I remember in the old game, SEAL TEAM, there was a quick dive featue that would dive you forward, useful if you see a grenade fly towards you and you could dive away and possibly stay alive.

heh, yeah, good old Seal Team....

Now that I look back on it, it was years ahead of it's time in concept.

Now that emotions have toned down, let's review. We have some ideas that jumping could be cool and a great deal that it sucks.

Separately, lets review missions and realism. Some suggested diving, well swimming could be of some use, just to sneak around, as well as diving and move around trouble. Yes, limited to reality where normal human beings can hold their breath about a minute.

Back to jumping, some like sniping, good snipers need to be able to jump from location to location, to climb trees for good spots, or just to climb fences and possibly even use a rope to climb up to church towers or other buildings where snipers can set up.

Jumping over obstacles, such as the infantry training. Somebody suggested that this is an infantry simulation, well, they jump in training, over ponds, over walls, climb walls, crawl, etc.

You've all expressed your emotions very well, but I thought it would be great. Anyone remembers, or has seen the movie "Enemy at the Gates"? This movie was about two snipers, one on the allies and one on the nazis during WWII. This is the inspiration of bombed out ruins and jumping from level to level. I thought this would be cool. You guys not agree?

the thing is, that's a movie!!

most infantry, AFAFIK, don't need to do stunts like that.

to be more precise, Vasili Zaitzev was Russian. If you saw the movie carefully enough, infantry men only jumped when they were killed by explosions around them

sorry to disappoint yah, but jumping is not a good option for OFP.

swimming is a part of training. i'd rather see swimming then bunnyhopping

eh hem...jump from location to location? what better way to get yourself spotted? if anything else, they would crawl around rather than jump around. I never heard about good snipers being good jumpers. there are stairs you know.. biggrin.gif

Jump, roll and dive would be nice features added to the game (for realism). However there would be a limit of say..1 jump/roll/dive per 15 secs-30 secs. Otherwise it will turn into quake mad.gif ...but to add a function to drop to the ground faster or roll to the other side of the bush would be kewl. The only problem of adding more functions is that I am running outta keys... biggrin.gif
