    I have just one suggestion. Players that are not group leaders need the ability to se the names of other players. This is essential for tactical teamplay.
  3. There are good servers out there. We have great disciplined teamwork action going on every weekend. Public server, no password, no addons. No one goes out ramboing, those get kicked / banned. Look for "tour" in the server list.

Hi, When I try to install 1.05 patch on dedicated server, it keeps saying: ArmA2 is not installed on your computer or installation is corrupted. :( I have followed the instructions in here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Dedicated_Server#Installing_a_patch_on_the_dedicated_server I extracted the registry entry from my gaming computer into .reg file and edited the MAIN-part to point to the location of ArmA2 in the server. Then I copied the .reg file to the server and double clicked it, and restarted server. What am I doing wrong? I noticed that my registry has it under different location than the example. Mine looks like this: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bohemia Interactive Studio\ArmA 2] I have 64bit Windows XP. The server is 32bit XP (I think). I have copied the files from installation of another computer. I really don't want to upload another 9GB of files to the server to get it patched to 1.05. Please help..

    Time Bomb

    You have to be close to bomb and look at it after you have placed it down, and you will get action menu items (scroll mouse) for putting a timer, deactivating, touching off, etc. just as Herbal said. You can then add more time, +30 seconds every time you press that option. If you don't set a timer and you go too far from the bomb, only action available for you will be "touch off bomb" to remotely explode it.
  8. The problem is, Far Cry isn't a military simulation in the way ArmA 2 is. I really like the realism in ArmA 2 and the way it feels. I'm sure Far Cry 2 has great nice looking jungle vegetation ready, but it'll never be as realistic military simulation as ArmA 2 is.. Me too. I think it's Chernarus has a beautiful landscape and BI developers have done a really good job in creating it. If they would do a jungle island with same quality, that would be awesome.

  10. I agree. The in-game voice chat is superior in the way that people don't need to download any external software in order to use it, they can just have the game patched up and everything is ready. Plus, the direct talk in the in-game VON also fades out in distance in addition to being positional and is thus very realistic. I don't know if Mumble has fading with distance, or just positional. Positional without fading with distance is not so useful.
  11. Any ETA for the version 1.1? Is the GAU-8 cannon of A-10 any stronger in the new one? If it would be like the HiFi GAU-8, it would be perfect.

  14. Has anyone got the UAV to actually go to the set speed / altitude? I get the "SET" speed and "SET" altitude changing with keys, but the UAV never goes to that speed or altitude. It always flies just above the ground which makes targetting impossible.

In ArmA/ArmAII, you can open/close the bargate with animate command: myGate animate ["Bargate",1] myGate animate ["Bargate",0] Apparently this can also be done with other objects as long as you know the name of the animation. What I would like to know is: Does anyone know what is the name for animation for the Gate object that is in Objects (Military) at the editor? I tried to search the forum about this with no success.

    VOIP volume

    I agree. The quality of radio is good as it is now (as long as it doesn't cut off / break out), but the quality of direct talk would be nice to have something like Ventrilo's GSM codec has.

    Why dont you use the ingame voice chat ?

    I would love to use the in-game voice chat always, but it's unusable currently unfortunately. The voice keeps breaking up once in a while in the middle of a sentence/word and it makes communicating with it impossible. Another problem is the volume, which is currently tied with other volumes (effects and radio). VOIP should really have a separate volume slider in options. However, I could live with the volume issue as long as the voice would be transmitted without breaking up / cutting off. If BIS can fix the problem with the voice cutting off, I will definitely use it.
  20. I don't think Chernarus forests look ugly. I think they look great and realistic! They just are not suitable for jungle.
  21. 1) True, Vietcong is an awesome game and it'll be really hard to create such a great Vietnam experience. However, the graphics etc are getting old in Vietcong and people are moving on to other games, so it would be nice to get a Vietnam war game with modern graphics and realism. 2) This is the main reason why I hope that BIS would make this expansion. What really is mostly needed are realistic looking trees/textures that make a realistic jungle atmosphere, and afaik that can only be done properly by BIS as they have the tools for it. 3) That could be optimized I agree, that even just having this would already fulfill most of our wishes. If BIS would give us jungle vegetation with realistic feel, the rest of the stuff could be made by community. A total Vietnam expansion would be perfect, but if BIS doesn't want to do it, I really hope they would at least give us a small island with jungle vegetation made in Linda.

    VON Issues

    I agree with you all. Working VON is essential for running a realistic public server. Inviting all new players to TS/Ventrilo is not really a good option and using TS/Ventrilo kills some of the immersion anyways. Nothing can beat direct talk in the VON if it works. Having in-game voice chat with direct talk option really makes the atmosphere of the game feel so much better and improves the team play, as well as the different group channels. While fixing VOIP, it would be important to have separate volume for it as well, but most important is to make it work generally. E.g. so that the voices don't break up in the middle of sentences and it doesn't cause crashes. I personally haven't experienced any crashes, but the voice breaking up makes it unusable as we have to ask the speaking person to repeat again and again.
  23. I hope one day we would have Vietnam-era expansion as well. Proper jungle island and all Vietnam-era weapons, enemies, vehicles, helicopters, etc.
  24. The red blurred filter is caused by the First Aid module. It must be a bug that the filter stays on even after you die, as it makes no sense to have the filter still active when you are dead and controlling a bird.

    Editor Suggestion for Unit Skill

    The problem with the editor skill / options difficulty skill is that we have no idea how they are related to each other. We don't know if they override, or if they are added or multiplied somehow, or if an average value is used.
