That better be sarcasm Unl33t. BigRed i doubt there will be any more patches intill Resistance is released later this year or early next year, But i could be wrong.

It seems unlikely that there will be another patch before resistance is being released but pesonally, I really hope there will be at least one patch with bugfixes and maybe even 1-2 new units.

There is another thread floating around here with some sort of wish-list by some people, including me. Worth to check out and bump it.

what bugs are out there?

I had a feeling this would happen, BIS more than supported their game and now people are "expecting" this and that. Like I posted in the "other" thread, name a company that has supported their product MORE than BIS has?

People, back off. If this isn't your cup of tea anymore than sell your game and let the rest of us enjoy BIS's support and great product mad.gif

I totally agree with Topgun.

BIS are probably the most supportive games-developers I've seen/heard of.

Stop bitchin' and start playin'OFP. biggrin.gif

There are a couple "bugs" out there, and you will see them if you play the game.

1) buildings/houses that are damaged from explosions (usually a tank blowing up in the street) become distorted when you walk close to them. Roofs and windows are at 45-d angles. As you walk back, it looks fine.

2) If a driver of a truck is shot dead, and you order someone to get in as driver, the dead body is discarded outside the truck and often floats in the air about 5 feet off the ground level with the door of the truck.

3) Sometimes when you order a vehicle to move, it gets stuck between 2 objects and cannot get out. It bangs back and forth. If it is stuck between 2 vehicles, I just move one of the vehicles, and the problem is fixed.

I can think of a few minor bugs, but most of the things that were annoying in 1.0 have definitely been resolved.

While a patch addressing the little bugs I have encountered in mind would be nice, I don't really expect there to be one, as it's not entirely neccesary.

The game is enjoyable the way it is now.

What about the ever-present "quicksand"? You can walk, run, and wage war all over the stuff, but don't ever go prone and look down, or your rifle may just get swallowed up.

I'm still looking for a REAL fix to the input lag problem rather than a work-around that screws every other 3D game available. I'd also love to see them resolve the lack of EAX support. I love the excuse that it's a problem with EAX drivers. If it's never been supported by EAX drivers, why did you put EAX in the options panel to begin with? Either fix EAX (and hardware acceleration) or take it out altogether. Excellent support? Sorry, I'm fairly new to the game, so all I've seen is a broken option and work-arounds in lieu of actual patches.

No-one questions the efforts Bis has put into the community.

People will always demand new things and will always come up with new ideas. Thats how it is, and its not a bad thing.

Even if only a small percentage of the ideas mentioned in all these threads out there make it in the game, it was already worth the work to write them down.

Please don't take suggestions and pointing out of existing bugs as insult towards the maker. I doubt anyone suggestion stuff on this board itends to criticize Bis with their posts.

So, enough for now, think about some not too far-off things YOU would like to see in this game and write them down here instead of playing the knight in the shiny golden armour, placing himself before the poor and helpless developers, to protect them. j/k. Seriously, Bis has always understood how to deal with their fanbase and I have no doubts that they have no hard feelings against people suggestion things to improve the game. tounge.gif

Doesn't a "BUG" effect the game play? Lock ups, repeating messages, CTD's and such?

Graphically problems such as a roof angled the wrong way I wouldn't consider a bug, I've never had the problem w/ the floating driver and I have the Euro version.

I only had the drunk driver happen in Blakes Somalia mission, never before that. Again, to me, not considered a bug. Does it effect the game or is this just nickpicking tounge.gif

If you look at the FAQ at Avon Lady, you'll see that the Audigy is the only supported card out there, as Creative Labs recently created a new driver. Even then, from responses I've seen in Tech Support threads, a lot of Audigy users still have the problem. Once again I ask, if EAX didn't work until a new driver was released, why the heck was the option ever provided in the game?

Granted, I might get to see all of the bugs the game originally shipped with, but just because they've knocked out a lot of the bugs doesn't absolve the company from fixing the remaining ones - especially when those remaining bugs are common and greatly affect gameplay. It sounds an awful lot like you're saying, "they fixed my bugs, so quit worrying and celebrate."

Frankly, the thought that previous bugs made the current patched state seem acceptable to many makes me wonder how the game ever got such a good reputation. All I see is a game that's been out for around nine months and that I had to fight with tooth and nail in order to play. It's pretty disturbing that people are actually arguing that the game is no longer in need of support just because they can play without problems. Just because the game has been out for x months, or they've released x patches does not mean everything is hunky dorey. There is no magic number that means support just up and quits. It's done when it's done, and it should not be considered done when a large portion of the customers are having to deal with issues like the input lag.

It just sounded to me like you thought BIS had done a crap job at fixing/supporting OFP. That's all smile.gif

Oh and the part about "It's done when it's done, and it should not be considered done when a large portion of the customers are having to deal with issues like the input lag.". This means didley shit. This is business. If BIS can make more money by keep supporting OFP, ofcourse they will do so. Nothing comes free in this world smile.gif

I am grateful for all the support BIS already have given us and OFP.

There's more that a business needs to look at than just the bottom line on one product.  They have to consider the impact that not supporting one product will have on future products as well.  I, for one, will not buy a game from BIS, or any other company, if they are in the habit of dropping support the moment they feel they've taken enough money from their customers.  If they get that kind of reputation, they won't be in business for long.  Reputation is critical in business.

They have been giving support for OVER 9 months. Many games don't get any support. How do you like that?

Unfortunately this is the way it works, bro' wink.gif

If that's your atitude towards the games-developers, you'll soon run out of games to play smile.gif

Hasn't happened yet. There are plenty of companies that have provided excellent support for their games. I'm not saying that BIS isn't, or couldn't be one of them. They've given great support so far, from all I've heard, but they have to finish what they started. I'm not asking for extra content, I'm talking about bug fixes. Bugs that are listed in FAQ's, both official and otherwise, and posted about regularly in the tech forum.

Yes, and many games without support are vanishing as fast as they have been released. Game support with patches, mod support or just by helping in establishing a community around the product is a vital point of game publishing. Most developers that don't feel the need for either of this have seen there product being on the last place of the charts. The job Bis is doing in this area is very good and in the end it will all come back to them when they look at the sold numbers of following products like "OP:FP Resistance" or "Idenpendance Lost"

If I did not love OPF, I would not be posting here. If I come across as being knit-picky, so be it. OPF gives me a complete combat experience unlike other games. It's a tank, infantry, helicopter, ..etc simulator all rolled up into one game.

TOP GUN: It depends on how one defines "bug."
