A Good USA Map

Hey folks,

i thought about a scenario or even small campaign where the US is under attack on their own ground. Therefor i need a map that's similar to some part of the real United States. So here's my question: is there a good island out there wich i can use?

I'm thinking of doing the "Red Dawn" map since a remake is coming this year ;)

They filmed Red Dawn in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. It offers wide open plains and the Rocky Mountains.

The town that the communist occupied in the movie was filmed in Las Vegas, New Mexico.

A map of this magnitude would be outstanding

Hope some of this info makes the ideas for this map come together a little bit

This sounds more like an addon request to me... Oh well

I would absolutely love it if somebody could make a map based in an area of the U.S. preferably somewhere that's actually populated... No, I'm not talking about big cities with skyscrapers, I'm talking about suburban and even rural areas with houses, stores, buildings, and farms.

It would be awesome if somebody could do an area around where I live... it's technically the suburbs, but it's right on the edge of rural farm areas, so there's not a ridiculous amount of buildings that would bog down your computer... plenty of lakes, forests, airstrips, and hilly terrain around here, and it's got the perfect name for a map for a military sim, Burnsville. :icon_lol: I would be more than happy to provide any reference photos needed if somebody actually did it! :p

In all seriousness though, I've been advocating this kind of map for a long time, but it just isn't possible to do it with the stock buildings in ArmA 2... The amount of custom objects that would need to be created is ridiculous, and would most likely take too much time for anyone to try and tackle the project... :(

A proper USA map would be great i guess. There's nearly everything out there but no US "island". ;)

Anyway, i looked through a few islands and found out that Celle by Mondkalb would suit my needs. My next question is, wich state of the US would it represent? Where are the most similarities, or at least some similarities in landscape and environment? I'd prefer a coastal state.^^;

A USA map would be awesome.

Celle looks most like somewhere along or near the east coast or mid-east, I think. The open flat fields and sparse cities make me think of somewhere like rural Pennsylvania.
