Toasticuss 10 Posted July 20, 2010 http://canyouseeme.org/ Test your ports, see if they come back open. I have a router where I will forward the ports fine in the PHP GUI but in fact they never open.
Sascha Henken 10 Posted August 8, 2010 Hi all, i´m new to this community and ArmA2OA. I´m having the exact same problem and i´m sure it is NOT a port forwarding problem because of the following reason: As a client you do not need to open ports in order to join a particular server. You do need to open up ports if you want to host your own session. My problem is that I cannot join any server. If I try to join a server, I get the player list, choose a position I want to play and click OK. Then it downloads the map required to play. Once the map is downloaded the message "Receiving Data" is displayed and nothing else happens. I´ve put my PC in the DMZ. I´ve opened up all ports but still nothing. I´m a Steam User. A friend of mine also has the Steam Version and for some reason he has absolutely no problem to join any server and he did not open up any ports. He told me that I get permanently a Signature Check timeout. That´s curious and strange. It mostly indicates that either the Router is faulty or the DSL/Cable line might have some Packet Loss. Either way i´m not having any problems joining other sessions with other games besides of ArmA2. I´ve talked with my ISP and he double checked my DSL Line which is just fine. I told them to turn off Fastpath so I get Packet Correction enabled. Even that doesn´t help me to join a server. Another sighting: Maps that only are about 500KB in size are mostly no problem for me join. But as soon as a map is greater than 1MB I seem to get this problem. Does anybody have a hint or solution for me? I´m really frustrated as I am not able to play this game online but only offline. Thank you!
Dead3yez 0 Posted August 8, 2010 Try ALT-Tabbing and disabling Steamingame @ OP
Sascha Henken 10 Posted August 9, 2010 Try ALT-Tabbing and disabling Steamingame @ OP What exactly do you mean with disabling? When Arma2OW is launched I cannot shutdown Steam. However I have to add another strange thing: There is 1 server where I can join without any problem that is Charlie Foxtrot. It seems to have a map with 250KB in size and there is absolutely no problem to join that one. All others are a no go.

Sascha Henken 10 Posted August 11, 2010 I did that already. No go. I thought about that my IP is probably blacklisted but i´ve checked it against hundrets of RBLs and it´s fine. Well whatever i´ve given up playing this game in multiplayer as it is a joke that I am not able to join any given server except 1 server that is Charlie Foxtrot. Sad also there are no logfiles available to what is happening when i stumble into the Signature Timeout Problems that prevents me joining servers. However hosting from my side is no problem. Sascha Henken 10 Posted August 11, 2010 Why don't you look into the matter of it being your firewalls and hardware? Because i´ve went through all this already? I tried everything with opening the required ports TCP/UDP etc. I tried DMZ too but it keeps locking me out of servers saying "Signature Check timed out". I have no addons installed and my installation is genuine in its original state!

Sascha Henken 10 Posted August 11, 2010 I do not have any software firewalls and the Windows FW is disabled entirely. My Router has its actual firmware and i´ve resetted it several times now. It does not help. Strange though I can join COOP sessions that are the original ones from the game. As soon as I try to join a particular server with a custom map it doesn´t work. I also check that the server I want to join does not use any addons to make sure i´m not running into a compatibility issue.

MJK-Ranger 0 Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) Sascha Henken Which router and model do you have? Also try: - Enable/disable UPnP in your router. - Enable/disable ICMP Edited August 11, 2010 by MJK-Ranger
Sascha Henken 10 Posted August 12, 2010 Sascha HenkenWhich router and model do you have? Also try: - Enable/disable UPnP in your router. - Enable/disable ICMP ICMP is enabled UPNP is enabled I have the AVM Fritz!Box 7270 with its newest firmware dated from December 2009. I´ve tried DMZ which is a disabled Firewall and forwards all ports to the designated IP-Address of the internal network which is my PC. My Windows 7 Firewall is disabled. However i´ve tried it this way: DMZ on Router (which disables the hardware firewall) and enabled the Windows 7 Firewall as it normally prompts you if a software wants to communicate with the internet but nothing happens. In the exclusion list of firewall rules is Steam as well as ARMA2 already listed to let the software communicate externally and internally. Even though i´ve tried to connect to a multiplayer server, there was nothing recorded in logfiles etc. Is there a way how I can turn on a trace log from ARMA2 directly so I can do a bit more troubleshooting? The downside of my Fritzbox is that it doesn´t have a suitable logfile ready to troubleshoot the communication.
