Same issue (low quality textures and UI flicker) present on Windows 8 Release Preview with 8GB ram, Radeon 7850 and Intel C2Q 9505 -
BETA Demo Prior To release, for BUG testing (for Pre-orders/selected members only).
dotted replied to teaboy's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
It was mostly related to OP wanting beta access for pre-orders. Which i find entirely silly (unless we talk glorified demos, renamed betas that so many companies seem to do nowadays.) -

I never understood why limiting the amount of beta testers was a good idea. -
OpenGL isn't "faster" it's just an API. As for tesselation, it has been available for a lot longer than that (today it has been removed) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TruForm

Windows version uses Havok, not PhysX. Also why limit yourself to 8 cores when you have 300+ on the GPU?
-
No thanks, OpenCL or DirectCompute would be a way better option than CUDA
-
OFP and ARMA(2) already does this Doubt it this is PhysX
-
I think the main thing is that Bullet GPU support isn't as mature as PhysX is.

I guess you misunderstood, 2.xx has hardware acceleration.
-
Bullet isn't AMD as PhysX is nVidia, but they did hire they guy which was my point. And Bullet already has hardware acceleration, so your statement isn't true.

They aren't entirely all talk: http://bulletphysics.org

ArmA2 1.05 Impressions - ALL Impressions/Videos/Screenies Here
dotted replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
One of the reasons i bought it on steam was not having to deal with patches. And i must say i find it surprising if patches cant be released as binary diffs on Steam. -
You are kidding right? Analytics Has nothing to do with AdSense. Read up instead of doing uninformed decisions. The only one you are hurting is not Google but BIS in this case. Funny your nick is quite fitting.
-
No it doesn't. 1 illegal copy does not mean a lost sale, and particular in this case i think there is alot of try before buying going on. The german version is out, so people download it try it, perhaps find it good and decide to preorder the english version. On the other hand, FADE might destroy that possibility because people will think that the FADE symptoms are bugs. If they were never lost, wouldn't that be an over all gain as the game generates publicity? Well people think the "FADEs" are bugs in the game, rather than issues coming from a pirated game - then the game is gonna get bad publicity. No DRM have helped generating sales, only good games. I pirated ArmA 2 aswell, so sue me. But i pre-ordered on Steam, and payed overprice in fact, so my conscience is clear - heck I'm beginning to think that I'm entitled due to the €20 overpricing. I'm not gonna wait til the 30th of June for ArmA 2 to be released on Steam, when i can play now. Either way BIS gets their money, It's their own damn fault anyway for doing these awkward releases anyway.

What does ARMA 2 have that Operation Flashpoint 2 doesn't?
dotted replied to bloodbomb's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Because BIS already knows what the content of said topic will be "DEATH TO INFIDELS AT CODEMASTERS, BURN OFP:DR, THE GAME IS BLASPHEMY", etc etc :D, along with a few OFP:DR trolls and some moderate posts like the ones i made myself. BIS have nothing to loose on keeping the topic open. -

Ah Mr. Nit Picker, don't nit pick you can be picked yourself! There is no such thing as Armed Assault II. But other than that, you know you say BIS has a track record of responding to player concerns, well hello there over sensitive HDR, and welcome to forced motion-blur too. You'd have thought they would atleast give us the option to turn the damn thing off in ArmA 2, but nooo. And feel free to check my join date, just in case your under the delusion that i dont understand arma, i've been here for 5 years and started playing OFP when Red Hammer was out, pre-ordered ArmA back in the day and have pre-ordered ArmA 2, srsly what troll or OFP2 fanboy would do this? No you guys have been brain washed to such a state that you simply cant grasp the idea of potential cometition, and try to dismiss everything by calling on every single negative point that may be said about a game but neglecting the fact that much of the same is presnt in their own game of choice. -

If anything im the guy that try's to make the ArmA community a little less contradicting. Because a lot of the complaints i have seen is about stuff that ArmA 2 has aswell. So good game. -

dotted replied to bloodbomb's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
ArmA 2 has arcade mode aswell, on lowest difficulty you have several assists one of them is lighting up every single NPC or Vehicle in-game, green for friend, red for foe. But let me guess, that doesn't count? -

Doesn't seem like Battlefield after all. -

How does not being pre-judgemental make you new to the tubes? But fact is still, you don't know what OFP:DR is gonna be like. Deadfast: You have a point, but isn't the same thing more or less possible in ArmA aswell? I mean you can break a leg or whatever, in ArmA, and if there is a medic nearby he can patch up back to normal in a few seconds. Both equally unrealistic. -

And baseless arguments is not? I'm a BIS fan, but unlike you im not a CM hater. Thats the same as saying "I'm positive your mother is fat", sure it may be the case but in reality you do not know. And how exactly does this answer help the OP? It doesn't, the only thing it may end up doing is making a decision that he may or may not regret. Because no matter what, nobody knows what game will come out as better until both games have been released. And to give BIS a fair change, when both games have been patched up. We all, despite how much we love BIS know how bugfree their game tends to be at release. -

Can someone put to a source that actually shows OFP2 being Battlefield-like or is just random stupidity by stupid ArmA fanbois? Show me a video of a guy taking 3 shots in the chest and still standing, do that or stfu please. -
