Yep....Agreed. Big no from me too. My own insignificance is one of the the things i hold dear, in arma2 its the driving force behind my mission design. I cannot think of another game (developer) that allows me that freedom. Fail post unfortunately.

Doesnt ace give launchers arcs? Just last night in I44 i was using a shrek 30 as a mortar (to good effect). Arma2 has a good ballistics model.

I have come to the conclusion that disabling AA is the only option for ARMA2. Its hard to do, even more so after recent patches as you lose atoc, but if you disable AA set render res to 133 or 150% and set PP to normal/high (if you can bear the blur) you can have arma2 looking nice with a more consistent frame rate. Feel free to put AF on high, the strain you lift off the GPU disabling AA will allow it.

Too true. Use contig if you dont want to defrag whole drive, every time i put something in the arma2 folder i run contig. Its easy to do: download contig http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897428 Place the exe in your arma2 folder, then right click on it choose send to > Desktop (create shortcut). Lets presume you have arma2 installed in the following directory C:\IMATOTALNOOBWHENITCOMESTOCOMPUTERSANDWOULDRATHERWASTEMYTIMEPOSTINGONFORUMSTHANMANUP_USESOMELOGIC_ANDSORTMYOWNPROBLEMSOUT\ArmA 2 You would right click on the new desktop shortcut and edit the target field so it reads C:\IMATOTALNOOBWHENITCOMESTOCOMPUTERSANDWOULDRATHERWASTEMYTIMEPOSTINGONFORUMSTHANMANUP_USESOMELOGIC_ANDSORTMYOWNPROBLEMSOUT\ArmA 2\Contig.exe" -s *.* Then double click it, make sure command prompt has administrative rights.

This pretty much sums up what it is, but its probably one of its strong points. Heres a list of military themed games i play fairly regularily in descending order: ARMA2 OFP RO/DH PR ARMA OGR/DS/IT GRAW2 SWAT4 Heres the list of military themed games i play when im drunk/feeling lazy: BF:BC2 Theres a huge fucking hole in my drunk/lazy repertoire, whilst BF:BC2 makes me rage at the spamfest i encounter i still play it because its marginally less irritating than COD. RR has filled the hole and offered a middle ground that i can feel comfortable playing, has some semblance of tactical play, and makes me giggle whenever "ballsdeep-motivating-hardcore-action" is mentioned. I think they did a good job, i hope they do well with it. CM have got far less money from me than BIS have over the years so im totally o.k. with that.

Agreed. The community needs drop the emotional connection with that name. BIS knew exactly what they were doing when they signed over the rights. Its likely we would not have played OFP or be playing ArmA 2 today if they had not, people have such short memories these days. ArmA as a brand does not need OFP as a crutch.

It all started with the Evolution mission in ARMA, i remember it well. I always saw Domination as a spin off of that mission and it only really took a foothold in ArmA2. The two missions as an example of mission building/scripting are fantastic, sadly i dont think KilJoy and Xeno knew at the time that they were going to slaughter MP for BIS. Public MP for the arma series will likely be saved by PR but untill then you need to find a squad to play with to dodge the 'tion shite.
