Global Mobilization - To higher price to pay

GM is a CDLC. (I don't mean to be pedantic) Also, the bottle of Vodka in my cabinet cost more than GM. The number of hours I've poured (see what I did there) into GM is a much better value too.

    1.90 update - Troubleshooting

10 x 14 createvehicles = 140 (yay, I can still do basic math 🙂 ) doesn't look much different to some jerk spawning 140 aircraft carriers. A similar analogy would be a DoS attack vs a Black Friday sale event overloading a web server. Both appear as attacks, the only difference is their intent.

Would that be the "lovemaking sounds"?
  10. In at least one of those screenshots, you ARE running mods. At the bottom, to the right of the PLAY button, click the down chevron ▽ and select "play without mods" If that works, my next suggestion would be to create a new user profile. If you cannot get it to launch via the launcher, use the .exe and do the same thing. The reason behind this is that your default user profile may have been corrupted.

Arma 3 - Creator DLC Discussion

@stburr91 Like the others, I too am a bit confused about your post. To me at least, it appears as if you believe that it was BI's decision to create this setting and time frame. This is incorrect. This was wholly the creation of the GM team. I'll not repeat what's already been stated, but here's the link to its "origin story" https://arma3.com/news/report-in-vertexmacht-global-mobilization#.XMSHmuhKiUk At 22GB, that makes GM larger than any of BI's DLC's, so the "there isn't nearly enough content for it to truly stand on its own" carries no weight. Let's take a look at what it has shall we? 42 Vehicles & Vehicle Variants 21 Weapons Infantry Clothing & Gear 10-Mission Singleplayer Campaign 17 Multiplayer Scenarios ..and... Weferlingen Terrain, "the largest Arma terrain released so far: 419 square kilometers of usable area." https://store.steampowered.com/app/1042220/Arma_3_Creator_DLC_Global_Mobilization__Cold_War_Germany/ Again, as described in the "Report In" segment, this was the creator's decision, not BI's. Having grown up during the cold war, the significance of places such as the Fulda Gap is not lost on me. East and West Germany featured prominently in the works of Tom Clancy (Red Storm Rising), Harold Coyle (Team Yankee) and Ian Slater (WW III: World in Flames). The very survival of Europe depended on these strategic locations, so important in fact that the United States based nuclear missiles in Germany, leading to its own "cold war" with the German people. Again, see above. When compared to a BI DLC, it is massive, and far from incomplete, but I still think you are missing the point, this is the work of 2 people. 2 people who created this in their spare time. As far as "why BI would choose something like this for their first 3rd party DLC" I think that's down to the fact that it was the first one completed. As described in the CDLC FAQ, it is a long and arduous process to ensure compatibility, quality, etc. "it isn't really a DLC, it's a pay for play mod" Finally, for many years, users have complained that server owners were able to monetise whilst mod makers were prohibited from doing so. The CDLC programme finally gives mod authors a chance to do so. That is part of what differentiates a CDLC from a mod. EXCERPTS FROM THE CDLC FAQ https://arma3.com/dlc/creator

@Bob Kilbourne First and foremost, permission should always be obtained prior to editing someone else's work. Secondly, as PuFu has correctly pointed out, you are attempting to edit something that has been ripped (stolen) and that is D3S models which are prohibited on this forum. Once you get permission from a legitimate mod maker, there are plenty of tutorials available on this forum.

There was a misinterpretation of the No-crossposting rule. As one of the senior community moderators, I take responsibility for that, it should have been communicated better. However, Discord is not It is operated by many of the same moderators here on the forum and we share the same rule set. With that in mind, if you would like to ask as a detailed question which may be of use to future users, then the forum is always the place to post it. Carry on.

    Adding New Things

@Internet_ARMA3 Arma takes place in 2035. In that timeline, the M-16/M4 platform (of NATO) had been replaced with the MK16 (FN SCAR). This has basis in the real-life adoption of the SCAR by USSOCOM in 2009 (in use by operational units). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_SCAR So, not having the M-16/M4 platform isn't so unrealistic after all. As for not wanting to pay for DLC (whose sole purpose is to "add to", "augment" and "build upon"), the good news is that Arma gives all of the features of DLC to Non-DLC customers. "A key component of our new approach is the idea that, while new content is paid, new features are entirely free. This enables us to grow the platform with significant new gameplay updates for everyone who owns Arma 3, while offering up great extra content for those players who want to experience it and support our ongoing development." In that vein, mods such as CUP provide a Smörgåsbord of weapons, units, vehicles and terrains ABSOLUTELY FREE! In fact, there are 9 different variants of the M-16/M-4 in CUP Weapons mod alone.
  23. Just seen this So, a 29.2 FPS difference. I think my entire PC build was under £700.... oh, and I have a GTX970, so that GTX 1080 is good for about 4 FPS 😂
  24. In the grand scheme of things, that doesn't mean very much in Arma. Not to mention, you're still reliant on the performance of the server you're playing on and your connection. Sports car and dirt road again. If you're just going to keep it offline and use it for ML, that's another story entirely.
