  1. Yeah was going to say I've noticed that all trees and fallen logs can be walked through, I'm using the low replacement. Don't know if this is because the distance lods don't have a physical presence or not, they seem to stop bullets but I'm not 100% sure.
  2. Don't want to get you alarmed or nothing, but the last time I saw something like this was in Arma1 just before I learned that I'd cooked my xfx 7900 gt. Definitely get some kind of gpu temperature monitoring program because I think its possible that your card is overheating.
  3. SP For The Win! :D I've owned Arma1 for years and now own Arma2 and have never felt the need to venture online. I'm not a big online/mp gaming person. LAN style Co-Op MP on the other hand is kick-ass, but I don't know anyone else who plays arma2 within a hundred km radius so that's pretty much out. This combined with my angry loner tendencies result in my spending about 75% of my time in the mission editor and 25% of my time tweaking other people's mods to use in the mission editor because I'm an anal retentive bastard. This results in a missions folder full of half-made cpu destroying sp missions that nobody else will ever play because (a) the hundred mod dependencies on edited custom mods and (b) because after all these years I'm still too lazy to learn how to use triggers and scripting properly enough to make the kind of mission I'd want to release... ;) But hey... whatever makes you happy right?

  5. Ahhh. Most of the insurgents in Afghanistan aren't 'Al Qaeda' per se but Taliban (and within that predominantly Pashtun) insurgents, and as I said, I've rarely in videos of fighters in action seen them wearing anything but flowing civilian clothes/dishdashas with the odd chest rig/webbing. Even the purported armed Al Qaeda wing Lashkar al Zil don't appear to wear much in the way of camo clothing, though do show a better standard of webbing/chest rigs than the average Taliban insurgent. The only time I've seen camouflage commonly worn is by higher echelon Taliban types in their propaganda videos, but none of the footsoldiers of the type you'd usually be fighting seem to wear anything but civvy clothes.
  6. Yeah having the AI able to walk through virtually anything is a bit of an immersion killer for me and has been since I started playing Arma. I'd hoped they'd fix the issue for Arma2 but so much for that hope, I have to say in fact due to the fact that the Arma2 gameworld is so much more object rich than the Arma one, the bug becomes even more glaringly obvious in Arma2. What is the point of having all this stuff in the game world if it only really exists in physical reality for the player?
  7. Crap I nearly spat toast all over my keyboard! Those are some of the nicest weapon models I've seen in Arma2 or Arma for that matter, and that includes the BIS vanilla stuff!!! The wear & texturing is absofuckinglutely amazing. Damn I hope these are released soon, it just keeps getting harder and harder to wait for this mod. Kickass work StalkerGB! :D
  8. I totally agree. Often in these games there's an attempt to make the BLUEFOR side extremely realistically equipped and armed, but the OPFOR is just a mish-mash of whatever the devs could come up with. To my mind, the authenticity is lacking when both sides aren't realistically equipped & armed. More low-tech weapons would definitely add to this, as well as a large variety of civilian clothed and armed Taliban types, as I've only rarely seen Taliban wearing any military style clothing. Only having a small variety of enemy unit models really kills it for this style of insurgent force too.

I don't know if anyone's thinking about this, but I would love to see some more AK74 variants (Kobra+GP25, PSO+GP25 etc) (and AK74M variants) as well as some more AKM variants including ones with GP25, and perhaps a PSO sight. It might be pedestrian but I think it'd blend in with the current environment of Arma2 & missions by adding some variety & spicing it up for the insurgents/cdf forces, rather than the very scant number of AK/74 variants that the game came with. Otherwise I might have to learn to do some 3d modelling... :eek:

Shit they'd just need a couple of quick reskins for the occasional VB shirt and while driving the Commodore wearing the aforementioned, the ability to honk and yell 'showusyertits'... Seriously though, this looks like its going to be a lot of fun. :D

    Nosedive: I would guess that the list of mods I've put there cost me maybe 2-3 fps in total? Let me tell you that random slowdowns/pauses are more a feature of the Arma engine than any mods in particular. Though if you've got a particularly slow computer or very little ram that might be the cause.
  16. That's pretty awesome news about the Project Reality thing, I'll say one thing for that particular mod, it was the ONLY thing that actually convinced me to buy a copy of BF2. Not that I've played it for shit since Arma2 came out, but hey. ;) All I can say is I really hope you let us play with the Infantry & Small-Arms before you get all the Vehicles in game... please? :D Damn. Warrior AFV will be sick though. I'm a little too excited about that one! Why does the waiting always get harder as the mod gets closer?!?!?!

  18. N/P. Seriously though its probably not worth worrying about. I remember when I was tweaking the textures or my Arma copy of QG to make the partisan types look a little more worn I just did a lighten/desaturate in Photoshop, its quick & dirty but it makes them look a little more worn at least. Mind you my knowledge about texturing would be about 5/8ths of fuckall and you're the dude who made these in the first place so I'm sure you knew all that already. :)

    I think my video card just suffered a coronary in anticipation of the stress. ;) That looks freaking sweet though. This is one release that I am seriously itching for... I loved the JTD mod & its predecessors in Arma, and its just what Arma2 is missing!
  20. New helmets are rockin out! :D Would it be possible to make the uniforms a tiny bit more faded/dirty? It might just be me but they seem a tiny bit shiny and new. But that's nitpicking, they're truely awesome! :)
  21. I highly recommend using the search function. Steam Troubleshooting Thread Steam Q's & Discussion In short without you looking anywhere. Mods work on Steam versions fine. The easiest way is to get one of the Arma2 launchers from Armaholic or wheverever. Then you make the modfolders as per usual in steam/steamapps/common/arma2 and they should show up in the Arma2 launcher. Seriously though. Search before posting is your friend!

    jumping possible ?

    Am I right in interpreting various statements in this thread as saying that a jump key would essentially destroy everything that makes Arma2 good and different from the COD4 and clones out there? Cause I don't see how a jump/mantle function would break the game. Obviously the moon jump of other fps games would be stupid and out of place, but a more realistic distance/height such as that actually jumpable by a person carrying 20 odd kgs of gear would be do-able. I've never been in the military, but as a seasoned hiker, I can honestly say I jump streams/logs etc all the time whilst carrying 20+kgs without having to turn to the side and kick my legs up in the air, and while I'm not exactly breaking high-jump records (not to mention it takes a toll on the knees) it is definitely possible. They've made your ability to sprint finite and based on your carried weight in the game, so how would it not be possible to do the same for a jump function, so you can't run around like you're doing a hurdle race, but you can clear objects or gaps when you need to, with sufficient recovery time in between. Honestly, its not a game breaking lack-of-feature for me, but its kind of like deliberately cutting off a foot so you're different from everyone else, sure, you're different from everyone else, but its only cause you're missing something you should by default have. As others have said, jumping IS part of a human's movement capability, and as an infantry simulator, it would make sense to include it. But I'm not anticipating its inclusion in Op Arrowhead, thats for sure... ;)
