The game already does that in a way. If you pick a rifle with irons, and look through the irons, and then swing the rifle from left to right you'll notice the irons don't line up, even if by a little. I'm sure this could be expanded upon, but just saying BIS kinda already has there foot in that door.

I know a few prisons where you can serve some hard time

For me I've seen issues with setting Object detail on normal. At distances certain parts of an object don't render (like crews turned out) that could be useful when spotting from long engagements. Thus I run Very High with both object, shadow, and textures, and adjust everything else accordingly for performance if need be.

To be fair the two tracks i posted were made with some very recent , and rather hardware intensive (or at least can be) libraries. Older one's don't sound as good without some time and attention to detail, and audio engineering trickery. And I have no idea really what the composer for ArmA's music uses anyways. I just posted one company's software as an example. There's several out there of varying quality and price.

This is kinda cheating but, this is what I was mentioning before about libraries that sampled live instruments, all notes, transitions, levels in intensity and playing styles (crescendo, legato, spicatto, portamento, ponticello, and some other shit that ends with an "o"), and through some very good software coding, turned it into a very complex, but powerful fake orchestra. Oh and for the 2nd track, same with the vocals. http://media.soundsonline.com/mp3/2462_Hollywood-Spiccati.mp3 http://media.soundsonline.com/mp3/2432_Allegro-Agitato.mp3 Again, it is technically synth, just very well produced synth. Hans Zimmer himself has his own library of sampled instruments and custom software that he uses (all done in-house). You can find a mock-up he did with them back when he composed for Gladiator, called Gladiator Waltz, that became the battle music during the opening of the movie. However he uses his sample library strictly for mock-ups and to help get a better feel of the music for a film with a director while the movie is still being put together, since most projects he's with has a large budget and can be later performed live. Ridley Scott was actually re-cutting the the battle scene to complement Zimmer's music for it almost in tandem with him composing it. Some cool stuff indeed. Unfortunately for indie composers Zimmer will never share (make for sale) his stuff short of some guitar samples he released a long while back.

While what you said is mostly true, you'd be surprised what you can get away with synths these days. There's whole very complex instrument libraries that allow lesser composers to do rather realistic sounding orchestral compositions done entirely in midi. Those with enough time and knowledge can make with midi something indistinguishable from a real orchestra for "most" people with the right tools. Using these are very common now, especially in television where time, budget, and demands for a orchestral "sounding" score results in the use of these.

I sorta already do that with the STmovement addon. Made my fast walk with weapon raised so fast it keeps pace with some slow joggers at times lol.

Arma 3: Community wishes & ideas- NO DISCUSSION
Steakslim replied to Maio's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
More variety of backpacks and camo patterns for each. -
One that could rise up and enslave mankind.

according to a recent interview, it's said the hard limit is 255 i think, but as seen the 128 number will probably remain the same. It isn't too often you see a server break 100 players (I know special server events can and do, but still). edit: or what Pufu said

How to improve the Close Quarter Combat experience in Arma 3?
Steakslim replied to Intezar's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Better grenade throwing alone would be nice. It's pretty difficult to throw a grenade just where you want it, especially if it's to something near-by or just over a wall, and even worse if you get stuck in some throwing animation that causes the grenade to be thrown short. additionally a roll or underhand toss option would be nice. Right mouse button for underhand, left mouse button for over hand. That alone would generate some versatility with the grenade throwing in the game, but of course things could be much better. -
short of the bug or conflict smk has with some other mods I run (spawn in the ground) i found it very handy in either pvp or coop with it's additional features. I'm already missing the sniper crouch feature and some additional prone stances.

I see, thanks for clearing that up.

I like the multicam paint on the M-ATV in the picture with the flags (like the Blufor uniforms). Also someone mentioned Pegasus being on the Iranian flag either in this thread or one of the other's discussing the new info and images. That's actually a Gryphon.

Don't get too excited, that could be the natural light from the moon.

How did this thread become a sticky?
-
That's not actually true, not for everyone at least. It's different for everyone, but there is pretty much a point where after a certain number the human eye cannot distinguish the smoothness of movement, but it's not at 40fps.

What weapons/vehicles would you like to see in ArmA 3?
Steakslim replied to archaon98's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I was ready to call bullshit on a bullet with 25mm of powder room punching through armor better than 7.62 nato, till I read the wiki article that explained it in detail. Interesting weapon there. -
You know the only thing that bothers me so far about this game is both MBT's for opfor and blufor is the Merkava. Granted there's some other tank with a railgun mounted on it but I don't like the idea of both main factions sharing weaponry, particularly armor with the same thermal signatures, silhouettes and all (yeah there's a camo difference but in some conditions that could be hard to identify). I have a hard time believing NATO couldn't adopt (assuming BIS is tired of the Abrams) the Challenger or the Leopard, esepcially the Leopard which gets no love these days from games :( .

True but i've stopped launching or even browsing servers from within ArmA over a year ago.

Didn't ArmA 1 have a poor-man's sunshaft effect during foggy climates?

Project Reality: Arma 2
Steakslim replied to A.R.Mageddon's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Pretty fun, though I have a serious problem with the British camo's inability to hide ANYTHING on Chernarus. They stick out like sore thumbs as I learned on my first try playing on Opfor. -
In a way. The game constantly streams from your harddrive. SSD improves that (helps with objects and textures popping up). From those on this forum and those I've talked to in game they say the steaming is MUCH smoother with an SSD. All this said thought like on Pufu's list, it's the last thing on a list of things you'd get to help performance in this game.

Hey, I dunno if you need any more video sources, or if these have been posted but this fella went to Libya during the rebellion and took a bunch of videos, what seems like decent quality audio wise and best of all....no music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9pFrt95H7U One video featuring AA guns and rocket artillery of some sort (rigged to pickup trucks because it's Libya rebels after all). Bunch of more videos figured it might be worth a look (or listen).
