Like many I like the new system but find the upwards recoil a tad overdone (-25%). I really hope that this new version isn't limited to OA, i.e. A2 still gets some recoil love. @MadMike: given that this feature significantly degrades a crucial element of the game (shooting), I have to side with Alex72's point of view, i.e. optional but linked into difficulty settings. In fact in MP games, rather like grass, I think the server should define this. -

I'd be gutted if ACE abandoned A2. We never faced this problem in OFP nor A1, despite the release of several expansion packs. However I'm also aware that developing 2 builds in parallel sounds like a recipe for headaches. So I'm all for modularising. -
I agree with Meek. This great addon isn't limited to radios so why limit the title so? I like ACRE and I like Advanced Communication and Radio Environment

That's truly awful news. I'm gutted to hear that. A2 is important to all of us but ultimately it pales into insignificance compared with RL matters. I'll cetainly have a thought for him and his family throughout today. May tomorrow bear better tidings.

MegaGoth: good advice from Shadow D. You'll find even more detail in this thread. For example I strongly recommend that you move your CBA to the start of your mod line as that way it'll initialise before all other mods (more and more mods require it these days).

SLX was recently updated and judging by the community's glowing response it seems to have reached maturity. So what are the tweaks, if any, to get it to work with the legendary Zeus+GL4 combo? -

Kristof: try these tweaks and, if you're confident, try overclocking your CPU: start gently, i.e. no more than +2% (+5 FSB) each time. -
mpatton: your description of your PC makes no mention of whether your motherboard has a 939 or AM2 socket. If it is a 939 then I'm afraid there isn't much more you can do to increase your CPU other than try overclocking it. It that case I'd go for the 5830 I mentioned. Personally I think that i7 CPUs although nice a rather overpriced. The whole setup (CPU, mobo RAM) will set you back MUCH more than $250. Have you already tried those tweaks and/or overclocking your system?

Nemesis: first off, make sure your machine is optimised. Next up try overclocking both your CPU and then your GPU. If you don't know what you're doing only seek help from people you trust (no sudden experts or else your PC will hate you for it). Together the tweaks and overclocking might just offer enough increases for you have half decent (25+) framerates. If you can't be bothered/don't now how or still feel unsatisfied then your only chance is to upgrade your hardware... Despite your "low" resolution your rig is pretty underpowered in 2 key regions: CPU and video card. Of these 2, the CPU is the most important factor but your motherboard's AM2 socket limits your (the latest CPUs from AMD require AM3). The good news is that you can fit AM2+ CPUs into an AM2 motherboard. Consequently I'd say you have 2 options: #1 upgrade CPU & upgrade Video Card Phenom II X4 940 BE for $117 Radeon 5770, starting from $130 with rebate (ASUS CuCore looks nice) #2 upgrade to a powerful video card Radeon 5830, starting from for $200 And then replace your CPU, motherboard & RAM later (considerable investment requiring at least $300)

Is anyone encountering problems with the wounding system? I'm not sure why but whenever my buddies and I play this map in coop we become practically immune to enemy fire. Obvious this "cheat" pretty much ruins this otherwise excellent mission. Any ideas on how to solve this? -

Wolfrug: I think I know what you are suffering from. So to control the saturation of the HDR try using GTD's HDR mod. It's small, simple to use (accesible via the action menu) and has no impact on performance (AFAIK). The only drawback is that it requries CBA. Hope that helps. Sakura's light fix also goes some way to making A2's lighting a little more subtle. -

For sure! I'm no meterologist but this mod really interests my squad and I. Weather has such an important impact on warfare. It's a shame it's so overlooked because visibility (or lack of it) not only impacts infantry but even air forces, wind influences ballistics, rain mutes sound (stealth), etc. So anything we can do to help you get this out of the door? -

Oldy41: almost none, 5-10% at a guess. You're much better off going for a very fast dual core (4GHz) than a fast quad (3.2 GHz). Nice gfx card btw. This is because A2 is wasn't designed from the ground up with multi-core support in mind. Before people criticise, please be in mind that this type of design is extremely hard to achieve. Very few engines really manage this. I'm not trying to excuse BIS, just explain the context. Like most sims, A2 is (and prolly will always be) CPU limited. Here's a half-decent test that illustrates this.
