does anyone know what button i have to press to bring up the GPS in-game mode for quick map references, i cant find it in the manual and i'm drawing a blank on the search engines

Yes, Right-CTRL and M. You have to remember that not every unit got a GPS, but I think there should be GPS' in some of the ammo crates if the unit doesn't have one.
