Relemar 10 Posted June 12, 2010 hi, anyone know the best way to make a close air formation when flying? I want to fly in pairs, with AI and them mirror my movement basically. we're both in harriers, whats best formation or something to get what I want? basically, fly in a close, tight formation (ie, behind me or beside me)
Laqueesha 474 Posted June 12, 2010 I'd say Vee or Line works best.

-=[BorZ]=- 17 Posted June 12, 2010 guess you have to approach as much as possible to the other aircraft, but being very careful not to hit it hope this helps! :)

Noraf 0 Posted June 12, 2010 well, if the ai pilot is in your squad, i'd guess 8-8 ( colum, short ? ) would be the best for a close in formation ( witch usualy are only used for airshows, and way out, to denie the unfriendlies ( :p ) easy information of the number of targets a radar track represents. ( when you get closer to the radar, it's easier to see the return signal from multiple planes, besides, some anti air systems got a nice future with ir cameras to help with that as well )
JojoTheSlayer 35 Posted June 13, 2010 I dont know about close, but apart from a formation you could probably also use the "Stay back" order ( 1, 3). This way it would be less likely they crash into you while flying because they would be a bit further behind you while in formation. For turns and such I mean. You could maybe try "line formation", but have your left plane in "advance" and your right plane in "stay back". That just might look like a echelon right formation with a bit better spacing... .../\ ....../\ ........./\
