andromedagalaxe 10 Posted May 22, 2010 Is this even possible? I had to reinstall Windows 7 and try to restore Arma 2 and now it won't launch, tells me to reinstall the game. Anyone know how to do this? Steam troubleshooting is no help. This blows. (I did a search but you get hundreds of threads and no answer)
Sintacks 10 Posted May 22, 2010 What do you mean when you say "....restore Arma2..."?
mosh 0 Posted May 22, 2010 Did you try posting in the steam thread here? It's covered by Dwarden I think, you might get an answer pretty quick there. Other than that, sorry I can't help.
andromedagalaxe 10 Posted May 23, 2010 What do you mean when you say "....restore Arma2..."?[/quoteI installed a new operating system and none of my old programs were available. I had to restore them from a backup, including Arma 2. When I did that, it says Arma 2 won't launch beacuse certain files are missing.
kridian 33 Posted May 23, 2010 It sounds like you didn't start from a clean slate (empty disk). Or did you? Anytime you're "restoring" there's the risk of missing/fragmented game files... which you eluded to. Have you "Verified Integrity of Game Cache" within Steam? If that doesn't solve it, you know what you have to do... "Delete Local Content" and re-download.

How do I do delete local content?
kridian 33 Posted May 24, 2010 Right-click on your Arma2 game within Steam/Games and choose Properties. Select the third tab (Local Files) and select: DELETE LOCAL GAME CONTENT. Then restart Steam and download your ArmA2 again.

Pigsooie 10 Posted May 24, 2010 I would try Verify Integrity of Game Cache First. That will probably fix it.If any Files are missing Steam will re Download them.Right Click Arma 2 in Steam Library,Properties,Local Files.

Windows Easy Transfer or the backup and restore feature works great for restoring files and settings but not programs. You always have to reinstall 'em.... all of 'em.
