Yeah...dont worry about it. The only people who have bad performance with good rigs are morons, you can make arma2 run o.k. with a shit pc if you are a reasonably competent human. Ive run Arma2 on a P4 3.0GHz AGP system with 1gb of shit ram and a 7950GT without major dramas. -

You should try not to move the mouse beyond the limits of the window, im guessing that doing that would keep the mouse within the limits of the window. -

Anybody else having issues with the mipmap remover or am i just being dumb? I used the batch file to remove the highest mipmap from plants_e but when i load takistan i get Cannot open mipmap: ca\plants_e\Clutter\data\c_grassgreenlong_ca.paa -

THANK YOU T_D, Mikero and PVPscene. You really have made my day. I had a crack at doing this recently with the older tools but obviously failed, ive used it to quickly remove the first two lods from plants_e (batch file makes it so easy) and have a massive grin on my face as a result, the OA vegetation was way too heavy for my old GPU (8800GTS) so AA was a big nono. After removing the first two lods all now seems fine. I really cant thank you enough, its reduced my clutter a bit too too much i think but will spend some more time with the tools later today to get it just how i want. Honestly...I cant thank you enough. -

Ive read all your comments and am still buying the DLC. BIS could basically offer to send me a turd with cocktail umbrella stuck on the top and i'd STILL send them a tenner. We will be coming up to a decade of BIS wargames soon, the sum of all the money ive spent on every game/expansion they have released to date is far eclipsed by the ridiculously large number of hours of fun they have given me over the years. they deserve my cash more than any other dev team i can think of. -

I use contig http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897428.aspx Place in the arma 2 directory, right click>send to>desktop shortcut and add -s *.* to the target line (mines is in d:\bohemia interactive\arma2) E.G. "D:\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\Contig.exe" -s *.* run it every time you use new beta, update ace, add a new mod etc etc etc It Makes sure all the files in that folder are contiguous. Disclaimer: It may make you lol massively at the idiotic posts in the beta thread such as: "I INSTALLED THE BETA AND NOW HAVE MASSIVE DROP IN FPS" or: "I NOW HAVE INCREASED UNBEARABLE LOD ISSUES THAT DIDNT HAPPEN BEFORE I CHUCKED SOME SHITE IN MY ARMA2 FOLDER"

uninstall arma2, securom and cleanse registry, or if you are lazy format c: and reinstall O/S. EDIT: I wonder if that would even work, it should do but you may have told securom 'THIS CD-KEY ACTIVATES FROM DISC' not sure how it works. In That case buy another copy. -

My Arma2 directory has reduced in size significantly since i started reading this thread. Im taking names and deleting content appropriately. I've not even started the bitch in the last two weeks. Its started to feel a little dirty, vanilla conent FTW! You dont want to give = i do not want and can do without. This discussion is doing far more harm to the community than the imaginary rampant theft it suggests is happening ever has in my opinion. But, then again, i am a total stubborn bastard :) -
you are using a laptop to play a game that brings recent desktops to theyre knees. (when the game is paused the ai doesnt cleanse itself...its paused)

3 different options 8-bit 16-bit 32-bit The Option has been there since arma (just not in the front end). The difference between dark and light should be bigger with higher settings, some users report less issues with over saturation with 16 or 32, personally i see no difference, I suppose it depends on your GPU. 8-bit (normal) was default before this option. -

What do you think initially? I have doubts its possible, but my understanding of encryption is basic to say the least. The kinds of people who will steal your work are the kinds of people who are used to ripping the shit out of every game they come across anyway. I was'nt really meaning you in particular with the whole showcase thing, maybe you dont need it but im sure other modders do. I know if i was at all competent with model making i'd be trying to make a name for myself in some game or other hoping it would lead somewhere. Its probably the newcomers that hurt the most in that scenario. Its a knee jerk reaction to say no to encryption, human nature is to want something you cant have yet the more I think about it the more it makes sense. I agree that pbo's should always be openable to help foster the community but that the models themselves should be out of bounds. -

The simplest way to protect your work is to not release it, i see no reason to introduce encryption when an easy method is already at hand. I can see why its a touchy subject though and why you're so eager to be able to encrypt, you dont want people to steal your work yet not releasing isnt really a good option as it removes the platform from which you showcase your talents and gain your authority, tough choice. In the end this thread will probably go nowhere, both sides to the argument are valid. Its also worth considering if its even technically possible without being easily defeatable, any discussion about the matter should really have started there. -

That'll be SLX. AI place less value on ammunition, one of the best and simultaneously worst pieces of code in that mod. Depends on the situation, long range its terrible but close range its awesome.
