EasyC 10 Posted February 20, 2011 Hey,easyC Could you go check out the 1st PMC mission and do the same thing(pan left and right) and see if in the mission you get any bad Stutter(especially as you progress through the mission with all the explosions, etc)? Maybe run a video of the 08 benchmark for us if you have the time? I am very curious how others results are with that 08 benchmark and the PMC 1st mission. Thanks I haven't bought PMC yet, so can't try sorry. Ran the 08 Benchmark....no jerkyness/stutter as my FPS never got close to low 30s which seems to cause it. Sounds like you have something else going on. ^ This is perfect and an exact replica of my problem, with a nice Demo video, I might add. This is the kind of stutter that originally made me make this thread. As you have seen, the weird thing is that your FPS are at 30 yet the game stutters like your FPS are in the teens. You can also see that if there are enough AI, even full mouse smoothing doesn't cure this anomaly any more.I would love to know Suma's thoughts on why this happens. It makes the game feel like it is performing far worse than it actually is, hence lots of performance complaints on these forums. Question is: Why, with no mouse smoothing and an FPS of thirty, do lots of AI make the game stutter like it was running in the teens? And why does it get to a point where mouse smoothing no longer works. Hi seany Glad I managed to help you out a bit, hopefully we can get some help.
.kju 3245 Posted February 20, 2011 @ EasyC A junction does not magically move files to another HDD from what I can tell. You need to physically move the game. Even better would be a RAM drive. --- Maybe you guys want to try this: PvPscene Benchmark Suite
EasyC 10 Posted February 20, 2011 @ EasyCA junction does not magically move files to another HDD from what I can tell. You need to physically move the game. Even better would be a RAM drive. Maybe I incorrectly explained it. Here is what I meant... Both arma 2 and arma 2 operation arrowhead folders have an equal physical size, from that I'm assuming it's correct. .kju 3245 Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) You see this as the junctions make the HDD/OS "believe this" to make it work. I am using junctions myself for a long time. If you think about it technically and check what it does, a junction does not make the files exist on another HDD. Therefore there is no speed benefit making the OS believe the files are on a faster HDD. If you want it to be so, you have to actually do it (copy/move the files to the SSD). EasyC 10 Posted February 20, 2011 I'm pretty sure that's what steam mover did....it copied the files to my SSD and created junction points on the HDD, as the pic in my previous post shows.
.kju 3245 Posted February 20, 2011 Ok sorry got it wrong. If the files are actually on the SSD, then its alright ofc. :)
cotabucky 10 Posted February 20, 2011 ^ your problem sounds more like a HardDisk induced kind of stutter, if your getting big pauses. Brand new WD carvair black drive,Now a brand new SSD drive with same exact results. The stutter you have I would expect in an extremely taxing environment with lots of AI and plains flying around etc. The stutter I have makes the game unplayable. In the 08 benchmark it will go smooth then stop(jolt) and go .Like you said it seems like a hardrive issue but its not.Now I have a brand new Motherboard and CPU and its doing the same. Its nice to know the original poster of this thread had his questions answered though.I will have my questions answered come Monday :) (new memory and GTX580)
EasyC 10 Posted February 22, 2011 Hi guys, Made another vid whilst playing Warfare last night. Was getting 27-29fps.....as you can see at the start facing the house it doesn't seem jerky, then becomes slightly jerky before I turn around. After turning again and facing the house once more it becomes jerky for awhile and almost smooths out right at the end. fa15b0QXjpM
EasyC 10 Posted February 26, 2011 Any interest in this? Suppose the devs are busy with the coming patch.
Leon86 13 Posted February 26, 2011 I have some stutters when running at low settings to get high fps. Doesn't make the game unplayable, stutters are pretty short, still annoying. Maybe they're prestent at my current settings as well but fps is too low to notice :). I now run on mostly normal and have the max pre-rendered frames on 0, so I have no mouse/aimlag. millerhighlife 1 Posted February 27, 2011 I have some input on this, I was using a usb logitech mouse and I dont have a mouse pad and was ahving a hard time finding something reflective enough for it. I also have a wireless Ihome mouse that doesnt need as much refelction to work. So I switched to it for a couple days. First thing I noticed was how frustrating it was all of a sudden to move and look and aim. The mouse was jerky and too fast no matter what settings I adjusted in game or in windows. so anyone using a wireless mouse or has a spear mouse. Try out the other mouse and see what happens. My original works much better.

One thing I know for a fact when editing is some placement of squads and objects, etc can have an extreme effect on the game engine if there is collision issues ,etc. I have often made placements on my map and found the game performance go all to hell at some point. I figured it was me placing to many objects but what it realy was is the game engine having problems with my placement or AI issues with there surroundings(my theory). If I move some placements just a hair lots of times my choppiness is gone. That stuttering in video looks somewhat normal to me in some places in game.
