Niotna 10 Posted July 11, 2010 I played the COD series for a long time. I don't know how server adminds did it, but when you wanted to join certain servers, where a certain mod was running, and you didn't have it, one way or another, there was a choice where you could choose to install that mod and/or map, and you could just join after the download of it. So I think they had a link system with a server where the MOD/MAP was available for download, and it was installed. Something like the six updater system that is used for the ACE MOD. I suggest ARMA implements this. Also a good idea for people creating ARMA launcher programs. (BTW, why does the game itself has no detailed game launcher system, like certain ARMA launcher programs have? I find this weird.)
11aTony 0 Posted July 11, 2010 Currently the game has to be restarted in order for mod or addon to work. So auto dl & install wont do much good. If you wouldnt need to restart the game it would be already in. To be honest, that thing in game is not much of a use. I rather use -mod=.
paplate 10 Posted July 12, 2010 This is DEFINITELY what BIS needs to implement in order for multiplayer to work. The problem right now is that almost every server runs hundreds of addons, and even if you have these addons, unless you actually launch them with the game, you won't be able to play. It could work by having the play click on the server, if the mods aren't running, the game will restart with the appropriate mods and connect to the server. terox 316 Posted July 14, 2010 A discussion on this topic occured earlier. Maruk is aware of the issue and is looking to implement a system to deal with the issue See this thread http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=100951
=wfl= sgt bilko 10 Posted July 18, 2010 If it's ever implemented make sure to add the option of redirecting the dl to another server.
