    CWR² Demo

Only got around to going through the demo campaign recently. And since it's been about 10 years since I last played Montignac Must Fall I am a little rusty on the steps to complete it. I searched all Montignac references in this thread, and I think I have a reasonable idea of what to do next, but wouldn't mind a confirmation. When the rescue chopper arrives, and gets shot down, the hind proceeds to pummel your squad. I assume that I have to then move solo to the extraction point. The thing is, the way I play, is to not abandon my squad. But is it normal that my squad remains in wedge formation, letting itself get pummelled by the hind? Is the intended action to simply sit and watch the hind kill everyone, or are you expected to abandon hope all and start running alone right away? It can take a long time for the entire squad to be eliminated (I got tired of waiting and quit). But am I correct in my assumption that I have to abandon them and start running solo?

    Emita City

Thanks for the heads up, I do have it and made a few missions for it. But am hoping to make some on a lush/European environment as well. And thanks for the info Raserisk :)

Mando Missile ArmA for ArmA 2

Yep, that's what I meant. Thanks for the answer! A buddy of mine is not yet sold on Arma, He purchased it, but didn't enjoy the first few mins he played so dropped it. Nonetheless I've been trying to show him the merits of the game. He recently asked almost as a joke "are there nukes?" So trying to make a mission that may win him over ;)

Mando Missile ArmA for ArmA 2

Thanks a lot! That settles the basic problem with OA requirement. I have a quick question. Any reason I can't replace the empty vehicle in question? Using any other classname? LAV25_HQ for example. Thanks again.

How are things going with Emita? I have a friend who is considering purchasing Arma, I want to sell it in part by saying there are large city area maps out there :P

Mando Missile ArmA for ArmA 2

Hello Mandoble Sorry if this question was already answered, but going over this thread and your excellent readme, I am not sure if I can do what I am hoping to do. I want to implement the echo/mando nuke for a MP game with a friend. He only has A2, so I can't use the easy-peasy scud launcher. I was wondering if there is a way to have a simple trigger detonation of one of the warheads. No missiles, no scuds, just a trigger with a line of code that detonates the warhead at a spot of my choice? I'm afraid my experience with scripting is pretty much in the "copy from the pros, and paste in my missions" department. Any heads up would be much appreciated. Cheers!
  9. I have been searching various threads to see if there is a complete list of Arma2 voice acting files. I basically would like to recycle Campaign voices for some homemade missions. Some of them are pretty generic and potentially useful "We're under attack" etc. Can't find a good list on the forums, nor on the wiki. The editor itself has a list, but they aren't clearly labelled, and I get the feeling some of the longer sound files aren't present. Anyone have an idea where I can get more info? Thanks in advance!
  10. Thanks a lot guys, you rock!
  11. Very nice. Proving grounds did have some interesting ground detail, making it possible to take cover easily, and you could see enemies darting up and down through the terrain. Proving grounds also had a first for Arma, elevated roads. Real life roads are elivated to allow water to drain into the ditches. It was quite nice to build some missions that took advantage of taking cover in a roadside ditch. Although it seems Proving grounds ground textures were blurry. In other words, if your (already amazing looking) map can have these features, I think I'll be enjoying it quite a bit. Best of luck, looking forward to it!

    [SP] Flashpoint: Chernarus

Thanks again thomsonb. I still have to ask for some coop action :P, but otherwise still very much enjoying the spot on battle environments that this mission creates. Cheers!

    Mana Island Fiji

@HamishUK : Thanks for the feedback. I would be quite curious about the mission tweaks you did. I am going back to Mana with friends this weekend, so might want to try out your changes. Thanks!
  14. Thanks for the info Wolle. I'll see how Malden2010 looks and see if I'll work on it. If the size is not the same, then I am worried about putting the time on a mission and not be able to merge it properly with CWR2 map.
  15. Thanks Hotze! @Wolle : Is this the map that may find it's way into CWR2? Or is there another one with A2 buildings being worked on? The first mission I ever built was on Malden, looking forward to remaking it on a high quality Malden map. I'll do some exploring on this one and probably start on my remake :P
  16. So, looks like this will have to be started for Arma III as well. Can't have a new engine without a homage to OFP! *Flash Forward 40 years in the future, I am in a virtual reality system*: "Am I good or am I g...*hack cough* good. Take that Guba"

    ArmA 2 site hacked

Yeah, my bad on the date. But nothing on 6th of July, or the 7th of June. If OFP's anniversary is in a 2 months, that seems spot on for starting a marketing campai... I mean a hacker attack. Gives time to build up expectations.

