Ten Big Companies That Are Veering Toward Bankruptcy

It would be bad news if Nvidia was left without competition :(
  2. I think it would be better to include the missions. By now many of us should be used to playing missions where we have to read all the speech... Maybe some people could volunteer to do voices. They couldn't be much worse than some of those Xbox version voices :p

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

Interesting. So at least people will be able to add content, that's good. Hopefully it can be organised somehow like the mod folders ArmA has.

I want to experiment with realism

No, you don't replace it. The code should work as-is. http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/forEach

So the scripting allows you to make maps outside the 2km box for PvP and have players over 275m or so apart in coop? It's hard to imagine a scripting system that can make your own game modes when there are those weird restrictions, after all in ArmA those kinds of restrictions can be fully controlled by scripting if they were wanted... How do you know this?

I want to experiment with realism

No, it executes for each unit in the player's squad.

I want to experiment with realism

{_x allowdamage false} foreach units player

Just Got the game :) few questions

My performance in 1.04 is the same as before, maybe a tiny bit higher in the big cities. I'm using Win 7 Pro 64 bit. Nothing wrong with running the game in a 64-bit OS.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

Probably because most of them are used to games with small maps and think 2km is huge. Anyway, I doubt the game allows enough units to make use of a bigger space...
  10. That doesn't mean you aren't running the beta. As I said, check the main menu.
  11. Setting transparency AA to Supersampling on my old Geforce 7800GT worked in ArmA when I tried. But the performance hit was huge. Don't know about ArmA 2. In ArmA 2 on my HD 4870 I get less of a performance hit by using 3D resolution at 125% than using even low AA, and it looks better so I stick with that.

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

This discussion is getting too personal. Quit using this forum as a place to flame the staff at another forum. I'm no fan of them either but this is damn childish. This is starting to get as bad as their forums. Back onto the game... Well MP is now proven to suck. Small maps or a ridiculous 'tether' which kills the usefulness of aircraft in coop and makes it hard to have a sniper doing his thing while keeping distance from his 4 man squad... I just want some info on the SP campaign. Is there any story, with characters? Cutscenes? Or just dull mission after mission? That's the only thing I'd possibly get the game for now.
  13. It's in you graphics card driver settings, not in the game.
  14. Look at the version number in the main menu to be sure you're actually running 1.04... 1.04 brought back the disc check for me.
  15. The difference for trees and grass is because MSAA does not affect transparent textures unless you turn on Transparency AA (Nvidia)/Adaptive AA (ATI). That's how the hardware companies made it, it is not a bug.

    New patch 1.04

Your post is useless and a waste of time if you don't bother to explain the problems. Saying it doesn't work is BS, I play it often and it works very well.

    Windows 7 32bit or 64bit?

Mine is using 1.18Gb right now. How much RAM do you actually have? And did you turn the fancy visual effects off? I've go a few things running, Firefox, Skype, and minor stuff. Win7 Pro 64-bit. I have 4Gb RAM.
  18. I think it's highly unlikely they would take an engine that would need to be completely reworked when they already have one that is perfect for their purpose. So instead of wasting time doing things over they can focus on improvements instead. And it sure looks like the ArmA 2 engine there. Anyway, it looks awesome. It does look like some weird Photoshop or post-processing filter is used. But either way, I'm sure the final game will end up looking very different because there is still plenty of time until release. Come on, as if it's going to make a 2010 release :p
  19. Filrefront is a file hosting service, anyone can post files there. Those are files that users have uploaded. It's easy enough to use Filefront and not download those three files surely? It's not Filefront's job to worry about what every crappy AV program says about their site. I'm sure they would check on those files if they were brought to their attention.
  20. Well considering it even flags Filefront as unsafe, I'd say it's just Norton being crap. (Edit: Reading that page you linked, it's actually only marking 3 downloads as unsafe) That site has been around for years and is used by thousands, possibly millions, of people. I agree with the post above. Norton is crap and there are free AV programs that are better than it. Avast is a good one.
  21. Because ArmA 2 limits scripts to 3ms per frame to prevent them from bringing down the FPS too much. What should help would be putting some code into functions that are called with the "call" command, since the function will be processed in one go before the next frame is rendered.
  22. You might be able to get around it with a proxy server. There are some free and legal ones around as far as I know. Don't use them myself though so I can't say any more.
  23. That would give you a small graphics boost. Maybe a Radeon HD 4850 would be a better choice, although things are still limited due to your CPU.
  24. Actually it will. I tested it right now... .50 cals probably don't penetrate as well as they should, but if you try something bigger like the 30mm on the BMP3 it penetrates just about any wall.
  25. The mod is suppose to leave only the highest LOD according to the description, but all I see when I use it is a low LOD. Without the mod: With "Very High Vegetation" mod: Isn't that the opposite of what it's supposed to do? And I checked to make sure I wasn't running the "low" version. Using "Vegetation_VeryHigh_Visuals_R_PROPER.7z".
