AA (America's Army) did a fine job on the hit effectiveness on soldiers when it came to general health, but not specific points of impact (of what I am aware of). The fact that you slow down significantly and even bleed to death kept some online games very tense. I am not sure how much more or less damage can be taken on a leg compared to an arm since the only way to test it would be on LAN with a friend who is willing to let you, or an extra computer. I know that head shots are one-hit-kills though as they always tend to be now-a-days.

That's normal. It feels more realistic because of the models manipulation of the object at hand. When looking around, it makes sense for the rifle to have some movements because of the arms independent movements. Games like AA were weird because of the rifles unusual stiffness (zero movement) when walking, looking, peeking, and squating. I am limited to posting accurate screenshots since I don't have ArmA yet, but I am judging from videos and screens I have seen. Here are some pictures comparing ArmA to VBS1. ArmA VBS1 I made sure I positioned the rifle as accurately as possible; it was tough due to minimizing. The rifle in ArmA tends to lean to far to the right. It seems as if it is at elbow level and at the side of the body (Half-Life 2 style). As where VBS1 has the more natural buttstock-to-shoulder feeling (Rainbow Six 3 style). VBS1 This picture is positioned so that the model is looking straight forward to give you a general idea of how it should naturally look. Remember in OFP1 when you could only see the tip of the M16 at certain points of movement? It was scary. This is just an idea/suggestion and not a demand Â

Is it me or does the rifle look like it is at the hip of the soldier in first person view? OFP was the same way, but I think VBS1 was spot on in the first person view. It actually looked and felt like the rifle's buttstock was against the models shoulder.
-
Does VBS use a different physics engine other than OFP's, or is it just evolved? If it's just an evolved version, maybe ArmA uses the most recent version of it, and then ArmA could at least feature walking on and shooting from moving vehicles... It is an evolved version, but only minimal changes. The quote JdB put up from DMX best describes it. The same rule applies when you purchase a regular base truck or computer.
-
I never knew of this vehicle before, but I got to say that it looks great! Kudos to the model progress.

At least this shows its possible, sometimes it looks like most people think the game is so bugged it plays crap on all systems, no matter the specs (Ok, this is an very high end PC, but even mid-range PCs can run the game fine) It reassured me that the computer I should soon buy will run it at the exact settings he described.
-
Haha...yeeee... Gee, I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I travelled eleven years into the future and bought a computer that runs this game quite well. I will tell you, its not very high end or anything.

Fantastic!

Gimpy, I looked back and you never really asked. I just saw a bunch of sarcasm. If you had enough time to search through pages for a release date, I am guessing that you at least went through the first page, first topic. -=UOE.Txalo=- Keeps it updated regularly. Also, the Biki page is updated regularly. Most fans from the US will also purchase the UK version which means people to play with regularly and not some casual gamer who will spend part-time online for the first few months before buying another '7331 GaMeZ wiTh teh VehicleZ'.
-
Just purchase the UK version if you don't want to wait. I am sure you can bare those extra letters in words. Also, let's not give the U.S. a bad reputation, please. Not all of us are overpaid, hell, I once got fired for not knowing spanish.

should you be able to move and shoot in ARMA?
MAA3057 replied to --DST-- HIGHLANDER's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I don't think I have answered the topic/question yet, but my answer would be no. -
Interesting question CT, I was just thinking about this the other day. I thought it would be nice to keep the same unit types and uniforms. I liked how the default upgraded units (soldier models) looked in VBS1. Aside from that, a few new things would be refreshing if convenient.

I figured if the actual developers of this extention were ready to submit WIP images and a tangible discussion, then they would. I respect that. We all know first hand how uncontrolled a community can get when hard evidence starts popping out.

Boo yeah! The CROWS can be done with scripting skills too. I'd love to see this right next to a Stryker in any BI software. One was done, but wasn't complete. I know CBT can do this with great justice! CROWS Humvee: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/m101-crows.htm

It would have felt more complete to include it; having a campaign to play as the Soviets and not just the Americans and Resistance. Total transition of the GOTY edition. I understand why it couldn't go through though.

Go here if you're downloading at 4KB from OFP.info's FTP#1 server (im all the way in TX from CZ, so yep...) http://www.tv.com/uservid....bsJsz_Z

It beats this, lol. Mind the Russian animation, "or else you will die!" (Look at Link rub up against hajji at 1:20) ONTOPIC: I am not entirely familiar with the OFP:E voices but I don't think they should recreate the dubbing for an extention. I really don't mind it unless audio quality (compared to ArmA) is involved.

I think we need a mission made after 'The Birds'. Doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Sounds solid Raedor. Any chance on a Red Hammer extention?

I SO totally agree! No BMP 1, T80, T55, M2A2 ans M60 is a huge mistake - but keep in mind - the bmp2 was'nt in OFP until Red Hammer, so let's see what's in the first expantion pack to Arma... Wait till Cold War Rearmed. .

Very impressive video Acacyn. Very immersive.

Hey BlackDog, there is no more Left-Alt for freelook?

Don't know why...the Americans did invent the mechanical vehicle. No they didnt. Â The first 'vehicles' were made in UK, Germany and France. As for American firsts, Henry Ford just made mass production practical. I think only one country can be the 'first'. http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/mysteries/auto.html
