ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
domokun replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I'd be fairly wary of advice about Arma outside of these forums, particularly advice that suggests deleting dlls. Have you really tried ALL the advice outlined in that post? Including the housekeeping of your PC? Have you tried the latest beta patch? Personally it sounds like something is badly run with either your PC or your install. Are you low on disk space? -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
domokun replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Stierlitz: welcome to the forums. I'm surprised that you're experiencing such issues. I have a very similar system (E8400@3.8+7850) and it runs great. In fact it ran great even when I had just a E8400@3.8+4890. What made you delete those dlls ? I think that you're better of trying these tweaks: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 -
Hi I tried playing this but I encountered an error message saying "You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.mbg_creationism". I realise now that the mbg_creationism.pbo is part of the COWarMod. The problem is that pbo is 44 B. So is there anyway to edit the mission to remove this dependency? i.e. is mbg_creationism.pbo critical to the mission? or just a nice extra?

How long are the AI suppressed? Is there a parameter in the userconfig? Because last night I gave it a quick spin Zipper5's Blood on the Sand campaign and the AI seemed stuck in suppressed mode?
-
Thanks for the feedback about the userconfig
-
Sorry if this is a dumb question but do I need to run bDetect for the AI suppression mod to work?
-
I'm well impressed. Can't wait to get back to some i44. Keep up the stirling work chaps!

Unless you've personally tested something, I'd avoid doling out advice. Have you seen the changelog for the betas since the 1.60 patch? Only yesterday, someone from my clan encountered an error which was corrected by the use of a beta patch. Moreover, reporting bugs, while admirable, is not a pre-requisite to using a beta.

Weclome to the community! You've come to the right place. 1. Install the latest beta patch. Don't be scared by the label, they're a significant improvement on the official patch not only in terms of features and performance but even stability. Moreover it won't mess with your official patch as it install in parallel 2. Optimise the game correctly (as described here) to get it running smoothly and looking good. 3. Enjoy the game as it is (vanilla) 4. When you get frustrated with the game's limitations (hours? days? weeks? months?), install Six Updater and start trying mods to "correct" those bits of the game that you think need improving, e.g. ASR AI for better AI, JSRS mod for better audio, etc. 5. If that sounds like too much work and/or you want to jump in at the deep end, you could try installing a TC (Total Conversion) mod that affects just about every aspect of the game, e.g. COWarMod or ACE2 6. If and when you want to play online I strongly recommend using an alternative application for voice comms such as TeamSpeak. When you're ready to take it to the next level, consider the ACRE mod Hope that helps!

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
domokun replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
That's great advice - for £90 you can't do better than a R6950. See for yourself how it compares to other cards in Op Arrowhead: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2012/06/13/nvidia-geforce-gtx-690-4gb-review/4 -
And I'd add that, given the almost-perpetual state of beta (last official patch was 6 months ago, whereas since then BI have continued to release scores of patches), Arma also needs to introduce an in-built system for updating betas, e.g. optional auto-update. The current system, though smart (installed parallel to the official patch) and not too difficult, is too cumbersome for most users. Which is a dreadful shame given the substantial improvements offered by the beta patches in terms of stability, performance and features...

Jungle Wars: Island of Lingor
domokun replied to icebreakr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Icebreaker: thanks SO much for your island. Last night we played a coop campaign for the first time on this island and it was AMAZING. It seriously felt like professional product. From the new vegetation, to the sound effects, to the colonial style wallpaper in the drug lord's mansion, to the realistic size and layout of villages, we were blown away. Several times during our missions I was so impressed by the beauty and drama of the landscape that I wanted to take a screenshot or two! Later this week, I'll definitely be making a little contribution via PayPal (first time ever for a modder). I really hope that you're enjoying summer! -
co5@ Lingor =RTY= BAF Commandos
domokun replied to shark-attack's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Does anyone know if this mission is compatible with the latest version of Lingor (v1.4) and Lingor Units (v1.3) that were re-released 2 months ago? Also have there been any updates to this mission? And/or more BAF vs narco missions on Lingor? -
The game slow down while i look at vegetation
domokun replied to Inexorable's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
@Inexorable: good advice so far from the community (change AToC from 7 to 0 and disable AA). If you want to improve your visuals, try changing PPAA=0 to PPAA=3. You'll find these tweaks and more in this post: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 Try them and I'm certain your game will run more smoothly and look better. Above all, let us know how you get on! -

ATI Cards and Postprocessing Effects
domokun replied to andreamit's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Guys, try the tweaks listed in the post (in particular the AToC=0 & disabling AA & using PPAA instead) http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 And let us know how you get on. -
Zooming in on foliage = bad FPS

NeuroFunker: tried setting AToC=0 It is one of many tweaks listed in this post: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
domokun replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Totally. If you want to enjoy the game at it's most: replace Intel Core i7 3930K by i5-3570K replace Asus Rampage Extreme MegaDeath UberL33t bullsh1t with a mid-range z77 (€150) replace EVGA GeForce GTX 690 with AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB (€260) But with the hundreds that you've just saved, add: SSD: OCZ Vertex 4 256GB (€250) TrackIR 5 plus TrackClip PRO (€150) Headphones with mic: Test : Sennheiser PC 350 (€150) -
I quite agree that Arma's relative unpopularity lies with its inaccessibility. One of it's biggest hurdles is the management of mods. Arma would become much more accessible if mods were better integrated, e.g. activation and deactivation within the game (without having to restart the game), download and update of mods from centralised server (Ã la Six Updater)

Playing Arma 2 CO on a MacBook Pro 2011 - And liking it!

RoME: try these proven tweaks: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 Although they are not Mac-specific, most of the tweaks can be applied. Let us know how you get on -
Ghost Recon - Island Thunder campaign
domokun replied to lightspeed_aust's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
@Lighty: really looking forward to the refresh of your COOP version of GR: Island Thunder, particularly on the new version of Lingor! UPDATE: last night we played our first COOP campaign on Lingor. It was awesome! The island is just begging for more missions. However we really felt like we barely scratched the surface. So we can't wait to try out your new version of GR: IT. Any luck with your upgrades? -
T'es gentil but I'd like to see the London pub where you can get a pint for £2 these days :(

Best way to shift install onto another drive?
domokun posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I just bought myself an SSD and was wondering what would be the quickest way to migrate my A2/OA/BAF/PMC install from my HDD onto my SSD. Any ideas? -
ArmA2 / OA (low) performance issues
domokun replied to R3fl3x's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Can I suggest to try the following changes: Texture: High => Normal Vid Memory: High => Very High or Default 3D res: 960x720 => 1152x864 (always try to run Interface & 3D res at your monitor's native resolution) If you want to be sure that a setting has a beneficial effect, benchmark your machine using the game's built-in benchmarks. The E08 benchmark is prolly the best one, failing that use E01 but avoid E02. Personally I think that your machine is the bare minimum. I think that you're lucky OA runs at all. Your video card and CPU seem particularly weak. @Malzie: welcome to the community. While your rig is good, I seriously doubt that you'll get good framerates (>30fps) by pushing all the settings to max. Especially in situations where there are a lot of AI (certain missions field 100+ AI). Reducing a few key settings and the game will still look good but play a lot smoother: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 Your CPU and GPU look fairly weak so, short of upgrading them, try these tweaks: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?85124-ArmA2-OA-%28low%29-performance-issues&p=2081466#post2081466 -
MV22 Door Gunner Project

Does this mod auto-initialise? i.e. once it's running on servers and clients, are all MV22 present in a missions replaced with these fines beauties?
