197.13 Nvidia drivers very bad ctd's

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else experiencing major stability issues with these drivers,

crash dump says

Error during v-buffer creation: error 8876017c

that I belive is a vram issue, dropped the settings back to nowt and still the same !!

I do belive I have enough vram ( quad sli gtx295's)

load editor, jump in an A 10 ( chenerus) fly south , solid fps then a couple of miles out boom everytime desk top with app still running ( usaull thing)

ace on ace off same, I ve even reinstaled :-(

I really dont want to roll back the driver as its so bloody good for all the other games im playing right now.

please advise

Take the good with the bad, stick with em or revert.

Yeah I get that vbuffer error too from time to time.

I still stand by my idea that the game has some serious problems with 'dumping' used memory. Problem is easily re-producable on my machine when flying over Chernarus and is rapidly accelerated by flying over the coast line areas (Kamyshovo/Berezino in particular.)

Guess I may hold fire on updating drivers till the next one then. Am still using prev driver with occassional CTD, but I had put that down to trying various page file sizes to see which performs best on my underspec machine.

Interesting you mention coastline areas, as I get much higher framerate if sea is visible, I assumed this meant less graphics mem or cpu required. Or maybe its more a case of if you can see the sea you can see less mem/processor hogging trees?

They gave no problems here at all - related to Arma2 no better and no worse than prievious drivers. By the way 197.15 are out now..

Its very known that after an update the coastlines started lag the game. For most of us that had no issues before the update noticed this very badly. To me it was always super FPS looking out from the island, and ofcourse you get better now as well, but looking at the coastline (zoom in and move around with water/land in the image) makes me lag. That didnt happen before the update.

Oh and nice on the new drivers. Maybe i can get forced AA in some of my old shitty games now again. :)

The fan problem was with the 196.75 driver and the driver was removed by nvidia. Its fixed in 197.13 and 197.15.

I stand corrected, after further testing u are absolutly right 197.13 have a v-ram problem, same goes for 197.15.

I have a logitech g-19 keyboard with lcd-screen and with evga-precision i can se on the display while i game arma2, gpu% used, gpu-temp, mhz each gpu, v-ram used, and with 197-drivers all v-ram is quickly used when flying and then crash comes. Back to 196.21 solved problem.

Please report this ASAP to NVidia. I don't know what the hell is wrong with their driver team, but they've really been horrible lately.

Hey guys, which driver revision DO you like best so far for ArmA2 ?
