nuggetz 0 Posted July 13, 2010 Is there a way to adjust the FOV in first person view to be a bit narrower? I wonder what the experience would be like if I could set my default FOV to look like it does when you hold your right mouse button when zooming in. Not all the way, maybe somewhere around the half-way point. I think that would be a lot more realistic. In driving sims, I tend to adjust my FOV so I dont get the tunnel vision effect. I know it reduces the sense of speed but once you get used to it, its a lot better. I wondered about the FOV in Arma. If you zoom in with the right mouse button, you can actually see things in the distance a bit better and I think that would be the equivalent to how our eyes would really function in real life. With the default FOV, far away lands look like they're 100 miles away yet it doesn't take you that long to walk there. I think a FOV adjustment would help with this as well. I think with a narrower FOV, things in the distance would appear more accurate and where one would expect them to be in terms of actual distance. Can the FOV be set somewhere? Windexglow 10 Posted July 13, 2010 There was a really great topic on this a while back, I'll see if I can't find it. I'll edit with results. EDIT: That was easier than I thought. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=100235&highlight=fov
frederf 0 Posted July 13, 2010 You can double-tap Num_+ to get the zoomed in view "hands off."
Beagle 684 Posted July 13, 2010 Keep in mind that we cant recreate a natural FOV even on 28" monitors which are ways above the average Joes TFT size. If you want a better solution get a projector.
frederf 0 Posted July 13, 2010 He wants a narrow FOV actually if you read post #1. Personally the lack of 20/20 levels or angular resolution is alright (to me) because the world lacks a lot of the detail and concealment that would normally foil spotting with better seeing. The effects sort of cancel out. I'm easily spotting camouflaged soldiers walking through medium terrain at 400m+ in this game and would have a hard time doing that right away in real life. Windexglow 10 Posted July 13, 2010 ^Set 3dresolution to 133% or more. This actually works better than AA and stops soldiers at long range being easily see able. If I look hard enough I can see them, but they blend much better into the environment.
