we had similar filters on the T55's on the chinook. reduced power by about 20% but damn they saved the engines

understand that CE's fly a fair amount but the ATM does state that required crew is 2 pilots. Not like yall do shit back there anyways:D

ATM states that required crew is 2 pilots. No crew chiefs are required unless the task they are performing is listed as requiring them in the ATM. Unit SOP can also dictate this. Door guns are primarily only installed for combat operations or aerial gunnery training. Same goes for the actual gun mounts. Anyone who has ever put an m240 into one of those damn mounts can agree with me that doing it every time you fly for a few months gets old as hell. That being said, I'm just here for the Chinooks mane:D

I know you guys are far away from it, but if you need a consultant for the 47 side of things hit me up.

That's probably true. I'm only knowledgeable on 47's and for some reason I doubt the 60's have enough comfortable room for the big cans

With the new M24 gun mounts we rock 400rnd cans

Chinook crew chief here. We always lean out of the right fwd door of the bird when landing on unimproved surfaces. We call the pilots altitude from 100ft to contact and clear the rotor system and aircraft of obstructions.

Oh random food for thought on the 47's. There are actually different armor configurations you can have for it. Known as the BAPS (ballistic armor protection system). You have two main configurations. Either the entire floor of the bird can be armored (from the ramp to the nose for the most part) or you can have crew stations with armor underneath and in the left gun and cabin door positions there is slight armor on the lower half (mostly shin armor kind of useless). So basically where your ramp gunner, cargo hole lay down, left gun, cabin door, and left and right pilot seat positions are there are ballistic plates rated for 7.62 (unless you're an aussie and you have armor rated for .50) covering your ass underneath you.

The MH-47G uses 714's. It's the same engine as the D and F model still in use are using. We have them on our F models. Really the MH47 only has a few differences. You'll see custom (sort of) modifications that a birds FE will do to it such as seat mounts for example. The MH's have larger fuel tanks, FLIR Pods, more stuff for radios and SATCOM, the refuel boom for aerial refueling, rescue hoist, mostly mission equipment stuff. Mechanically all current Chinooks are exactly the same (hydraulics, engines, landing gear, rotor system). The biggest differences are in the avionics, fuel, and mission equipment.

There are seatbelts on a chinook for 33 in the back. However, we're only restricted by what we can secure, and weight. So if we can secure guys to the aircraft, and we have a gross weight of less than 50,000 lbs (depending on tab data/PA/power and TQ limitations) we can carry. If it fits we ships. US Army Hooker here

I have seen 60's remove doors that were performing water bucket or rescue hoist missions in the national guard. not a lot of experience working around active component guys just the NG

Will you release the Aircraft in singular packs or are you going to wait until they are all done to release them?
