NVidia Graphics card and Arma 2

Thanks, you're making me feel better finally, a friend of mine is rebuilding one of my PC's and is adding that very same processor, 8 gigs of RAM and 3 SLI GeForce 9800 cards. The last few days had me worrying on whether or not I should have upgraded a little further on the cards, but since 8800 and 9800's are very similar, that relieves my headache!
  2. First, my apologies if this is on the wrong thread or topic, I did a search and found that in the past questions regarding sound usually go to the mission editor area here. My question concerns using custom voices and using them in Arma Movies. I have the Editor manual and use it often, however there does not seem to be much discussion about voices in it and what is needed to create custom voices. To be specific, lets say I wanted to add in "Go ahead, make my day" using Clint Eastwoods voice (And no, I'm not really going to use his voice, just an example) what do I need to accomplish that? What would I need as far as tools go? (I do have the BIS tools) And if I have the tools, in order to create those words, "Go ahead, make my day" do I need to capture his voice saying those words and than convert it? What about other words? Sorry if this sounds confusing, I guess what I am asking is, for whatever words I would want that voice to say, do I need to capture his voice saying those words in real time? Like from a movie or whatever? Thanks Chris

    ArmA Addon request thread

There isn't a specific unit or vehicle that I'd like to see right now, however, I am curious to see if someone could create an "Extended Animation" pack of scripts maybe? What I mean specifically is, as of late the, the movie making aspect of Arma has opened a new interest for me as far as the overall game goes. I use the standard animations quite often, but I would like to see about adding some more to the game. Anim's such as; - Handshakes between characters (Different types) - "Goose step" marching - More subdued marching. (Like at a tomb of the unknown soldier) - Prone, as in a character who is sleeping. - Wave "Hello" or "Goodbye" - Pointing "In Anger" (As if a character is saying, "I'm comin for you" - More variations on the already present "Smoking" anim. Perhaps someone who is standing while smoking. - Laughing. Perhaps more of a grandiose type laughing. Those are a few of what I was thinking. Obviously, one could go on and on with this type of thing, but adding a few more couldn't hurt. I'd like to think that since these might be more script based addons it wouldn't take an insane amount of time to create them and if they already exist somewhere, please let me know and I will delete this post. But, I'd like to see the "Humanizing" of characters in this game continue simply because its unlike few others out anywhere. Thanks

ArmA Editing Guide - English Version

I have a question regarding the generating of units during play. Now, I can generate units into my group with no issues using the following Command "SoldierESniper"createUnit[positionplayer,S1,"Name1=this",0.4,"Corporal"] When I try to generate a unit outside of my group, I use this command; "SoldierESniper"createUnit[getMarkerPos"Marker1",EGrp1,0.8,"Corporal"] From there I go and create a marker with the name marker1. I than use a trigger to activate the command However this is where there seems to be a problem. As soon as the trigger is activated, I get an error message at the top of the screen "SoldierESniper"createUnit[getMarkerPos"Marker1",EGrp1,0.8,"Corporal"] error; typed string expected number What am I missing? Like I said, its fine when I create it for my group, but not for other groups. I have also tried generating it to a nonplayable unit that is already on the map and I still get the same error message. Thanks!

    Generating Voices in Arma

OK, I think I'm starting to follow you. So, by using my example, I would have to capture "Go ahead, make my day" from a movie, convert it and than place it in its own file for use. And those words would be the only words that voice could say, correct? I was thinking that the converter would be able to replicate other words as well. I think thats where I got confused.

    Generating Voices in Arma

OK, its going to end up being for a movie, similar to Legislators "Crate II" so most of it is going to be spoken in normal voice. So what you seem to be saying is that Audacity is able to replicate the words fairly accurate to what they are onn the outside? Am I reading that right? I've gotten good at a lot of aspects of Arma and Mission editing, but sound is my major draw backright now. I have FRAPS for recording video and while I am still tinkering with it, I have a decent feel for that aspect of it all, its just like I said, Sound is completely new for me. I still have trouble with it in game and don't have the slightest idea as far as creating my own sound and more specifically, voices.
  7. OK, how about the correct sequence of installing them than. Is that currently correct as it is listed now? I've installed and uninstalled all of these various times and yet I am having no success in being able to open the Mod/game itself. After I just reinstalled the addons and checked the box to "Launch CWR with Addons" it does start, but than I get the following error message, "File not found CWR Units needs CWR_Weapons." It than continues to the normal Arma screen. I click to play the campaign, and than everything just hangs and it never loads.
  8. I installed the complete mod, including the V36 Demo and after I click on it to play, I get an error message "Data File too short CWR\addons\cwe.editor" What am I missing? EDIT_ Also, when I play it through the normal Arma shortcut, the campaign does not show up but the single mission versions do although it will not allow me to play them as it says "Various items have been deleted"
