AH-64D worse than the AH-1Z?

Recommended Posts

I was away when the 1.05 patch came and had completely forgot about the Apache and haven't played much lately. Either way, finally got to test it and I can't see any advantages over the Cobra.

* Apache has the same weapons as Cobra minus the Sidewinder

* Apache feels less agile than Cobra

I guess the Apache has 30mm instead of 20mm cannon (?) but that's it? Why would I use the Apache over Cobra? I was hoping the Apache had FLIR but I can't find it.

Practical use tells me a different story.

The Sidewinder on the AH-1 can be neglected..they miss much to often.

The AH-64 is more survivable and picks up targets better and at longer range than AH-1.

The Ah-64 can still deal massive destruction after all its Rockets and Missiles are depleted....1200 rounds 30mm have their own quality.

I had been able to down even player controlled Su-34s with the cannon alone.

There is also an apache with sidewinders, you have:

"AH64D"

and

"AH64D_Sidewinders"

Try doing a few flyovers over a Shilka with both helicopters, then tell me the Apache is worse. ;)

What difference would that make :p

In one helciopter you would die miserably, and in the other you would die just as miserably, only a little slower :p

The Apache is much harder than the Cobra. It can take much more damage before going down.

I don't understand why they added the AH-64, I thought the USMC used the AH-1Z, which was already included, and that the Army use the AH-64?....

Its just a preview and a nice gimmick for us until the "Operation Arrowhead" addon arives. You are in no way forced to use it. Its a gift, you know!!!

In one, you'd die quickly. In the other, you'd live long enough to take it out. :p

And yes, I play rFactor. Saw your 2008 competition video too, superb stuff. :D

But yeah, the Apache rocks.

Plus the apache is so much cooler, and in OA you'll be able to interact with a uav-drone thingy to lase targets from the air =)))) (big smily face)

What missiles are the lasers used with? Could I use the current Apache with an LTD on the ground?
