    Suggestion

    In Arma Reforger and Arma 4 I would like to see: - a selection of fully developed melee and stealth take-downs - developed field of view / barrel and scope optics that make textures outside of what the player is focusing on progressively more blurry to simulate tunnel vision/focus i.e. while focusing down a barrel or scope, the objects outside of your focused view should be out of focus. - AI that cannot see you through grass. I note the AI cannot see players through bushes which is a great improvement - Ability to attach bombs to vehicles and objects - Magazine repacking - back blast health damage to friendlies stood too close to fixed or handheld launchers Thanks

    ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread

    I would really like to see LurchiDerLurch's AC130 script in Arma 3 without having to use AllinArma etc, i.e. specifically built for Arma 3. I've seen the AC130X by J0nes but it just doesn't have the same performance or ease of use for me as the one made by LurchiDerLurch.

    ArmA 3 System Requirements

    I too am really excited and can't wait for Arma 3 which has got me researching for an ideal PC spec in readiness. I really want to be able to enjoy Arma on high visual settings and from what I've read, there are a lot of things to consider, but as far as I can tell, there are two major factors; AI drain on CPU = low frame rates and insufficient power and speed of GPU and RAM to give smooth texture and LOD display at high draw distances with high settings. I personally like post process and AA as they add to the immersion. AI drain Because I like smooth gameplay and lots of AI, I will need a great CPU. To that end and considering what I've read, I've pretty much decided to wait for Intel's new CPU architecture for the clock speed and caching speed increases, March to June 2013 for the Haswell CPU and March to June 2014 for the Broadwell CPU. GPU A high end GPU or two in SLI, but more importantly I aim to set up a big Ramdisk with SSD to alleviate texture popping and LOD drawing issues. I'm sure a current i7 set up will deliver great results, but because the AI causes such low FPS, I'm gonna hold out until 2013/2014, by which time I suspect further patches will have been released to further optimise gameplay. I think trying to buy a machine prior to the release of the new CPU architecture in a years time could be a bad move as (a) existing CPUs should have dropped greatly in price as new CPU architecture is available (Haswell) and (b) why spend out on a top of the line CPU now when you can wait a year (6 months after Arma 3 released) and get a better CPU when the Haswell is released. If anyone is interested in the forthcoming intel chips, google "intel roadmap" or "intel tick tock"
  4. Good thread. Am pretty sure people have suggested caves before, but I don't see it in the lists on the first page of the thread. Can you please include it and make it clear for the devs that some caves would be a really great addition. Would be great if they could re-work some caves into the OA maps and transfer them to Arma 3. To date, the BIS maps consist of terrain mesh like a 'draped cloth' with rocks simply planted on to give cover. Can more detail be paid to terrain? Bank manager is on notice for a hefty withdrawal for new pc in about a year's time or so, when intels next round of chips are out.

    Great work Chill, really, really ***impressive work. I am looking forward to making some missions with this map but I am still yearning for a map with realistic mountains, caves and paths/trails over and around rock rather than hills with rocks stuck on them. I feel the BIS maps supplied with OA have not given us the really interesting rocky and rugged regions to the south-east of Afghanistan like Shahi Kot Valley/mountains or Takur Ghar mountains; the OA maps look like hills with rocks simply 'dumped' on them rather than being a crafted scenery moving from wadi to rocky hills to mountains. Chill, I have a few suggestions if you are thinking of tweaking or making another quality map. The YouTube videos of the recent Medal of Honor shooter help to illustrate the landscape I am trying to describe; 1) nearly all Arma maps suffers from looking like hills with rocks planted on them rather than being realistic rocky mountains with trails and flat sections/recesses to allow for outposts, supply cache, mortar positions etc. 2) the addition of progressive volumes of snow and ice textures and rock as you move higher up the mountains http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9Rm4ypIgSo&sns=em 3) more compact rock formation to create trails I am trying to teach myself how to create maps for Arma as I would dearly love to create this sort of scenery and map myself but if another map maker who actually possess experience and skill, unlike me, to do this I would love to see them have a go.     I would be more than happy to send you over my units. A beta release for testing will be ready soon. When I have reached this stage I will post a filefront link. I have a few major issues to resolve first, but with the very kind help of other members these are being addressed presently. Ideally, I want to get the patrolpack to be a separate p3d model assigned to the unit p3d by a proxy and I want the patrolpack to be capable of being removed and put down by the unit and then picked up and put back on again by way of script and config so the control is made with the centre mouse wheel. This is going to take some time as I have poor config & scripting skill and as for animations, I do not know where to begin so the unit will be released for beta testing without this functionality. If anyone reading this post thinks they can help with any of my ideas for the patrolpack as described above, please PM me as I would love to hear from you!! Thanks

    Hey fellas, many thanks for your suggestions but alas I can't get it to work!!! I don't know if I'm being a tool or it's my texview2 or photoshop not working properly? Can I ask very kindly if either of you or indeed anyone out there in the community who may be reading this and would be willing to have a go at fixing the issue for me. I am more than happy to forward you a zip folder with the mlod of the Bergen and associated texture files for you to play with. Hi there, After releasing the Bravo Two Zero Gulf War 1991 units earlier this year, I had a bit of a break and have been working on a Bergen and some long range units for the Afghanistan/Pakistan theatre. My unit is the one with the desert/woodland DPM, the other units are from the LoBo Taliban release. Any comments/feedback would be welcome. I am still learning I'm afraid! I am having problems with the Bergen; it's see through!! I'm not sure what I've missed in Oxygen 2 when modelling it, or in the texturing process, but if someone can help me figure it out I would be very happy! Best wishes, Munkee Here you go:

    Stalker, mate glad you're putting out your work again fella..it's class as usual! I've started doing stuff again, after finishing my Bravo Two Zero SAS units I had massive break, but am now working on UK Special Forces stuff from Afghan/Pakistan i.e. worn DPMs, Beards, backpacks etc. Would this bergen be of any use to you with your release? I have a grey texture for it only at the moment and the pouches on the rear need re-UVmapping ideally to the bergen texture and texturing properly

Based on the 8 man UK SAS Desert Patrol Team Bravo Two Zero from 1991 Gulf War theatre In order to make these units work without the need for 3rd party addons, there has to be a sacrifics on their weapon loadouts. - 4 members with M16/203s, 1xM136, 8 203 bombs, 1x grenade, 1x white smoke. - 4 members with Minimis, 1xM136, 1x grenade, 1x white smoke, M9 pistol and 8 magazines. Units have a mixture of Woollen Hats, Shemaghs, rolled up sleeves or long sleeves, googles, swathy skin tones and facial growth, worn fatigues. CHANGELOG This release (v1.1), is hot on the heals of the inital release (v1.0) and USES NO 3RD PARTY ADDONS - JUST DROP AND GO! Many people commented in the BI FORUMS that the v1.0 addon relied far too much on 3rd party addons, and yes it does. I haven't had time to put together a UK SAS weapons pack. Sorry. A full and proper 2nd release will follow v1.0 and v1.1 which will; - Work to update the inital release by providing 8 further models WITH bergens (large packs) so you'll be able to choose between having bergens or not. - The 2nd release will also have a dedicated SAS Weapons Pack so there won't be lots of 3rd party addons to have more accurate weapons. - The 2nd release will also aim to fix things like proper classnames, blood textures, shadow volumes and other minor things which aren't fully working with these inital release. The 8 units have worn fatigues, swathy skin tone, facial growth and as realistic a loadout as I can give them at this time. At the moment, they have no bergens (heavy pack), this will be included in the 2nd release of this addon later in the year. 2nd release will also work to fix things like blood textures which do not work at the moment.
