    controls hanging or sticking

Double tapping the left ALT button will free your head completelly. Meaning when you turn you will only turn your head and your body wont follow. Double tap ALT again and its all back to normal. My own keyboard wich i have to scrap somehow makes the WASD buttons stick at times (not pushed down but rather electrical problem) and i keep running to the side for example. And the third thing as explained above that in some missions (EVO & DOM and maybe more) can give you the "head bug" where the missions maker has to add a function (custom made menu with different options) where you can chose to remove the head bug. Hope that helps.
  3. Its not new Bravo. We knew this for months already. Its in one of the first videos about OA on youtube. A hungarian guy working at BIS is saying this in the video.
  4. I got the i7 930 now together with Nvidia GTX275, 6GB OCZ 1600MHZ RAM, P6X58D Premium motherboard and a WD Black 500GB and the performance now is amazing. Chernogorsk with no popping houses or white (no textures) surfaces. Smooth all over time running around in there. Im also not going too high in settings as we know you cant do that in this game. Having godly trust in your HW and raise settings too much will result in CTD's. Since i run HIGH and and 3-5000VD i can play smooth and with no CTD's (so far none in the new beta). I never turned off HT but i used the -CpuCount=4 and i have no stutter. I would highly recommend the gear as its not the best or the most expensive, but it moves ARMA2 super smooth and i can enjoy the game to the fullest. Im also not a person that looks for all the problems in this game, but enjoying it with good friends. Playing ARMA2 this way is all pure win. :)
  5. LOL funny stuff. :D And true. When you start looking you can find problems, but when you enjoy this game with good friends you see all the fun you get you from it instead. And what great fun it is! :)

    Friendly competition idea?

Think you need more restrictions maybe? Someone using ACE with wind and someone with ACE but no wind will have a great difference in skill. :)

    ArmA 2 I/O analysis results

Aha, thanks a lot guys! :) A friend wondered (and me too actually) how RAMDISK works with whole programs. Like if you have to install the program into RAMDISK or if the installed program can just be copied up to RAMDISK and then started from there (send exe shortcut to desktop from RAMDISK)?

    I like the sounds

If i should specify then its the explosions wich i find too monotone since its basically the same explosion for all bombs and many impacts. Variation in them and a bit more power/umph would be nice. A part form the sounds themselves i would like for us to get close and far classes. Now we have a software occlusion filter (wich is pretty nice though), but with a new "far" class we would have sounds made specifically for the distance. Imagine very thumpy and low key bass explosions in the distance or MG's with long occluded trailoffs (echos kinda). This is something i would really like. Maybe it comes from having worked with sounds in the past. :)
  9. Not comparing anything really. Just that the flying is very smooth. I can only report what i see on my current system and i agreed to what someone said about the flying being really smooth.
  10. Maybe there are planned videos etc that will come up on ARMA2.COM and they dont want everything to be shown prematurely. Also maybe some features are not complete yet so showing them can have a negative impact as they are WIP. Dont know but i guess some of this is true?
  11. Yes i think so. But you might be able to use the random house generator module out there to create a village though. But if it wasnt "clean" i think it would mean ending up with loading millions of objects wich would be very bad for performance - im guessing. ARMA2 has over a million objects and thanks to it in the current state of the engine overload our poor pc's they made less objects in OA. So im not sure how that would work, but thats a whole other topic. :)

    Isla Duala

What JW mentions is easy to "spot" IceBreakr. Drive on that runway from one end to the other and listen. You notice that every 5 meter or so there is offroad/sand sound wich also slows you down little. Should be tarmac all the way so to speak but the sand underneath comes through ever 5-ish meters even though you cant visually see the sand. Symbolic of the problem ("---" = runway tarmac, and "|" = runway sand): Runway is like this now: ---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|--- When it should be like this: ---------------------------------- I think this is what JW means. And maybe you understood him. So sorry for over explaining in that case. :)
  13. Yup nice find Walker. Like this a lot: "Another area receiving attention is the black and white thermal optics simulation, which now behaves with a mildly OCD level of detail. Look at a soldier through your night-vision goggles and he'll glow white, but his cold gun and equipment would be much darker. As he begins firing, separate parts of a gun warm up, lighting up the barrel. An idling jeep would have a hot engine, but cold wheels, which warm up as the vehicle begins to move. It all makes night missions a much more intriguing prospect - sitting on a hillside a couple of kilometers away, peering at a base through night vision goggles, how are you going to find that target vehicle when the engine's been turned off and it's as black as the night around it."

    Pre-Order Of Operation Arrowhead???

^^ Oh sorry. Thaugt there was an OA group already started by you. Didnt mean anything more than that i thaught you knew more about if it comes to steam or not. :)

    ArmA 2 I/O analysis results

My friends Win7x64 takes around 500MB idle, but mine take 1,2GB. Thats odd since i have only the system files running. But anyway... Just installed RAMDISK and trying to get my head around how it works. Even the PDF is a bit cryptic to me as i dont get yet how the game will know to use the PBO's from RAM instead of from the ARMA2 folder. More reading and understanding needed on my part. Will post results when i "get it off the ground".
  16. Flying is amazing in the beta definatelly. Removing grass when at faster speed flying is a good idea. Even at 10000VD when i fly now there is no lag/stutter at all. Super smooth. Ground i have to test more on. The trees still kill the performance even on my new machine. They drag down FPS a lot.
  17. ^^ Yeah i know MadDog, but i thaught about "object count" wich is said to be lower in OA. But with infinite land + all vegetation and rocks etc object count to load up would be...infinite number of objects. :D Thats how i imagined it. But maybe it would be handled in another way. Dont know tbh.
  18. Havent said it in a while, but thank you SB and team for delivering the updates to us as well as the ever improved SixUpdater. Your work makes me humble thanks to the fact im getting this great and massive project delivered to my PC for nothing. And the mod is ofcourse great. :) Thank you.

    Pre-Order Of Operation Arrowhead???

There is an OA group on steam already isnt it? Dwarden set it up maybe. Dont know if he knows more about if it comes or not. But ARMA2 is on steam and OA gets even better reviews so i cant see why it shouldnt.
  20. Where is it promised that the procedural terrain will have trees, bushes, stones and the rest? Or is it the procedural landscape as given in ARMA2? The clean one. Anyone have the text where BIS says this? Or any reviewer that has seen it? Might hog the performance even more also since there will be tons more objects - infinite terrain around the island itself... Or maybe its handled in a way that it doesnt take a toll before your actually there? No clue, but it sounds fun.
  21. ^^thats weird. I had the VON slider in-game. Reinstall the beta maybe?
  22. Tested it a bit on Win7 64 and it felt pretty good. No issues so far but i cant really compare since im on a brand new system now. Testing goes on, but feels good so far. Click sig for specs.
  23. ^^ Yeah, not gonna happen. Simple & fast movement FPS are everywhere though. However reviewers said IIRC that it is improved a bit clunkyness wise. Slightly better "flow", but this game is not about flowing like a head put on a stick moving on oily ground. :D
  24. Wonder whos distributing this to sweden? 505Games always did, but so close to release and not a word or mention on their site. Emailed them and no reply. I better ask the shop and see if they know anything. Highly doubt it though.
  25. Did BIS officially say this? I know for sure BIS said they will be in so in that case maybe it comes in a patch, but that would be said in that case.
