Weather Not Syncing In Multiplayer
Tankbuster replied to chrisbaker1981's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Weather syncs for me on my server and mission. Sometimes it takes a few seconds, but rarely more than 10. You might be missing something, I'll check over my mission files later. -
I'm the last one to defend an alleged cheater, but if its true he has been playing for 7 years with 5k hours, you'd think he might have a case for leniency. Typically users like this are not cheats. How we might get Battleye or steam or BI (it's not made clear who auctioned the ban) is another matter.

some players cant see name on others
Tankbuster replied to Tankbuster's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
YES! Top man. Thank you. 🙂 -
Guys, Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? On my dedicated server, when we're all in the same squad using BI group management system, I look at Firecode and see this; But when he looks at me, he sees this; How come he can see my role and name, while I can see only his role? Position in the squad (or even not being int he squad) seems to make no difference. Any ideas?

Issue reported yesterday, the battle damage assessment secondary mission where players are tasked to fly an aircraft low over an old bomb impact point in enemy territory will stall and lock up the mission. If you find yourself waiting more than a half a minute (criteria for this mission spawning are that you have aircraft available and there are 2 or more players) then it's probably this mission that has stopped. If so, login as admin and server exec the following code; execVM "server\debug\debug_fail2ndary.sqf" This is fixed in the next version which, I hope, will be out very soon (when it's ready)™

Scripting Introduction for New Scripters
Tankbuster replied to Ranwer135's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I try to add to the biki when I can. I don't know if it's still the case, but biki signups were disabled last time I looked. So there is a shrinking pool of contributors. There's a number of people adding and updating pages, but as you say, not many adding useable script examples. I try to leave the vast majority of my infile comments intact, partially because I learnt a lot of my scripting knowledge from the comprehensive infile comments of others and I want to pass what I can onwards. Also, sometimes I go back to old code and just don't remember why I wrote what I did. Mission folder is over 6 MB and some of it was first written 4 years ago.- 96 replies

Gaming Headsets safe (and unsafe) for ArmA3
Tankbuster replied to madrussian's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
That could well fit in with our experience. I used the 430 for some time but passed it onto my young son, who has quite a small head, even for his age. That's probably extending the life of what is clearly a fragile set of 'phones. -

Gaming Headsets safe (and unsafe) for ArmA3
Tankbuster replied to madrussian's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I also own a G430 which I donated to my son after I got my G933. We've had no build quality problems with the G430 and he's treated them like any other 9 year old would. 🙂 -

My Logitech G933 has never given me any trouble. -
Wow. Will try this. I've still got a folder with some ASM stuff in it.

Player cant see themselves with animation
Tankbuster posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Guys, In an MP mission, I'm removing a player from his teammates and having them come and find him. Kidnap style. It's working mostly OK so far, but one thing happens occasionally and is troubling me. The kidnapped player is told what's going on and they are moved to a safehouse and switchmoved Acts_AidlPsitMstpSsurWnonDnon_loop But more often than not, the kidnapped player becomes invisible to themselves. Thet can't see their own body in 1st or 3rd person or even in spectator. Other players can see them fine. Am I doing something wrong? -
Player cant see themselves with animation
Tankbuster replied to Tankbuster's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I think I've solved it. I'm using remoteexec to send a playActionNow "Surrender" to the kidnapped player and that works OK. I'd prefer him sitting or kneeling, but I can live with this. This animation has to be cancelled by switchMove "", but that's OK. I've always struggled with the animations and their associated commands in this game. There seem to be loads of different ways of doing the same thing with no clue as which is the best to use. That's before we start on the locality issues. -

Tankbuster replied to Tankbuster's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
When I send "" switchmove to the kidnapped player, he becomes visible again. Note that I'm remoteexeccalling the switchmoves to every machine, but have tried doing it just on the kidnapped player too with no success. -
Ah yes, forgot to mention those. Well played.

Tankbuster replied to Kristian's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Which I why I have unsubbed from him. What we can take to the bank is that unusual stuff is appearing in ArmA 3 changelogs recently. IN the most recent, there was interesting stuff related to AI driving. At this late stage in the development of the game, this can only be as new technology proving for a future game. It does seem likely there will be at least one more cDLC. Unsung team are currently hawking for texture artists and have been actively and loudly looking for many other types of developer for some time. Personally, I think (and I can separate hopes from opinions) we will see signs of the next game late this year.- 71 replies

Special thank you goes to @mrcurryfor his list of much-improved building descriptions. I didn't use his entire script, just the texts which I integrated into the mission's existing scripts, but still, a great piece of work. @HazJmade a brilliant tool for helping players find their objective on the map. It came very late in the development of this release (literally, a few days before) so I'm really pleased to see it here. As the mission rarely places objective markers for secondary missions on the map - it tells them which town to go to - it can be tough for players not familiar with the terrains. Haz has already put a brief video on Twitter and youTube. I'm going to do another very shortly.

Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
Tankbuster replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Not really. I'm questioning the integrity of many youtubers, regardless of whether they agree or disagree with you or me. The crux is that I worry that there is only one side of a many sided argument being put here. I'll forgive Groove because I think he is using his non-first language here. But as you've taken to likening my arguments to those that you rightly describe as bellend, we're so far off topic that I'm going to leave you chaps to it. -

*sigh* Why is it my responsibility to give evidence that another view might exist? Why should I waste my time offering opinions to someone who is intractable? Nah, I've got better things to do, thanks. I did watch the Jazyz2cents (user name doesn't really inspire confidence, but nevermind) and he opens with ~ aircooling is slightly better than water cooling. Meantime here's a user-generated discussion on the subject where both sides of the debate are discussed without too much (yeah, define 'too much') "IM RIGHT AND YOU'RE WRONG" My main problem with youTubers is that the platform still hasn't cleaned up the issue of content makers not being completely transparent. It acknowledges the issue exists, but is, I suspect, wary that clamping down too much will damage income. But that's a discussion for another day, perhaps. -

And he clearly has an agenda. Others seem to say the opposite but we never see their content here. I just don't think some people here understand the difference between offering balanced advice and trying to convert others to their point of view. -

Oh, well now that you've posted a single opinion from a well known 'reviewer' I'm totally changing my view. Groove is 100% correct on everything. -

I was going to mention this to you, it does look interesting. I'll wait to see genuine reviews, rather than just the commercial shills who pose as reviewers on youTube. My first thought was, wow, that's a lot of weight to be hanging on the motherboard, but then I remember, you air cooler proponents are used to that anyway 🙂 -

AIO coolers are very popular and the problems you report are not common. I don't understand why pump noise on idle is an issue? If the system is idling, presumably there's no one at the PC to hear it. I never hear the pump, or any other part of the cooler on my Corsair. I've not had an aircooler in some time, but I do remember the Noctua fans I had then being quite noisy, much more than the AIO system that replaced it. Air coolers move a lot of air and do pick up lot of dust. My daughters PC, which is in the same room as mine, uses an air cooler and the filters fill up much quicker than mine. I've never had leaks, and a quick browse (of the Corsair) forums aren't exactly alight with complaints about leaks. Perhaps your issues are more with Razer more than AIO systems in general. I don't know if Razer have a good rep - I've never owned any of their stuff.
