Weird aim problem

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

so I just reinstalled ArmA 2 on my PC but I seem to be being a victim of the FADE protection despite of having a retail copy.

I played yesterday with no problems, but since today the crosshair is getting all over the place.

Did I do something wrong? Do I need to activate the game somewhere?

My specs are:

Intel C2D E4500 @2.2GHZ

ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 Mb

3.25Gb RAM (Actually it's 6Gb, but I only got a 32-bit system yet)

Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit

Hi and welcome,

It shouldn't be FADE if you have an original retail. (not second hand)

You say the crosshair is all over the place but FADE will just not shoot where the crosshair is pointing.

Have you tried lowering Options/Game Options/Aiming Deadzone

do you have auto aim activated?(game options --> difficulty)

Try disabling auto-aim, set floating point to 0 (under game options), set mouse smoothing to 0 (under controls).

Then lie on the ground and aim at a target about 300m away. Fire a few shots (taking a couple of seconds between each shot), each bullet should land on or very close to your target. If the bullets fly off over 1m away from your target, then you've got FAD, otherwise it's something else.

Retail copies should not activate FADE. In all my years with BIS it hasnt happened to anyone i know incuding myself, and we all used tons of addons and messed around like idiots.

Ive seen very few over the years say on the boards they have a legit copy but messed up aiming (FADE). If those games are in fact legit i have no clue about since i havent seen any evidence of it personally. So i cant say that it actually can/have happen/ed.

I've had 'fade' kick in with a retail copy but only because I was using a fixed EXE (NoCD) 1.03

Used them with Armed Assault till 1.08 and never had a problem...

Don't think I even had to reinstall ArmA2, just replace the original arma2.exe

Yes ofcourse if you mess with the original you will be punished. :) But a retail that you play normally without messing with it will/should not activate FADE.

It is not FADE is like @Jelliz said: disable auto aim from game options - difficulty.

Hi, I know this is about aim but connected to FADE. I've read earlier that FADE (original thread closed) can also make you spawn as a seagull (bird). I've never had any doubts about my retail copy but after reading the mentioned bird spawning I'm a bit paranoid LOL since I've spawned as a bird once yesterday and thought wth?!! Well I was able to re-class and play the game normally, well except for the random CTDs I still have. I've never noticed a bad aim except that I have set mouse sensitiveness to very high (Razer mouse option) and i'm very shaky when excited lol..But i've noticed that sometimes it takes almost like half a mag to neutralize my target. But I'm hitting the target as I see the blood splashes.

Well, just 2 short questions.

1.) Can you sometimes spawn as a bird even with original copy of the game? It happened only once so far.

2.) Will FADE makes it harder to kill targets?

Thanks and sorry if it was off topic, I believe it's related though ;)

Oh another thing, I'm also able to play the game without CD, is that intended? I haven't messed with the game except for using mods like ACE2,etc.. like you all.

hi guys,

DevilDon, yes you can spawn in as a bird but only happens in MP, mayby 2 in SP but have never seen it myself, could be done with some script i guess.

Dont know what Fading you mean, but look at your setting like mouse speed,

etz,to see if you can get it better, and use the editor to get yourself trained with the weapons and equipment(Training helps a lot)!

hope it helps,

cya

Sounds like something different, Don.

With FADE you'd be playing for a while then you'd suddenly turn into a bird (preventing you from having long matches), and your bullets should be flying off in weird directions. You should also get some comment about using original products or something like that.

When i'm not looking and aiming through iron sight just using the green reticle on the screen the bullets never hits exactly where the reticle is aimed at, always off to the right. Is this normal? i'm talking about like 15 feet away!
