jw custom 56 Posted June 5, 2010 1. There's a few of such servers around but i wouldn't buy ArmA 2 just for that! 2. The weapons are predefined but theres a large selection. 3. When you chose a character it has a predefined gear setup, but many missions/game types has ammo/weapon boxes so you can dress up your soldier as you please. You can also take weapons from the enemy. 4. Do not expect ArmA 2 to run well on that rig.

jblackrupert 14 Posted June 5, 2010 1- Is Mutiplayer dedicated servers PlayerVs Player with 40 persons or more playing ? It really depends on the time of day and week. The Arma 2 crowd is generally 30+ yr old players with real world responsibilties Job, rent, family, wife etc....... Weekends and evening is the most likely time you find populated PvP servers. I play on Armacalype [Advance and Secure server] and we have no problems getting 20+ people online almost every night starting 6pm PST. 2- Weapon Attachements? Arma 2 has a large selection of weapons with variations on each. Theres something for everybody. Different gun/scope/launcher combos The ACE2 mod adds a few more. 3- Is the Muliplayer Classes or just pickup weapons like in field or new method? Yes there are classes but you can also select the weapons you like from crates. So yes you can run around in a Ghillie suit with a SMAW if you like. In Advance and Secure you can be Russian and pick American weapons and vice versa. Another thing about Arma 2 is you can vote for an admin if there isn't an "official" one online at the moment. He/she can boot any trouble makers.

Dangerdog 0 Posted June 5, 2010 Hello, i heard about this game yesterday and i love how the game is built and the plot but i got some questions1- Is Mutiplayer dedicated servers PlayerVs Player with 40 persons or more playing ? Thanks for the help guys :) Depends on where you are located and what time of day you play. You only need one good server to have fun playing multiplayer. http://www.gametracker.com/search/arma/3000/?sort=c_numplayers&order=DESC

Fishercat 10 Posted June 5, 2010 Have you tried the demo to see if your rig runs it well enough? Keep in mind many improvements have been implemented since demo. Operation Arrowhead demo is coming soon.
gossamersolid 155 Posted June 5, 2010 your desktop isn't that bad, just needs a better video card. You can get 8800/9800gt for like $60-$70 these days, that'd enable you to run it on the desktop.

jw custom 56 Posted June 5, 2010 Aye im going to buy a 1gb Graphics card and a Intel 3.26 GHZ monday to desktop =D Buy a proper card or you will get disappointed. Also do yourself a favor and read in the "TROUBLESHOOTING" forum, there you'll see a lot of threads about performance issues. Take a look at the computer specs people have that will give you an idea of what ArmA 2 takes for you to fully enjoy.
EDcase 87 Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) Hi and welcome GunBlazing99, This game is a true sandbox application. That means that the game-play depends almost entirely on the mission maker. There are two types of multiplayer game style,PvP amd CoOp but there's a huge number of variations that can be achieved. If you haven't already seen it, have a look here to get an idea of the flexibility and variation possible with this game. As for the PC specs to run it. I'm affraid that's the downside. A game of this magnitude needs a very powerful PC to run well and there is no PC yet that can run everything on full. I would say a good machine to aim for would be an i7-920 and NVidia GTX285 (or equivalent ATi) Just download the demo to get a rough idea of performance. Keep in mind that the new patches for the full game do make it run quite alot smoother (better fps) Edited June 6, 2010 by EDcase
walker 0 Posted June 6, 2010 Q 1- Is Mutiplayer dedicated servers PlayerVs Player with 40 persons or more playing ? A Yes several biggest servers run up to 100 players Because of the inbuilt editor any one can make a new game form in ArmA. So game forms are much much more diverse than other games so while DM TDM and CTF exist they tend to be swamped by other PvP game forms like Berzerk and the large scale Capture the Island forms such as Warfare. There is a high proportion asymmetric PvP forms from RPG style Cops Gangsters types to to military convoy ambushes and terrorist/freedom fighters take on occupation/peace keeper forces. You can find out more about ArmA MP here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=79628 If you like playing PvP a Berzerk! server such as Dao should be your first stop. http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Basic_Guide_to_Berzerk%21 There is a lot of Coop forms as the AI in ArmA particularly with Zeus AI is comparable to human players. You also get a lot of mixed human and AI game forms where humans are controlling the AI as squads or acting as a general to an AI army perhaps numbering many hundreds as well as humans providing special forces to AI grunts. Q 2- Weapon Attatechements? A No; unless it is modded but Operation Arrowhead (OA) the official expansion pack may change that. Q 3- Is the Muliplayer Classes or just pickup weapons like in field or new method? A Their are soldier classes eg sniper officer medic. But weapons are a separate class of objects. Eg you can use any weapon. Though some mods and missions prevent this and can include training requirements to use a particular weapon as well as initial skills of a class. OA once again may result in skills per weapon type. Q 4- Can i Run it? Toshiba Labtop # Operating system:Windows 7 # CPU type:Intel® Core i3 CPU M 330 @ 2.13GHz # CPU Speed (GHz):2.153 # System memory (GB):3.865 # Graphics card model:ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5165 # Graphics card driver:atiumdag.dll # Desktop resolution:1366x768 # Hard disk size (GB):149.045 # Hard disk free space (GB):107.35 A CPU needs to be best you can get with ArmA, that tends to be the bottleneck on most systems. Graphic card should cope as it is not supposed to share main board memory and if it has its max graphics memory which I believe is 1 GB it should even be able to cope with your desktop resolution. Kind Regards walker
jw custom 56 Posted June 6, 2010 Let's be serious, that labtop won't run ArmA 2 very well.
neokika 62 Posted June 6, 2010 Let's be serious, that labtop won't run ArmA 2 very well. Well I use a less powerful laptop to edit and mission making when Im not at home and its runs very well with low and normal settings. So I am sure you will be able to play Arma 2 in that laptop, just dont think its gonna look pretty. Dual Core 2.13GHZ 4GB DDR2 HD 4450 _neo_

There's also a difference in can run it and can run it playable! But hey it's not like i don't want GunzBlazing09 to buy the game, but it's seen before that people thought their computer could handle ArmA 2 and ended up with a thread named "performance issues" or just plain bitching around the forums on how terrible ArmA 2 is.
