Just got an email from somebody in the US that asked me some OFP tech questions (contrary to what The FAQ's contact page says) and ended off with this:

"Ive tried calling  ofp but they refered me to you"

When I responded asking that he be more specific, he replied:

"codemasters refered me to you I called the number in the manual"

I am not flattered.  mad.gif

Are you sure that person told the truth anyway? He could say anything to make you believe him because he did not get through at first attempt when calling the support line. I doubt they would do something like that. If they did, I too am disappointed in CM.

Am just trying to restore my faith in such companies after buying Renegade, will never buy anything with WW on the cover again. Make game, sell game, get rid of customer.

Codemasters have never done that IMO, they "make" a game, sell it and then supports the community by releasing patches and important stuff. WW just want to get rid of us who bought the game because they are too busy with other games.

I hope you´ll get some answer from CM anyway, it would make them look bad if they just put people through to you without even asking. Bad way of doing business.

You know, you can never tell but it seemed that way, as his orginal wording wasn't even very clear what he was talking about:

We can say that it's pretty much strange.

Personnaly, I hate compagnies that just do a game and just forget it and go on other games (like Microsoft, Westwood, etc...). It's sad to see this, because most of the time it make quick to do games and crapy games when those games could be one of the best with some improvement.

No matter how anemic Codemasters support is, I cant imagine them doing this. It's more unprofessional than I can see any company acting.

And if they did, I think compensation would be in order.

I never needed technical support from Codies, hence i don´t know if they request a serial number to validate that you´re a legitim customer....in regards to prerequisite for receiving such support.

Furthermore i personally doubt that codies forward people with problems to third party sites/ e-mail adresses of OFP community members, as i know from my ISP technical support they mostly have a checklist with a standard procedure outlined they use on each customer having problems.

But you can never know....if it was exactly as he wrote, you couldn´t prove it anyway.

some time ago, she talked about some calendar from Boeing(or Hughes..i forgot), and she said she didn't have a scanner.

I agree with the above post. Maybe Codemasters referred the customer to your site, and he found the mail adress on his own. That would not be as bad.
