New plane model

Here´s a plane I modeled that I've been in love with for a long time, and is perfect for these islands. It´s made in Switzerland and is operated by many armies around the world.

Isn't that a brute of a plane? It's by far the most rugged bush operation plane you'll come across and can be fitted with skiis and floats very easily, plus it´s huge wheels make it able to land on inclines, and rough terrain.

And one picture of the real thing and a glimpse of the texture that would suit OFP:

Polygons, about 1100 - 1200 at the most. Target polys around 950.

From a military site overviewing the Porter:

The PC-6 is a single-engined multipurpose utility aircraft with STOL characteristics, permitting operation from unprepared strips under harsh environmental and terrain conditions. It can be converted rapidly from a freighter to a passenger transport and adapted for a great number of missions, including supply dropping, search and rescue, ambulance, aerial survey and photography, parachuting, crop spraying, water bombing, rainmaking and glider or target towing. The PC-6 can operate from soft ground, snow, glacier or water.

The first piston-engined prototype made its first flight 4 May 1959. The B2 can be fitted with an air inlet filter for operation in desert conditions and for agricultural applications. A total of more than 520 PC-6 aircraft has been built.

Required runway: Takeoff: 110 meters. Landing 73 meters.

It can carry up to 10 people, but usually carries 8 parachuters.

Would you call an a-10 or a f-117 good looking airplanes?

Actually the A10 is pretty attractive in my opinion.  Nothing looks cooler than an A10 flying in for the kill.  It looks outdated when compared to other planes but it preforms quite well.

Ya how about some russian stuff? I read in another post about someone wanting a UAZ with a machine gun on the back to acompany the western equivelent. Not a bad idea. Could make a cool multiplayer deathmatch game. I can see it now.

I can tell you for a fact that this plane has been baned for use in the U.S.A.

But this plane was used by the american's for operation Air America in Vetinam which was C.I.A. run.

...even so the point I was getting at is that there is no reason for it not to be in US armed forces during 1985. It was incidently used by the Americans...US Army designation is UV-20A Chiricahua used as a utility STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) aircraft, and I can tell you that today they are in service with the Austrian Air Force, the Swiss Air Force, the Para Dubai Air Force, the Slovenian Air Force, the Royal Thai Border Police and the Royal Thai Air Force, the Algerian Air Force, and until very recently was in the Israel Air Force.

You must understand that this is not a combat aircraft, but an obeservation plane, a parachute platform and a fixed wing training craft. Just because it doesn't fly at twice the speed of sound and drop daisy cutters, doesn't mean it should become obsolete in the worlds armed forces. It has uses other than blowing stuff up.

I would like an OV-10 better, though. And yes, we need more russian addons. I would love to see a scoped ak, or the new an-94 abakan, and some new helicopters.

I think we could use a fast-attack soviet helicopter. The hind is just so damn big. Its not meneuverable enough for air to air combat. The KA52 or the Mi-28 might be cool even though they are after the time period in the game.

Yep, we currently have the g-36 in game and that gun wasn't designed until the late 90's, so why not include state of the art vehicles?

Russias version of the US AH-64.Its more heavyer then the AH-64 and more armour then the AH-64 but the AH-64 is more advanced.It would be cool to have the Havoc.So that both sides are even.

Jubs: Right on track with the tools m8, so this is one plane that should one day take to the hazy skies of OFP.

I was thinking of making a heli for my next model. I have an option to make the Dauphin, Puma or Jet Ranger. Any takers?

I could make that russian one, but I feel certain that someone already is, so I kinda like taking on the ones that get left on the bench I was also thinking of making the Twin Otter next.

Yankees have ah-1, ah-64, oh-58, uh-60 (2 of 'em), and ch-47. Ruskies have mi-17 and mi-24. C'mon! BIS should release more russian choppers in an official addon! Yankees have 3 scoped assault rifles (g-36, steyr aug and xms) + loads of 'em on unofficial addons, and the russians have none official, and i've never seen one on unofficial addons. Somebody make an ak-74 with 4x sight! or an an-94 abakan!

A Mi-28 Havoc would probably be more realistic. The Ka-52 is a crazy design.
