Hi, I am new to this game, still trying to get a feel of the game. I am wondering if there is a way to order your gunner to switch between different ammo (i.e. HEAT to SABOT). Also, after installing ACE2, all my mounted machine guns (i.e. guns on HUMVEE or M1 tanks) lost their crosshairs. Is there a way to get them back? I notice the crosshair is there for Chinese PLA tanks, but not for Americans.

I think that only switch between main gun and coaxial machine gun.

It is ctr+R, works on all units with two ammo types per gun like M1A1, BMP3 or Kamov.

Weird, it doesn't work for me. I tried both manual firing or non-manual firing. It seems you can only change from Sabot to HEAT through gunner or loader position. Btw, what does ctr+r link to under your control setting? (reload?)

Numpad 0 = Sights.

No more crossharis, until you edit the userconfig files (check ACE2 topic for that).

Another way is to select the Gunner in the command menu and order him to load a different ammo type.

Assuming the gunner is soldier n°3 you select him by pressing F3, then you select "Actions" by pressing 6, and then you order him to load the appropriate ammo by selecting the appropriate option presented in the menu.

For example, I have the M830 HEAT-MP loaded and I'm expecting to run into enemy armor, so I want to switch to SABOT:

-I select the gunner (in this case n°2) by pressing F2

-I press 6

at this point I have the following choices:

1. Eject

2. Load M829A2 APFSDS-T

3. Load M830 HEAT-MP

4. Load M1028 Canister

-since I want the SABOT, I press 2

The only problem with this system is that the game (and ACE) uses the military designation of every type of ammunition, which can be confusing when using Russian assets, since there are some ammunition type that only have the military code, with no HE/APFSDS/HEAT at the end.

When I'm trying this, all I get are options of opening and closing cargo doors. I did spend all my SABOT and it automatically switched to HE. When I expended those, I rearmed but still couldn't change. After I spent the 20 HE grenades I was empty so it didn't seem like it reloaded sabot. I tried jumping to all seats but still no-go. Bug?

Mission is campaign-mission 6 where you attack the airfield.

Edit: NM, when I switched to gunner and had both I could switch in the action menu. If I expended all of one type - I can never replenish it.

Sure I read in the bug forum that some vehicles in OA are bugged in this area and that it has been listed on the bug tracker. Have found myself during play that in some OPFOR vehicles (only play OPFOR in warfare) the command to switch ammo types is missing from options where in ARMA2 they where there. BIS will be on to it i am certain.

Crosshairs for vehicles are disabled completely. You have to fire from the "hip" or use the optics.

Depending on the localization of your game the Russian ammo should be available in NATO standard nomenclature.
