very nice but it lacks a decent interface to operate it. Also turn out anim of the gunner doesn't work.

Personaly one of the nicest models in game (realy like the 1st person driver windshield), but it realy lacks a decent gunner system. I hope BIS or someone else will make realistic replacement for it.

Personaly think its a IE8 render problem. Whenever i have this issue i close down my open windows/tabs and it's gone then. -

I tried it also with CAA1 , I only see 1 insurgents so think thats solved :) Suggestion The location for the units could be more unified (A2 style). Its a minor detail tho. BlueFor/USMC/Men (Desert) - with a squad of preconfigured classes and the base classes (personaly i liked the one with the brown vest the best). BlueFor/USMC/Men (Woodland) BlueFor/USMC/Blackop Bluefor/USMC/Men (Pilots) - realy liked those jet pilots OpFor/Terrorist/Men (Ganstas) - etc Also i loved the gun the taliban boss had bling bling ;) -
