Looking around while ironsight/scoped

Just noticed this neat feature and have not read about it before.

While your character is fully locked into ironsight or rifle scope mode, you can train your weapon on an enemy or area and then press and hold the look button (alt) and your view will shift around like normal, but when you let go of the alt button your crosshairs will jump back to the original position.

I have found it helpful to line up two sniper shots, or while using a LMG.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

You can also scan while walking with the Ironsight, ready to engage at first sight. The angles are limited, though.

I can't figure out why, but the feel while "looking around" in ironsight is a lot better. More fluid, maybe.

It's because we get affected by the weapons dexterity. An M107 will actually "feel" quite heavy while in this mode, while an MP5 is still quick. Also we get a bonus to detection when we use this mode as someone just moving his weapon around is a lot more quiet than someone rotating his whole body.

Double tap left alt.

Forcing it on will make you unable to turn until you disable it.

Learn to use ALT 85% of the time you're expecting shit to hit the fan. Even on a 16:9 display I use ALT all the time, watch my vids for some combat awareness examples. :D

i'd find that overkill, especially considering out of many hundred games i own, ArmA 2 is pretty much the only game it could be used for.

ALT is perfect. for me anyways. :)

Especially in aircraft, so annoying flying them in most games now where the view is fixed forward and there is no way to move it.

Alternative to Alt you can see the keys on the numpad, such as 7,9,6 and 4, you can't look around freely like you could with alt however, instead they snap your view to left, right or front left and so on.

If you have a webcam it would be worth trying that free face-track version...

Ooo, I'm on tl;dr basis at the moment. Do built-in Web cameras work? (Static, notebook camera above the LCD, good resolution, though).