    ArmA 2 site hacked

Not sure if this was checked already (quite the hefty thread already), but if I am not mistaken, 07/06/02 is July 7th 2002. Nothing of note seemed to have happened on that date: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_2002 June 6th 2002 says: A 32-foot meteor explodes in the airspace west of Kashmir, raising fears that misidentifited meteor explosions could spark a nuclear war.
  20. *sounds of tires screeching* Dubious friend: Wait a minute, you play as a rabbit? Me: No, no, this is just to show that the community is really cool and active Dubious friend: So it's an MMO? Me: *sigh* no, a lot of people contribute to the game by making mods Dubious friend: By making soldier-bikes? Me: LOOK, it's 8 bucks on steam, just give it a try! Btw, briggsil's coop videos are very sweet!
  21. I suspect many OFP and Arma fans have tried to convince friends to try the game at some point, only to watch their eyes glaze over as you describe the non-COD gameplay. I found a few threads on the subject. But in my case I am looking for the best videos that sell the game. And I don't mean some of the truly excellent cinematic videos, with slowmotion, and music and massive editing. Those are great in a more aesthetic or cinematic sense, but I am looking for the raw gameplay videos that have exciting moments but that don't mislead viewers as to what the gameplay really is. A lot of the videos on youtube show gameplay, but they don't sell it as well as it should for players used to COD style shooting galleries. I often hear "I didn't see the bad guy", "Who is shooting at you?" "Why are those tanks so far away?" "All I see are tracers" etc. Here are some that I have used before to sell the gameplay. Here is an example of an excellent cinematic video (thanks blomsterdreng80) that sells the game, but that does not show the raw first person combat experience that I want to sell: http://www.youtube.com/user/blomsterdreng80#p/a/50CFD2E090634BD4/1/WLmHrxfpScY If anyone has some good vids that show that Arma can be truely exciting, terrifying and rewarding in it's own way, it will help in getting some more guys onboard. Thanks!
  22. @RudyFaase : The village battle video has an impact for anyone who stops to think about it. This game is all about unscripted combat, but you can still get amazing dramatic moments, of all out war. The other video (morning battle or something) I posted shows the calmer, sneak around, pick your shots kind of combat. @Purepassion : The first video you posted indeed shows the more epic and militaristic appeal Arma offers. I am looking for gameplay oriented raw combat footage and a little less let's say... war glorification that can be part of the game (people play arma for many different reasons). Your (yes, a little laggy) spoiler video is closer to what I am trying to show people. @SASrecon : Someone posted the Shacktac "Handsome Montage" video earlier, and I found it does a great job of showing the gameplay element. The player voices laughing and generally having a good time also helps (I enjoy but question the hipster tune to sell a military FPS, but hey, enjoyable song nonetheless) These videos may have helped add ONE player to the community. The Steam sale last week surely helped as well ;). Hoping to play online with the friend in question and add a person to my tiny 3 person coop team :). Thanks again everyone!
  23. I resisted playing the first release in the hopes that the CO version would be cleaner and have those extra nice features. The wait was worth it. Landing works very well, and is compelling. D+1 is fun and challenging. Already did a few dogfights, and loving it. Thanks for all your excellent and hard work, truly an enjoyable mod! Suggestion: In Landing, have german soldiers running up and down the trenches, give the feeling that there is activity and some frenzy on the enemy side. Thanks again!
  24. Very very cool. Does this mean all dialogue as well?
  25. Yowza, some nice vids out there. Using the "most viewed" option in Youtube really makes you miss out on some gems. @Kenworth: I agree, dslyecxi has some great videos up. The one you posted and the "Thunderstuck" video are great and I think I will use them. They mix some first person action with some editing to make it "pop". They tend to show Arma "warts and all", but is pretty honest in terms of gameplay. @Zipper: Yeah, excellent vid. Music and content are excellent. It is good as a first exposure to the game. Get them interested, then ease them into actually thinking outside the shooting gallery mentality. @Inkompetant: United Operations.net missions look amazing in their immersion, but even for me, who's been playing OFP/Arma since the start, it's a daunting gaming experience. @ck-claw: mouahahaha. Does show the lighter side of the community (and made me want to play Oblivion again, but such a long install with all the mods I use) @paragraphic l, JdB, JonPL: Some great multiplayer matches in your vids. I think these will make some good followup vids for anyone interested.
