The first online reviews clearly show that claim was "marketing bullcrap". Hence my remark on the pointlessness of conjecture, particularly as a form of argument. All that really matters is that increased competition should lead to lower prices :) -

Radeon 4890 upgrade from 10.9 Cats to 12.2 Cats = disaster

I thought this experience with fellow Radeon 4890 owners: I've been running a Radeon 4890 with the 10.9 Catalyst drivers for the past 2 years without any serious issues. However this weekend, I had the bright idea to update my video drivers to the latest, 12.2 Catalyst. I rebooted and then ran OA to discover a nightmare of missing textures, white textures and/or flashing textures. So I conclude that if you're running Win7-64 and a Radeon 4890, stick with the 10.9 Catalyst drivers! -

Low performance too can surprise some users too so try these settings to keep the game looking good but running smoothly. -
I'd like a mission that makes very little mention of them (only VERY subtle hints). Then during a standard mission (e.g. search&destroy drug lab deep in the jungle) it would be good if a few clues could be found (worried parents, dead cows, missing guards, etc.) before encountering them. BTW did anyone every create a mission like this with Charon's Predator mod?

I did too until I discovered the Sensitivity parameter. Since lowering it from "Precision" (default setting) to "Normal", my TiR 5 is butter smooth

Here you should also find additional arms and munitions. 1 - Recon the flak battery and neutralise the threat 2 - Go to the abandoned mine, find the doors to the underground tunnels and demolish them using explosives. 3 - Neutralise the Flak 88 guns and secure the bunker area Briefing The Hazar Got area is under the control of the Wehrmacht. The presence of powerful AA batteries render an air attack too risky. Previous attempts proved unsuccessful and casualties were high. Aerial reconnaissance have drawn up a detail plan of the AA batteries. Intelligence from local resistance indicates that the AA batteries are powered by a generator hidden in nearby mining tunnels. High Command have therefore ordered an airborne raid by a group of commandos. Alpha, a squad of American Rangers, will command operations. Bravo, an SAS patrol, will scout ahead and provide demolitions expertise. Operations will begin at 04:00 local time. Should the situation deteriorate, you can call upon the support of the local resistance. Only squad leaders are equipped with a radio. Just one thing that wasn't too clear, what's the difference between the 1st and 3rd objectives? Is the first battery lighter AA? e.g. Flak 18? And the 3rd objective heavier Flak gun, e.g. Flak 36 or 37?

I would happy to contribute by offering my services as an Anglo-French translator. Maybe you could look at doing some missions using small (3-6 man) units such as the LRDG or the Jeburgh teams. My dream is a Resistance campaign set in the Vercors :rolleyes: I totally agree. I cannot understand why so many mission creators adopt respawn in their missions. Especially in a game with so much emphasis on realism...

I really like the look of that. Which mission was that? When and where do you play? I and a few from my clan might be interested in joining you What mods other than @CBA and @I44 do you require? e.g. ACRE? JTD? ASR AI? What mods do you allow? e.g. JSRS? WarFX?

Does "dedicated" that mean that you have only A2 on your SSD, i.e. nothing else? Or do you have Windows installed on your SSD as well?

Carrying heavy loads is possible, even over long distances. But running!? I'd say not more than a 100 yards.

As a subject of her Majesty and citizen of La 5eme République, though somewhat amusing, these nicknames soon cheapen to the point of being irritating or even hurtful. For me they're in the same category as minor discrimination. They betray a lack of imagination, international culture and mild xenophobia. Some say "water off a duck's back". You'll forgive me if, after 30+ years of hearing the same old quips, my back looses some of its impermeability.

You're right that VD is very dependant on your CPU's speed. Try decreasing Object Detail to High even Normal. Try also the noBlur mod, as well as CCleaner, defragging your HDD and Gamebooster. -

No doubt that View Distance is has significant impact on framerates but so does AA, Post-Processing and AToC. If VS is paramount to you, have you tried lowering AA, PP and/or disabling AToC? Also try increasing the Shadows to High or Very. OA does indeed require some thought when it comes to configuration. Also the in-built campaign is known as a performance-killer so it is rather optimistic to expect to run an 8K VD smoothly. Even a 5k VD at smooth framerates is tricky. -
I'd guess it was your machine because OA runs fine for most of us. Does "patch" mean 1.60 or a beta patch?
