Eax problem

Recommended Posts

I have a MUSE XL and I get that EAX problem.

The latest Hercules drivers don't fix the problem.

And it only started happening when I got Windows XP Pro.

It is bloody annoying not using EAX because its hard to hear where stuff is coming from.

WHATS THE DEAL?!?! confused.gif

People use EAX to cheat, dont use EAX because it doesnt work right and its lame to use it as a cheat.

Yup...it sux...cant sneak around them...they hear you from 500 meters...a friend of mine can turn on his EAX and he can hear me breathing from over 300+ meters...so far BIS has relied on new sound drivers to fix this problem...however...there will be alot of folks that just wont change drivers because they like hearing stuff from so far away...its a big advantage to have on their part...Id like to see BIS just remove the EAX option completely if it is going to result in this...its about as close to a cheat as you can get without downloading any software...bug exploitation sucks but what can you do about it. Im sure alot of folks using EAX with this bug are reading this and saying "its not that big of an advantage and I just us EAX because <insert their reason here>...I would venture to guess that alot of these people are using it exclusively because of the sound advantage (even if they dont admit it to themselves...its easier to pass it off as not working correctly). For those that use it who havent admitted to yourselves that this is a big advantage...try playing without it...you will see the difference when someone shoot you from 100 meters and you didnt know they were even around because you didnt hear their breathing from the time they spawned. Following is a direct quote from Suma...

"Exactly the same technique can be used for cheating: consider replacing very quite H&K sound (or sound of footsteps of eastern soldiers) by some distinct and very loud tone. This would give you quite big advantage, as enemy would be unable to approach you unheaderd.

detected."

now...consider the fact that many people can achieve the exact same results by hitting a toggle in their legitimate OFP preferences. A fix would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem with EAX, But it's like a bad dream for me ,you hear them comming for you but can't see them. But the second you fire a weapon the sounds go away , kinda like in real life ( you hear a bird chirping softly , then you open up with an AK-47 and you go deaf smile.gif

So where do you think the problem is? It's obviously the fault of the drivers supplied by Hercules.

BIS should really fix the sound issue with footsteps.

I run SB Live ! (like 70% of gamers) and even after disabling EAX I can still hear a man who's 500 meters away.

C'mon this is such an annoyance ! Yes I have all the latest drivers and so forth so don't bother pointing that out.

It gets on my nerves constantly hearing footsteps of men who are half a kilometer away. In real life when someone walks on a terrain you can hardly hear him from 100 meters away.

I wish BIS wouldn't constantly blame sound cards and drivers. The fact that SB Live ! is the most widely used sound card among gamers and that this problem seems to be directly tied to it should be enough of a reason to make BIS look into it.

I don't even use my binoculars or bother looking, because I know I have a better chance of hearing enemy soldiers from half a kilometer away than spotting them with my optics. This takes away a lot from the game.

All that EAX seems to do is add a little echo. Like I said, even with EAX disabled I can hear the footsteps from up to 500 meters. And with my 5-piece speaker setup it's very easy to spot where the sound is coming from.

This just sucks. Really.
