CarlGustaffa 4 Posted February 7, 2010 Ok, think I got it now. Let's see if it sticks to memory :) I had a weird problem though. When I set Utes position to S80°, everything was turned upside down and nothing made sense. Extending the line from southern cross actually gave me north, so wtf? So I though maybe S80° was a bit too extreme and might confuse the system (or me, don't know) a little bit. Then I tried moving Utes to Melbourne (approx S37.7°) instead, and voila, everything worked a lot better. Made a picture, so I have something to look back on, should someone make a southern hemisphere map. Both the 5x Crux extension and the perpendicular intersection method are not 100%, but it gives a rough idea where south is. In case that doesn't work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/54973802@N00/4337188806/sizes/o/
dmarkwick 261 Posted February 7, 2010 should someone make a southern hemisphere map. There is at least one Australian map in the making, so there's one :) BTW, practical real-life testing of the belt of Orion stuff I posted before, turns out to be crap :) Southern Cross method works though.
