the revolt

The Revolt (for lack of a better name). The people have revolted (also fits in with the revolt over CLR itself) and refuse to farm resource gather or anything related to CLR missions.

Seeing how this community is 100% against anything having to do with editing , porting or otherwise mucking with the CLR scripts or the work of others (rightly so) and after NOT being able to obtain permission from the original author of SL I decided to build a new version of a RPG for arma2 and OA.

I am about 85 % complete with %100 of the mission and scripts built from the ground up (my own work). The mission does depend a few public released add ons .

Storyline

There are three main roles in this mod

Mafia

The Mafia has taken over the main city and provides protection contracts to all the item shops , car shops factory's and Hotel's in the area. They also provide protection to the gangs many drug labs , grow house's and fencing shops in and around town. As a member of the mafia (if you choose that role and earn enough cash as a civ to join the Mafia) is to earn money by providing contracts to the various shops around town . These contracts provide you with a short term cash flow which must be renew after a set contract term. The shop owners may refuse to pay , or attack you out right if they are all ready under contract from another player . There some side missions that can be carried out to earn extra cash and you will be able to buy body guards and hit men to carry out your wishes.

The Mafia is also trying to rid the country of cops and your main goal is to become a wise guy giving you the power to arrest or place a warrant for arrest of anyone including cops.

Civs .

The civs main goal is obtain enough money for guns and to join the mafia by any means . Farming and resource gathering is out although there is plenty of places to hunt and fish to provide food to the country. The staples of life are now obtained by importing items from the outlying broker firms on the map. Invest a small amount of cash to buy raw goods to produce , food , cars , trucks guns etc. the profit margin can be small or big depending on the deal you strike with the brokers.

You has a civ will have to build and stock the factories to supply goods to the towns. There will be a limited stock on hand of key items but to keep the mission running the civs will have to produce the needed stocks.

If you decide to join the mafia you still keep what ever factories you have built and will still be able to support the towns and earn cash.

The civs can also get cash by choosing a life of crime . Many of the houses around and in town may be broken in to and robbed . You will find a various goods in each house ranging from money to drugs , guns and other items that can be fenced for cash in the gang area. You can also assume the role of a drug dealer but must obtain the needed raw goods from the many gang owned shops in town . This can be done by either striking a deal with the owner or robbing them out right . Drugs obtained then may be transported to the various places in the mafia controlled section where drugs users are looking to buy your drugs (or rip you off).

All of the shops around town can also be robbed to obtain cash and goods , however the mafia members may have protection contracts and depending on how close the mafia is to the shop you might get killed or ripped off in the progress of robbing the shop .

Cops

Cops have the simple job of keeping order with limited tools at hand. They may also earn cash by providing protection contracts with the local shops and various house's around the towns. They also receive money for arresting people , impounding cars etc. They are also trying to rid the town of the mafia and will be giving dispatches to carry out against the mafia .

there are many other features of this mod that can only be found by playing the mission . Some key features are .

Working bus routes and bus stops , in fact the bus itself can be robbed or hijacked and your income depends on the number of passengers on board. Players also have the option of running the bus and earn money by making the route on time and picking up passengers along the way.

Live towns with random people in them each of which can be attempted to be robbed (you might lose your cash if they fight back).

Live random traffic and cars and trucks that can be stolen and brought to a chop shop. The police have bait cars that they can deploy so watch out as depending on the type of car either puts on in jail or kills you.

A hunting and fishing camp that can only be reached by buying a ticket.All fish and game can be export to earn cash and stock the stores.

Guns and ammo start off with the basic stuff ,pistols and shotguns and ramp up to the bigger stuff as the economy of the towns support it.

Factories are only owned by one player at a time and must be built buy that player . Factories you own can be sold for profit and also can be taken over by another player if they start a bid war with other players. There are a limited number of locations to build each factory.

saved progress , all progress in the mission is saved and can be restoreed in the event of a server crash.

The Jail .

The jail has many ways to escape , bribe a guard , dig a tunnel or cut through the wire.

Thats the jest of it . The mission files and all scripts are totaly mine. I am using a few public released add ons which will be annouced when I do the first release mid july but they are mainly the sigma addon for the cops cars .

Interesting, I'm looking for a new RPG server/community to participate in. If you need a beta-tester or such, let me know. Good luck with your mod! :)

It will be a week or so before first beta. I am waiting on OA to add some stuff and make sure it works .

Once I started on it I found it a lot easier to start from square one rather than try to figure all the stuff done to the clr mission and scripts.

there is also a complete admin panel that allows the admin of the server to make right stuff that happens and create new objective's and task on the fly

Not really all that big once you get rolling . for me is really a "small" project compared to stuff I normaly work on.

they key is to work on parts and then bring them in to the whole picture

Ive decided after seeing a few missions of this type out for OA to put this on the back burner.

I am not going to get in to the "WAR" that is about to start over these types of missions again . I allready received a few emails stating that I stole "thier" scripts when in fact this mission and or scripts have not seen a public or private server.

Sad ..............

you shouldn't listen to others so much. if u got something nice keep working on it. there are always buggers. just ignore the idiots and do your thing.
