Well EAX and Hardware acceleration works perfectly in just about every other game. It will probably be fixed in ArmA in a patch. Once you have a decent soundcard you wont want to go back to that onboard junk.

Or you could get it from http://www.sprocketidea.com at a normal price. Buying from Ebay at that price is just stupid. Amazon.de also sell it at a normal price.

Well it's for the cheap people . It's still a nice alternative for people who are not willing to spend the money on TrackIR. Up/Down movement would be good to control your stance, ie prone/crouch/standing. Maybe you can set it up in the control options.

You need to set NewView to get camera info from Cam2Pan. Use the Config.exe, go to the "helmet" tab and set it to get data from "external interface".

No, NewView can work with Cam2Pan to track your head movement. You need a webcam.

Yea maybe someone who got it working should write a guide to make it easier for others. @RobNob: Download Cam2Pan and NewView, you will probably manage to figure it out yourself. Is there and free software that can be used instead of Cam2Pan? I know 10$ isn't that much but free would be better. @Universal: Any luck using Freelook instead of Cam2Pan? Edit: Yea Loslav's post on Pg2 should make a decent guide, though I haven't looked at it myself.

@Heatseeker: I feel the same way . I'm seriously considering the Czech version though. On http://www.armedassault.info there is unofficial info that the ArmA demo is planned for release in around 1 week. This sounds good, but might just be a guess based on the fact that it says "Demo coming soon" on the ArmA official site under "Downloads". This might help me wait until the 505 release. I hope it's true.

By their looks the islands have noticeable climate differences and that would look a bit odd. Placement of the islands should take the climates into account, but it will still make porting missions harder.

Best guess is probably some time after the US version is released, not sure exactly it depends on agreements with publishers, but chances are no US publisher will sign the game knowing that an English version is available for download weeks before they're able to get boxes in stores. Well that sucks . Maybe I'll just get the Czech version. Thanks for the reply.

Well if the game isn't running at that high framerate then it's not going to help. While the camera movement probably wont be perfect, the TrackIR price is just plain ridiculous. Do you really think it costs that much to make? I'm not saying I wouldn't like to have TrackIR - I would, but with the price so much higher than the webcam solution I don't think it's really worth it for me right now.

You haven't mentioned you system specs. I have seen posts by people playing fine on a Geforce 6600 and Radeon 9600. Also, there is already a topic for this.

Well what do you think post processing is for . It's no bug, it's depth of field. Same effect you see in cutscenes.

Besides AA, AF, Post Processing and Shader Detail which affect mainly the Graphics Card, they use everything . For example the viewdistance needs more RAM to load distant scenery, more CPU to render it (prepare it for the GPU), more GPU power to do the rendering and Hard Drive to load the distant scenery off of it and into the RAM. There you go .

Well you can turn other graphics options up without as much hit on performance as before. You should be able to have everything besides Viewdistance on the highest setting.

Having "100fps at 1600x1200" is not much of an advantage, lower spec pcs can turn down graphics options anyway. Read the rest of my post that you quoted, no point repeating myself.

Thanks Universal, that sounds good. Now I need to get myself a webcam . As for the lack of leaning and zooming, buttons handle that fine so I don't care. And in other news, ArmA has just been put up on Sprocket! Link Only in Czech though . I know about the English translation patch, but an official English version would be better. Edit: ArmA just disappeared from Sprocket, might be back soon though. Wonder what would have happened if I bought it fast enough

On Tuesday there was news on the Sprocket site that ArmA would be available today, shortly later the news was removed. I don't see ArmA there, so when will it be available? I know there is the German download and an English translation patch, but I want an official English version. I sent a message on Wednesday using the "Contact Us" page and I have not received an answer.

NewView emulates TrackIR, so the game thinks it is TrackIR. I know it's not as good, but it works. TrackIR is alot of money, and besides ArmA I wont have much use for it. Maybe if I start playing more race and flight sims I will use it, but right now I don't. Although maybe I should get into more sims, since I don't make enough use of my Logitech MOMO wheel and my old Sidewinder 2 force feedback joystick I'll probably get TrackIR someday, it just doesn't seem worth it at the moment. @Universal and Lolsav: How well does it work? Are there any problems with it?
